  • Great video

  • i don't care girl

  • who the fuck eats that much

  • So many of the basic Thanksgiving foods are healthy if you don't mess them up! Personally I like cauliflower mashed with rosemary, garlic, a little butter and chicken broth . Green beans can be fresh and not all gooped up.

  • My family just boils all the vegetables...no need for the candying and adding all the cream and butter :S

  • Its not just about the calories, stuffing that many calories in your body at once takes a toll on your hormones, digestive systems, and much more.

  • The problem with this video is it ignores the amount of calories that a person burns in a day. I'm around 3000 a day, so even if I ate 4500 calories in one day I'd gain less than half a pound. Besides, I don't eat anywhere near that much. What kind of an oink can pound down that much food? I'd be stuffed at half that much.

  • Oh for heaven's sake . They're treating a Thanksgiving dinner like it's a serving of nothing but poison.

It's butter, fat and starch, we GET it. Eating like that once, or maybe three times a year though - big deal. So long as you aren't putting away the gravy the rest of the days of the year, I don't get what the affront is all about.

  • how can someone eat all that food on the plate, just because its thanksgvg???

  • Even with Thanksgiving You don't eat that much seriously...Come on dude just eat till your full...and then don't eat...is it that hard :P

  • only 4,500??? dang i wonder how much i get now

  • Eat more, get fat.

    Yummy, I love fatties.

  • thank god i dont celebrate thanks giving [;

    xx

  • Since when was it so fun to be gluttonous and stuff yourself? Some of us who have been skinny our whole lives and don't have issues with food just eat normally on thanksgiving until we're full LIKE ANY OTHER MEAL. maybe a little more rich food but still when all you think about is the food, that makes you crazy!

  • Lift weights. Eat 5-7 small meals per day. OMG, fat loss!

Eating a meal like this for 1 day wen following a low calorie diet will actually burn more fat throughout the following week since the bodies metabolism speeds right up since it believe food is once again in plentiful supply.

    Very pointless dieting video...

  • Only stupid people eat like that. portion sizes should be common knowledge. we dont want to end up like the people in wall-e do we?

  • You only have thanksgiving once a year

  • OMG thats a lot of calories

    anyway i`m just a girl

    i grow up

  • Yikes... well you could always have tofurkey or a different meat, and simple peas and carrots (no butter)

  • luckypink, you have no idea what you're talking about. When it comes to dieting there is nothing wrong with cheating on your diet as long as it is responsible and and once in a while thing.

  • i wish i ate like that everyday lol

  • Sarah, it's fucking THANKSGIVING, the ONE TIME in the WHOLE YEAR where you can eat that god forbidden 4,000 calories and shouldn't have to worry about it! Yeah cuz if you gain a single pound good lord you're gonna be the fattest bitch anyone ever saw...give me a break!

  • I think you lost the point of the video. People are going to eat what's available on Thanksgiving. Most don't have any choice when it comes to the dishes served at family gatherings. This video is for people who are unaware of their calorie intake on Thanksgiving. Hopefully it will help those struggling to maintain their weight loss, or prevent further weight gain by reducing portion sizes. No one expects to lose weight on Thanksgiving and the video is not advocating restriction.

  • you are right.....this video isnt for '' hey on thanks giveing loose weight and dont eat any thing'' its obviously saying ''hey, watch out on portion control for high calorie foods'' i think H20reo lost that point.

  • I just believe that calorie intake is not as important as portion sizes, that really what matters, just don't put a mountain of food on your plate. I also believe in exercise to make up for what you eat, instead of dieting all together. If you're gonna diet you may as well diet for your whole life because if you go back to eating the way you used to of course it's going to make you gain all your weight back.

  • omg ur not gettin the point!some people spend a lot of time n effort to lose weight and thanksgiving can ruin it all! and ur type of thinking is wat makes people fat in the first place! cuz there should b no exceptions n everything that goes down ur throat counts!

  • I highly doubt if for example let's say there's a girl who is 200 pounds and gets down to 130, that she's gonna gain all 70 pounds in one dinner. Exercise to make up for what's eaten.

  • @H2Oreo: You really expect someone to go jogging for 6 hours to burn off a dinner?

  • Wtf? You cannot gain back tons of weight in one day. If you ate 4500 calories for thanksgiving dinner you probably wouldn't even gain a pound the next day!

  • THis is so fucking stupid. OF all dinners, you're gonna worry about thanksgiving? Damn, work out extra hard that week, or god forbid, gain a pound or two! This is really pathetic. I could understand if you ate like this everyday, that would be messed up. But ONCE a year? That barbie doll has to get over it.

  • Please see the above comment we wrote in reply to H2Oreo. We are advocating portion control and moderation.

  • control and moderation are SOOOO important on a regular basis. I understand that. But its not thanksgiving everyday. I dont understand your logic, i work out, im healthy, cook fresh foods, rarely eat out. There is no way that i work so hard, and not even enjoy my holidays. LOL try again.

  • if we really think about it, a typical person would eat almost the same amount of calories in any regular day! you wouldn't want to eat only fruits and vegetables this thanksgiving, would you? so the best suggestion is just to moderate the eating daily, not just on thanksgiving.

  • Eh, out of all the foods shown, I really only eat the turkey, a bit of gravy, and the roll w/butter. So, I should be fine this Thanksgiving. :-)

  • seriously who cares its once a year.......jeez

  • I think people should eat as much as they want on thanksgiving, its once a year. who cares? go run some every day afterwords, but i think its that once a year meal that you shoudn't have to worry about.

  • I think Thanksgiving and Christmas are two days you shouldn't have to worry about this kind of stuff. You should just eat what you want, only in moderation mind you (don't gorge yourself on it lol), but still enjoy the day with your family.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone ^^

  • Too bad I don't really consume any of that stuff except for the turkey, string beans, sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce. Thanksgiving and christmas dinner always make me feel like BLAH! I eat this stuff ALL the time in the south! BLAH food so give me something else like sushi and artichokes...now that is exciting lol!

  • mmmm turkey and gravy...

  • oh well im eating loads and hoping my metabolism will take off some of the pressure then the excess ill burn off in the next week. simple! ill be fine for summer lol, lets go wild this holiday season! haha!

  • I only live once, why should I deprive myself?

    It's only once a year!

  • Yes, eat good during the week and in the weekends have somthing yummy and full fat rather than eating low fat junk all the time.

Thats the mistake alot of people do when they are trying to lose weight they eat fat free cookies or low fat peanut butter without realising the amount of sugars that the product might contain.

Low fat ice-cream is a big no, no! You are better off having the real thing.

  • someone told me to remember that a holiday is 1 day!! if you do consume more calories then you should, get right back on track the next day.

  • Hey Sarah, was it 6 oz or 4 oz of turkey for 450 calories? You said 6, but the video display said 4.

  • I personally don't think that everyone would consume that many calories on Thanksgiving. That's still a lot of food for just one meal, though.

Though, I would probably eat every bit of it. :D

  • Not in my family, 4,500 cal would be a cut back on Thanksgiving.

  • OK that's only if you're having the traditional white american Thanksgiving. Around at my home we have roasted pig, various types of vegetables, rice, and beans, and for dessert, home made flan. It'll only round up to 2,085 calories if you have second servings. Plus you'll burn most of that off through playing Dominoes, card games or if a kid burn it through playing video games and running around like crazy for the whole day and night. Our Thanksgiving starts at 6pm and ends at 4am/7am.

  • well i am not eating alot of calories cause i don't eat all of that all i eat is turkey, potatoes, and roll and i don't eat in the moring cause i wait for thankgiving to eat

  • Wow! No more turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes, and stuffing for me! Thank you for letting me know the amount of calories one usually intakes on a simple Thanksgiving Dinner. I feel ready to shed some pounds with running and eating healthy! Thanks Sarah!

  • God Sarah you just ruined my future Thanksgiving dinners.

  • Well not having Christmas dinner three days a week. All they need is a healthy diet in between those other holidays.

  • Who cares it's the holiday that's once a year. What the hell else are we supposed to eat? Salads and water?

  • Why is everyone so worried about calories? Just to digest all of that food, your body going to burn 75% of those calories.

Besides any alcohol or desserts, Thanksgiving is a healthy whole food meal, and very nutritious!

  • I'm Canadian, so I've already celebrated Thanksgiving. I'm a vegetarian, so many of the things that were cooked at my dinner, I didn't even eat! And I am definitely 'thankful' for THAT... especially after seeing this!

  • advertisement in the intro.

    unsub me.

this started to look like tv.

  • just give me the green bean casserole and the pumpkin pie and I'm good to go!!!

  • damn, stuffing is sooo good! Why does it have to have so many calories!:/

  • Thats kind of disgusting how many calories are in an average Thanksgiving dinner.

  • All I need is my momma's stuffing...it's sooo goood!

  • I'll take the turkey and mashed potatoes. Anything else, I can give up.

  • Thank god i get the stomach flu every thanksgiving... it's like a curse or something.

  • lol i am so happy i work out now. yoga at 10 am fri =)

  • nnnnnnooooooooooooo!

  • Yea it is interesting.... some type of amino acid blend in a cookie... sounds strange and the information on the site lends no transparency to what exactly you are eating. Why would you eat something when you aren't sure what it is?

  • you're awesome sarah!

btw, do you have a facebook?

  • yes! - well there are 2 accounts actually - I have my original one w/ my college email, and then I have one for DietHealth - For the links (since I can't post them here), check out our channel page, it's listed in the left hand column!

  • I agree, it is important to still live ad enjoy the holidays! But you could cut some corners or just eat a bit less of everything and save some calories.

Luckily i dont like all that thanksgiving food so i eat like a bird. lol

  • Thank you ^^

  • my thoughts exactly, looks like slim4life - totally unrealistic and unhealthy

  • Generally even if you gained a pound or two, you would lose it within the next several days when you return to a regular diet. :) Great eye-opener though.

  • fullhouse, I disagree. Think about every holiday or birthday or whatever celebration where you over-eat. You're at a party for your favorite sports team, birthday party, new years, 4th of july, x-mas.. on and on.

    It all adds up.

The idea is that you should always watch what you eat... yea if you are active and follow a good diet most of the time, go ahead and splurge once in awhile.. but most people go from eating crap to eating a ton of crap on those days. The pounds add up.

  • It's actually quite easy to gain a few pounds with each holiday season and not lose them, (you would have to take in less calories than you need to burn them the next several days, not your usual amount, unless you're exercising a lot) and it quickly adds up for many people until they feel like it's hopeless to lose that much weight.

  • Yes this video was posted earlier, but we needed to make a quick change - Thanks for understanding and re posting your comments from the previous video :) XOXO

  • Gobble 'til you wabble. ONCE a year... works for me.

  • I'm going for 8,000 easy!
