  • very heartwarming xxx

  • Hi Peter. I've tried to send you a message, but there's a lock from messaging you. Is there any way I can message you?

  • Peter this is such a beautifully made, moving and reticent film. I can't believe how instiutions like these, into which people put so much energy and effort, are left to rot. I witnessed this firsthand when exploring Talgarth hospital near Brecon, which is derelict and rotting, but you can still see what a magnificent building it once was and the community that must have existed there must have meant so much to patients and staff. All the memories just left to rot....shameful

  • Hi Peter, I saw this magnificent building from the viewpoint of Denbigh Castle last weekend - it looked too large to be a Jacobean hall. The attendant at the castle told us what it was and that although there were plans to convert it to flats, they'd been halted. She also wryly commented that there would be no one local to buy them due to the lack of jobs in the area!

  • can u still get in now as i really want to see the magnificent buliding

  • @jessicacute321

Yeah, very easily, although you have to watch out for the groundsman and his epic beard.

It's worth checking out, but I strongly advise staying outside. The inside areas are very tempting, but dangerous. The ceilings are very dodgy and some of the concrete floors have rotted, revealing hidden basements.

  • ....and not pulled down so developers can make some money and then go home far away after they have destroyed a part of an areas heretige.

We can't build these kind of buildings anymore, so they need to be protected. We've already lost Penrhos College and Rhos Abbey around my way in recent years to be replaced by giant shoe boxes. And that's not to mention all the more modest buildings like homes being pulled down that had so much charactor.

  • I want to win the Euro-Millions jackpot and save this building. I'd buy it off the developers and restore it completely. My mum worked.

All old buildings should be preserved and restored at all costs. Developers seem to have an attitude that it's o.k. to knock these old buildings down as they are plentiful, but with that attitude the day will eventually come when they'll be none left. Each old building has an individual charactor and each one needs to be saved........

  • hi there im not happy about what going on with the North Wales Hospital and it nice to no that ur try do some think about it i wood love to help but i dont think i can im about 4hr away from the sight im email to find out if i can mack the drive and have a look just incase they knock it down i wood love to see it but it a long way to come if the sight lock up if it is do you no if there any tours thank for ur time i hop you can help

  • Pete this is such a brillant video. I live in north wales and I hear all kinds of stories about this place. However watching your videos made me realise that there was another side to this hospital especially the period you worked there. It isnt this haunted spook house people go on about. Its a beautiful attractive building that has been left to go to ruin!

Ive always been too scared to go but maybe I might check it out soon!

  • This is a beautifully made and truly moving video. I wish the people in charge of our historic buildings and heritage could se this - it would wake them up

  • It is a sad commentary on our society today. We don't take care of these buildings because we no longer take care of the those who need mental care. That is the shock.

I just read that they are working on refitting a part of it for luxury condo's and there was a fire some time back. Luxury condo's! That's who gets service today. We don't worry about the needy but instead, those with money. A sadder commentary since there is so much need out there.

  • at the moment can anyone visit?

  • Comment removed

  • Gutted Pete, you can really hear the emotion in your voice. What were you employed as in the hospital?

  • I was a Cadet Nurse - Student Nurse - Staff Nurse - Night Nurse!

  • @peterglynnfilms. Is the building not listed? and why have'nt the National Trust or English Heritage stepped in. Surely this is part of UK history, not just because of the age of the building but because of what it helped achieve in the way of medicine!

  • Great video, it's a beautiful location that i myself have visited numerous times. Saddens me to see it in such a state, especially since the hall burnt down that.

  • Needed to put it back on with audio after Youtube kindly wiped it.

  • Strange. Dont suppose you have any photos of it before it closed?

  • An excellent video Peter, well done

  • Thanks Mark.

  • Such a grand waste. What will be built on there? I slightly remember Winwick Hospital in Warrington that went the same way. Oh and 13 years on nights? 1 week kills me!

  • Planning permission has recently been granted for 417 houses/apartments/offices.....but whether it'll happen or not only time will tell !!!

    Great film btw !!!!

  • Very good Pete, I've done the link.Still waiting for your memoirs (is that how you spell it?)!!!!!!

  • nice one:)

  • Is it haunted?

  • Check out my NWH Ghost Stories on this account.

  • sorry peter , i can only give this vid 5 stars , i would like to give it 100 !!

  • Ha ha. Thanks G22!

  • Peter that kinda made me quite sad really. well presented video though.

  • Superb Journey. Fascinating :o)

  • Thanks! Had to re-do it as it was one of my most popular vids. Glad I'd saved the footage.
