As a result, any third-rate entertainment act with the right angle was capable of selling out MSG. Witness bands like O.A.R. (before the twenty-something crowd latched onto them like lemmings to a cliff) and Dispatch (who?) selling out shows there.

If you had been in the latter category, you probably wouldn't be worshiping an unfunny non-comedian like Dane Cook. I saw a Comedy Central special from Madison Square Garden. First thing that came to mind? Lack of house lights = lots of empty seats. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong there.

Oh, I just went through some Dane's and noticed you can see the stubble on the back when you see his head at an angle. That explains why you never show the back of his head.
