Someone help me! When I turned on my laptop and was about to run my Minecraft server it said the a server was already running on that port. Then i checked my Ipv4 adress and it changed. I have tried all the port forwarding.. static ip.. all the bs and it seems like nothing works. I play call of duty MW3 most of the time and i sometimes have a steady decent connection, but others it tends to just spike up and down.  I'm not really sure what else to do.. i pay for really fast BB internet and am plugged directly into the xbox. I've had the router for about 3 years now.. maybe just replacing this old piece of shit will fix the problem?

@0230630 odd, it should be a 3 digit number by default, what brand is your modem and/or router? Also make sure its all teh way plugged in yadayada also when your doing this make sure you have a direct connection, wireless wont work right, but if you have both types its fine.

Its not wireless, i got a Linksys E1000 and the modem is a speed stream 4100. i got a static ip of 192.168.1.50.

,but even when it was 3 digits at the end (when i had a dynamic ip) it still gave the same error.... nothing seems to work for me, i just cant get this port open. lets say i don't use my router.... and my computer is plugged into the modem... everything is fine.. the listen port isn't blocked. does that mean its 100% the router the issue?

Correction, LINKSYS, when it actually was linksys, was great, support and otherwise....CISCO bought them, and now they want the name to go away, so they compete against the product while slowly making the hardware with "linksys" on them suck worse and worse, until no one wants it anymore..

Linksys simply does not provide support for their products.By the time I realized this unit didn't work and after several hours of poor customer support from Linksys, the warranty expired. Bottom-line: The unit went from the box to the trashcan. What is the problem with Linksys. Why not just replace the unit for me on the initial request? All they wanted to do was have me try to fix it over the course of several months. Now the warranty is expired. Go with Belkin OR Netgear.
