  • this movie is ok............ i like footloose better

  • BMX BANDITS' VILLAN HAD THE SAME CAR-----FEELIN FOOTLOOSE

  • that's some extreme road rage right there.

  • I remember seeing this clip earlier this year. I thought the driver looked like a big-time villain I recall seeing in another classic film or two, along the lines of a Bond villain or something.

The end of this chase reminded me of the chase between Benji and a wolf (I think that's what it was) from one of his movies.

  • @bub777 The villain in the film (seen as a pimp who terrorizes Jami Gertz) was seen in The Driver (as the hitman in the Trans Am) and The Enforcer (as the stickup thug who boots Eastwood out of the liquor store and dispatched with a 44 Magnum)...

  • Wow. What's with the hate on this movie? I watched this movie when I was a kid and bought the original VHS copy 6 years ago (for nostalgic reasons) and it wasn't THAT bad of a movie. I might be in the minority about my opinion but hey, it's my opinion, therefore I don't care if I am in the minority.

  • shitbox LTD with driver on 80s drug of choice...PCP!

  • I love cycling, but I rented this movie and it was horrible....

  • @1:49 that disney robot "wall e"

  • added to playlist epic car chases wrecks and stunts.

  • dont fuck wit fixies !!!!!!!!!!!! xD

  • This is a single speed coaster. Fixed messengering didn't become much more popular until more recently.

  • the car driver was perspiring more than the cyclist.

  • I don't know if anyone else was annoyed at this but it's important. If he had exited his vehicle at 2:57 after the FIRST time he tried to ram Bacon and beat him, he would've been home free. and man that car was indestructible I bet it was still running after it went off that bridge

  • its all about cardio baby !!!!!!!!

  • i remember this movie i seen it when i was a Kid in the early 90s . the Freeway where the Guy fell off was the old Double deck Embarcadero Freeway in San Francisco it was damaged during the 1989 Earthquake . it is now gone it was torn down in the mid 90s .

  • They chose the perfect car for this scene. The only other car I would have chosen would be the 1971-72 Plymouth Road Runner.

  • @misterdrum78 meh I would have chose an lotus elise. Far better cornering.

  • whoa look out gasp

  • yeah!!! the bike won!!

  • my daily ride to school

  • yeah i think he is locking up his back wheel and skidding but i have never seen some one do that while their foot was on the ground.. but that is a fixed gear as far as i can tell no costing... but i would have to see it again to make certin

  • Actually, they used all kinds of bikes in the movie. At the hill scene, you can clearly see a brake lever when they're on top. Bacon coasts on many scenes. I'm not sure if that foot-on-the-ground stoping is a skid or a coasting, though.

  • yeah i watched the movie a couple weeks ago its pretty funny they for sure use different bikes but i noticed that during some scenes when his bike is fixed he walks it and the pedals move but there is the free wheel click. i think this happens when he dances with his girlfriend it is pretty funny. but a sweet bike movie. yeah and i have no idea what is with the foot on the ground thing maybe to get leverage to powerslide or something.

  • Ive seen fixie riders do the one legged skid with a foot down before, but this movie is from back in the day. It would be an interesting movie to be seen remade I think with the popularity of the whole messenger/fix gear thing (or maybe its passed by now and its too late) but whatever.

  • haha yeah the one leg skid with one leg down im sure can be done but i think something weird is going on on this clip if you watch the skid at 4:18 his knee is bent on the right leg and his body is over the frame not the handle bars so i think that is someting different... and i would totaly watch a remake of this movie haha i think all bike movies are pretty sweet. and i dont know many about fixed gears.

  • Really can't thank you enough for sharing this video. I really love this movie. this and american flyer were the movies that got me into racing. thank you.

  • Kevin Bacon pulled the same trick on those giant mutant worms in Tremors.

  • Why's that perp after Kevin? It's been so long since I've seen this movie and I almost forgot the whole plot. I really gotta see this film again.

  • Gypsy (the perp in the car) had a habit of trying to use the couriers from Quicksilver to move some of his goods. One guy named Voodoo got run down cause Gypsy believed he was 'ripping him off'.

Terri a local girl with a habit of telling tall-tales befriends kevin's character at the courier service and when Gypsy tries to use and abuse her, Kevin and the other couriers take a stand.

  • Thanks sabre! Appreciate the backstory.

  • everyone shuld have known the story anyways lol

  • True...I didn't get to see this movie again until over the weekend late one night. I was amazed at the bike stunts that they did in this.

  • Amazing how there's always smoke blowing across the road just before the two-story drop...

  • does anyone know the name of the music they used in this part of the movie?

  • Quicksilver Suite II Crash Landing by Tony Banks (Genesis)

  • Excellent movie!!!!

  • haha owned

  • Its not a FIXED GEAR is a Single Speed. You can hear the freewheel spin when he picks up the bike, and in the very beginning of the clip.

  • it is a fixed gear bike

  • Right. No one would ride a freewheel bike without brakes. Its fixed.

  • I am pretty sure that either added sound effects or had two different bikes. This is a movie after all.

  • its not a SINGLE SPEED, its a fixed gear. you hear the clicking of the freewheel WHILE he is pedaling, which is impossible. the bearings click while coasting. its just a stupidly added sound effect.

  • it's just a singlespeed... you can freewheel but when you push backwards on the pedal it locks up the hub and brakes... like the old style kids bmx bikes

  • Get a track pro on today's bikes, and there would be much more realism of outrunning a car in a city environment. Those old machines look painful....clips and straps!!! ouch.

  • I'm more impressed by the driving, matching the fixie's moves on that elephant is very impressive.

  • What a retard. I'm not sure, but i think its called...A GUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! USE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The guy in the car only wanted to kill the messenger with a car, but no other weapon? Dumbass!

  • He had lost his gun, had his hand whacked very hard with bike forks by Louie Anderson, and had a history of killing with his car. Also, I can tell you that firing a gun from a moving vehicle (don't ask) is not easy.

  • Well worth watching for cycists, despite the inconsistencies, and oh dear, that music! Apart from out-braking cars without using brakes, parts of this are very much like commuting through Dalston, London on a bad day :o

Our cars are smaller and more agile though.

  • running from a car on a bike is probably the most exhilhirating experience ever. for those who have never done it i highly recommend thinking twice next time a cop tries to pull you over on your bike... if you know your way around town they def can't catch you

  • fixed gear wins!

  • why didnt the guy in the car just floor it and knock him off the bike? and why in a couple of scenes the car is the crown vic. coupe instead of the LTD sedan?

  • Movie magic.

  • bikes: 5 billion, cars: 0, kevin bacon: 79, kevin costner: -896 = was this film set in SF or NYC? who the fuck knows? anyone?

  • New York

  • SF 4 sure!

  • I think there might be 2 bikes used for this scene--one with a coaster brake for the trickier terrain at like 0:46 (unless he's just really awesome at skidding) but then at 2:06 it is definitely a fixed gear because when he starts back up after his skid the cranks turn with the wheel. Looks like he's a pretty skilled rider!

  • i like how he has a water bottle on the down tube

  • Tough wheels for a racer!! :)

  • Soundtrack by Tony Banks of Genesis!

  • This is kinda like my morning commute.

  • Great clip! I love kevin bacon and want to see the film..

  • fuck hipsters

  • Hey I think that's the old Embarcadero Freeway.

  • Alright. He's riding brakeless! (3:10). Course, they probly just gave kevin a coaster brake.

  • he is brakeless but I don't see a coaster brake arm attached to the left chainstay. I think its a fixie

  • he is riding a pretty normal gear ratio, so just judging by logic he couldnt be doing all those skid stops like that. so iit must be something like a coaster brake

    d(-_-)b

  • One less car for sure!

i wonder who the real rider was

  • why was that guy trying to kill bacon on this movie?

  • Because he killed Kevin´s fiend for a drug issue, and Kevin is witness.

  • every movie with kevin bacon is a flop..

  • yeah, but i don't think it's his acting. i think it's more the roles he choses

  • no ways.. the woodsman, mystic river, hollow man, he was great in Stir of echos,Wild things was sexy, Have to agree that 'Death sentence' was an after school special on crack but loved his hair at the end. Oh , and 'A few good Men' awesome.

  • Poor LTD. One of the last great big Fords. It was my first fullsize. Loved it.

  • In this film look at Jami Gertz: the most impressive hair of all time.

  • 1971 Ford LTD

  • CRITICAL MASS RIDER v.s. MOTORIST

  • Ha ha don't be silly, critical mass riders are congenitally incapable of riding over 5mph

  • damn, where is the fruit and vegetable stand? its not an 80s car chase without some kind of fruit or vegetable matter being splattered everywhere. on top of this, the car doesnt even explode!

  • Or a piece of plate glass carried by two moving men.

  • why is the guy in the car sweating more than the guy on the bike?

  • aaaahahahha so real

  • Faz muitos anos que eu não vejo este filme, muito louca esta cena, ainda mais sendo apaixonado por bicicleta como eu,valeu!!!

  • Geez, what is that guy's problem? lol
