Wahhhhh! I think so many people will miss it because it was the first coaster for so many. It's definitely what made me fall in love with roller coasters!
@bluepoptartfruitloop Arrow Dynamics, the company that created this ride, went out of business plus there are very few of these type of coasters still in operation. Combine those two factors and it meant that parts to make any repairs to this fairly old coaster were expensive and hard to come by, and apparently Busch Gardens didn't feel like splurging to pay for them so they took it down. This was my first suspended coaster and a great ride, I miss it.
An inverted coaster has cars that are fixed to the track, while a suspended coaster can swing freely side to side. And yes out of the two, only inverted coasters can preform inversions.
Very sad to see this go, I had finally planned a trip there this summer and the #1 ride I was heading for was the Big Bad Wolf, went to the website and didn't see it listed in the rollercoaster section and was thinking that must be a mistake, after a little searching realized I had missed out on a chance to ride this coaster forever......Very sad day indeed...well at least I'll get to ride the classic loch ness monster.
@Dancing88Mike@vio2112 There are five Arrow Dynamics suspended coasters still in operation: Ninja at Six Flags Magic Mountain, Iron Dragon at Cedar Point, Flight Deck at Kings Island, Vortex at Canada's Wonderland & Vampire at Chessington World of Adventures, but Vampire uses new trains that are the same as the ones Vekoma uses on their suspended family coasters.
This was my first mature rollercoaster (previous ones were kiddie coasters at Disney and stuff). I loved it and rode it several times back in 2001 when I was a little kid. Sad to see it gone.
I once got caught on the up ride to the Rhine River drop... sat there for a good 15 minutes or so... I kept hearing the wolf go "AOOOOOOO!" I hated this ride, everytime I got off it I had the worst headache ever, no matter WHERE I sat. But I am sad that it is gone. Hopefully Loch Ness stays around for a little while longer. Though after a while (I live in VA only abotu a 45 minute drive away from BG) BG does get boring.
Of all the roller coasters in existance, I can't believe they would take this one down. Of the 7 suspended coasters built in America, the Bat was no good, XLR8 was closed along with AstroWorld, they took this one down cuz they decided the Big Bad Wolf needed to be "retired," so only 4 remain. Two of them-Iron Dragon at Cedar Point and Flight Deck at King's Island- are in the same state. It's rly sad that Arrow didn't build anymore of these wonderful coasters.
It was my first roller coaster as well. The first time I rode it I was so small that I was literally floating in my seat of the Rhine river drop. The second and subsequently last time I rode it I got smacked in the face with a tree branch. I guess it wanted to go out with a bang in my memory :) I'm miss my wolfie!
@EmoGirl8897 Lol, XD Didn't mean to make you (not) cry. XD Today, I braved the avalanche booby trap in my closet to find my keychain box. Now I found my Big Bad Wolf I got way back then, poor keychain shows it's age. It's got a crack in the face that the water leaked out. (it was a water-ball like keychain that had a floating picture of the Big Bad Wolf car. XD) I made it into a necklace lol. (Obsess much? Me? Nawwww. *cough*)
Big Bad Wolf was my first roller coaster, and therefore my favourite. My family used to go every summer, but can't anymore. Before yesterday, the last time I came was when they introduced the Griffon, which wasn't working that day. Since it was hot, I passed on riding the wolf.
Then yesterday, we went to Christmas Town and the moment I saw the shirts had gone back to "Fear the Four", my heart sank. My wolf was gone. I'll forever regret not riding it one more time.
Sadly All the Arrow Dynamics Suspended coasters are falling apart. The less intense ones, will be the only ones left in about 10 years. This was the 3rd or 4th to fall to reliability
Unfortunately I only got to ride this twice, in the same visit, because every other time I was there it was shut down. Seemed like they was always something wrong with the thing. One of my favorite coasters ever and one of the best in terms of nostalgia. I took a mental picture of whipping out over that water suspended. It was one of those quintessential moments, and it'll always be with me.
We went to Busch Gardens last week and I wasn't aware Big Bad Wolf was gone. So I came there all like :D Then I see a huge empty space where BBW used to be and I am like >:( Then I try other rides in the park and I was like :D
@Avatariscoolio That sucks. Niether did I, as when we went my mom HAD to make us ride Curse of Darkastle one more time (when the queue was literally out the door) and made me miss out on my only chance to ride it AND a credit...
@spartanhero82 I came back yesterday, it was great. Griffon, Alpengeist, Lochness, and Apallos are must-do coasters. Curse of Darkastle was a pretty wicked 3D ride too. And if youre going out to eat, try Blue Talon Bistro and the Fat Canary. OH. And if theres any girls in your family, take them to Water Country Park and watch the performance Aquabatics, the guys there are talented and gorgeous. (Hope im not being a creep or the sort. -___-)
@KissMehImScene not at all im leaving friday for virginia the rollar coasters are crazy my favorite was theb alpengeist amazing the earthquake though isshutting down the park :( oh well
i never got on it!!! i really want to wen i went to busch gardens i saw a part of the ride!!! it was the little thing where the poles sit on it was so sad :(
on the pompeii ride my grandma made me ride it 10 times cuz i didnt like it and when i finally said i liked it and i wanna ride again she was like lets go lmao
@mastro82mp It was manufactured by Arrow Dynamics and they went bankrupt about 9 years ago, so it's possible that parts were becoming harder (or more expensive) to acquire . Granted, Loch Ness Monster is also an Arrow coaster, but I think since it's a more traditional coaster parts are more universal.
@sexybj89 The Drop Tower did not replace Big Bad Wolf, it's at another location. They're building a new coaster for 2012 where Big Bad Wolf used to be.

@sexybj89 that drop ride is up near the bumper cars, swings and kid rides. Was just there for Christmas Town and a better ride is going in called Verbolten. Look for more info on the BGW website.
This is my favorite rollercoaster out of all the rides I have ever ridden. I only got to ride it once because we moved to illinois. Now it is gone. :( I won't be sad if they replace this with a B&M Flyer.
Aside from the "cheat" of a 2nd lift, Big Bad Wolf was one of my favorite rides the night I was able to visit Busch Gardens. It was a true classic and is greatly missed.
Man I REALLY wish Big Bad Wolf was still around! It's the first and only rollercoaster I've ridden on. You guys know that little dragon mini coaster that fairs usually have? Yeah, I cried on that. So, was pretty scared. Like, crying right before the first drop. Lol I'm a wimp. :P But I LOVED it in the end! And then next month, shut it down 4ever. :( Now 2nd best option is Apollo's, and WAY 2 high and scary!
R.I.P. Big Bad Wolf. :( You will be missed. *blows kiss* *waves*
@Starlightkitty12 Apollo's Chariot was my first and only rollercoaster to date. I rode it back in spring 2004. The first drop is the scariest part, which lasts a couple of seconds, then the last half is a series of "bunny hops" or small hills that are quite peaceful compared to the first drop. I considered riding the Big Bad Wolf, but the suspension aspect seemed kinda scary. I would recommend riding Apollo, if only just for the bragging rights!
@ajcusn yup, that was my 1st roller coaster 2, the big bad wolf was gonne be my 1st instead but untill that had to build the MACH TOWER. Think about little 10 year old kids who wanted to ride it! :( but the Appollos was fun though
I loved this ride so much, this ride is what made me want to get a pet wolf as a kid. I think my favorite part about the ride was the scenery of it, how it was so original and different. There was just something so awesome and creepy about going through an abandoned old world German village. I hope they do something positive with those buildings. R.I.P. you old dog.
this was the first roller coaster i ever rode, i've since moved up to griffon which is freaking awesome, this will definitely be missed..welcome mach tower though :)
@BaReRrEtScOpEz same, and at the top of the giant drop towards the end i was screaming "NO,NO,NO!!!" and my dad had to calm me down.......good memories
I guess this means the few other existing suspended coasters will be on the chopping block in the next few years. I think in the US there is only Iron Dragon at CP, Flight Deck at KI and Ninja at Magic Mountain that are left.
@jephsteph they're taking away the easier RCs next they will take down (most likely) is Appolo's Chariot. Better ride it before it shuts down in 3 years
I was really, really sad to hear it's gone. I haven't been able to visit home in 4 years only to start planning a trip back to learn one of my all time favorite rides has been shut down and being replaced. D: I'm excited for the new ride, but I'm sad I missed a chance to ride it one final time before it was closed.
This was one of my first too, i rode it every year I went there. I rode it for the last time as well as said good bye to it 2 years ago. I will never forget it :)
my first roller coaster, iwa sonly four when i rode it my dad told me to stand aginst the wall and on my toes when they measured me, since my pants hung below my ankles they never noticed (:
oh how i miss 2001, going to busch gardens every week during the summer... i think i cans till remmeber drachen fire O:
I remember this. I was only five when I rode it... it's actually the only real roller coaster I've ever been on, but I'll miss it so much. I've always dreamed about going back to Virginia just to visit this place again. Oh well. At least we have this.
@Nebula418 High quality was the term that youtube used before HD video posting was possible. We say "Watch in high definition" for our HD videos & 480p is higher quality than 360p or 240p.
@Nebula418 It doesn't say watch in high definition... it says high quality. 480p is high quality in streaming video in the internet world. Most videos are at 240 or 360p... which is lower quality than we see on standard television. Although 480p isnt high def.. it is however crystal clear.
Like many others this was my first coaster as a kid rode it ten times in a row this coaster will be missed walking over the bridge will never feel the same
Wahhhhh! I think so many people will miss it because it was the first coaster for so many. It's definitely what made me fall in love with roller coasters!

This was my first roller coaster, every time I went to BGE I rode it, I wish they didn't do it.. :/
liljdub08 9 months ago
I loved this ride so much, this ride is what made me want to get a pet wolf as a kid. I think my favorite part about the ride was the scenery of it, how it was so original and different. There was just something so awesome and creepy about going through an abandoned old world German village. I hope they do something positive with those buildings. R.I.P. you old dog.

I loved it when I was a kid because I was afraid to go on anything that had inversions. Wish it was still around.

@Roflmao0516
Its been shut down for a good 2 years now.. or 1 and a half... i miss her.
SlimSlow92 10 months ago
I guess this means the few other existing suspended coasters will be on the chopping block in the next few years. I think in the US there is only Iron Dragon at CP, Flight Deck at KI and Ninja at Magic Mountain that are left.
jephsteph 10 months ago
@jephsteph they're taking away the easier RCs next they will take down (most likely) is Appolo's Chariot. Better ride it before it shuts down in 3 years

This roller coaster is so fast that it really feels like you're going to hit the poles. Why is it gone? Why is lochness monster going?

R.I.P. Big Bad Wolf
ReverandChairmanAron 10 months ago
I was really, really sad to hear it's gone. I haven't been able to visit home in 4 years only to start planning a trip back to learn one of my all time favorite rides has been shut down and being replaced. D: I'm excited for the new ride, but I'm sad I missed a chance to ride it one final time before it was closed.

I remember this. I was only five when I rode it... it's actually the only real roller coaster I've ever been on, but I'll miss it so much. I've always dreamed about going back to Virginia just to visit this place again. Oh well. At least we have this.

"Watch in high quality."
What high quality? It is 480p.
Anyway, great pov! It will be missed :(
Nebula418 1 year ago
@Nebula418 High quality was the term that youtube used before HD video posting was possible. We say "Watch in high definition" for our HD videos & 480p is higher quality than 360p or 240p.
wwwCOASTERFORCEcom 1 year ago
@Nebula418 It doesn't say watch in high definition... it says high quality. 480p is high quality in streaming video in the internet world. Most videos are at 240 or 360p... which is lower quality than we see on standard television. Although 480p isnt high def.. it is however crystal clear.
