Friends feels like a warm up. I praise How I Met Your Mother for being so Intelligent and very unique. It's so very well told and unpredictable. I adore Friends, but How I Met Your Mother surpasses it.

i think HIMYM is a good compensation for old friends fans, friends is a evergreen classic and you can replace it, emotional it was better much better than HIMYM but both are very funny (in my opinion friends a little bit more) but HIMYM is very special because its a storytelling sitcom and sometimes its very complex...

@AighceTV totally agree with you ! After your comment I realised that HIMYM was created a year after FRIENDS finished. They are good replacement, but as you said Friends are evergreen EPIC MASTERPIECE that can't fade like other sitcoms, there is cougar town also- I think they are also something like replacement for friends(not just because Courtney cox has the leade roll) ,friends are just not repleacable. :-)

Friends had more LOL moments, but HIMYM builds suspense with it's rubix cube-like storytelling and is more relatable for today's youth.

Friends set the bar pretty high for sitcom expectations, but HIMYM has done exceedingly well in meeting them.
