  • "When we joined the Covenant, we took an oath."

"According to our station, all without exception."

"On the blood of our fathers, on the blood of our sons, we swore to uphold the Covenant."

    "Even to our dying breath."

"Those who would break this oath are heretics, worthy of neither pity, nor mercy. Even now, they use our lords creations to broadcast their lies."

"We shall grind them into dust."

"And continue our march to glorious salvation!"

  • The Great Journey is a....-(Activation of the Halo Rings)....a sucidle path of destruction....Let The Great Journey(The Covenant's Death)Begin!!!!!so said the Prophet of Truth(liar),Mercy(mean as hell),and Regret(dumb as shit).....however they do make it sound cool on the cutscene "Changing of the Guard"...

  • What I'm wondering, is why they actually seem civilized in cut scenes like this, but when it comes to Halo games such as Reach, they're nowhere close to civilized. Anybody able to make any sense out of that?

  • @Hugsblue Bungie made it like that in Reach because they wanted to re-introduce the Covenant as big, scary, alien enemies that were only bent on our destruciton. Reach took place before Humanity knew alot about the Covenant, hence the fact they didn't speak english.

  • " On the blood of our fathers, on the blood of our sons " Epic, the Halo series is truly breathtaking.

  • how do the elites eat anything when their mouths have no bottom?

  • I remember 7 years ago when this cutscene played, my jaw dropped cuz i really wasnt expecting to play as an elite. good times.

  • At 5:40 why does he hold it in his right hand lol

  • lol this reminds me of the scene from lord of the rings the two towers when the orcs are arguing over wether they should eat the two hobbits or not

  • Best motivational speech ever 4:08

  • Geez, don't you think that punishment sounds just a tad harsh. I mean c'mon!

  • This is actually 2 cutscenes, it is possible to skip the thing with the hierarchs and go directly to the phantom scene

  • R'tas sounds like a human holding his breath through his nose and mouth rather than an Elite.

  • HOW THE HELL are those phantoms that fast?

  • @Oskarmandude1

they slow down to avoid crashing and if they maintained speed while dropping troops, they would be grinded on the ground.

    it kinda makes sense.

so in long-distance, they can go at their top speed

  • If you play it backwards you here:

    I wander the earth

I seek forgiveneness for my horrible crimes against God.Amen.

I wish to seek death, destruction. The light, let the light

    That cannot be extinguished.

  • @Leadenima7000 yeah the voice at the beginning right? the whisper low voice says things that got me shock! like if it was the devil talking, also on the level where the Chief is in high charity before the flood is in , where you rescue some marines you can hear again this voice saying stuff like Time has no beginning , no end , no purpose. very strange from Bungie doing that subliminal thing. Still the Elites speech is bad ass!

  • Oh yeah! Heft that baggage! lol

  • When the camera zoomed in on the arbiter at 5:40, my jaw dropped and I thought to myself, "This game just flipped the fuckin script!"

  • If you listen extremely closely, you here the voices in the backround saying "Hail, Satan" on this part 0:54.

  • This was my favorite halo 2 mission

  • whats the music at the start when they are walking through the jails i cant find it anywhere even on the soundtrack

  • I like how human the elites are

  • @rayblack2004 what do you mean?

  • Best scene introduction to the arbiter. I love it. And i also love the graveminds voice starting at 1 minute being played backwards

  • @Josh4639 is that the gravemind?!?!

  • @DJTRANCENDENCE Yeah his voice was used for some sort of poem. You will discover that if you play the song backwards.

  • I think the halo 2 cutscenes are the best in the series.

  • *turned

  • when cc is tuernd on, it says supposedly at 2:07 Lance Armstrong wtf?

  • Yeah, I definitely loved Halo 2. But I really wish they had included an Assault Rifle, that's really my only complaint. The gameplay, story, cutscenes, everything is magnificent.

  • honesly if you listen to this song backwards there is a secret message.

look it up hidden message wiki

  • Hands down, the best cutscene out of all the 5 games.

  • Better make a Halo game for the Elites.

    IM LOOKING AT YOU 343!

  • Grunt: Oooooo, what does this do? *Turns knob*

Grunt: What the fuck? I can't breathe!!!

  • quick question is the arbiter left handed?

  • @3DDYR Yes most arbiters are left handed

  • @Josh4639 Why are most left handed? I've only seen one Arbiter (this one) and he is left handed but how do you know most are?

  • @Josh4639 theres only been one playable arbiter, and there have only been 4 left handed elites. Rtas' vadum, An unnamed Spec Ops elite, and the last elite in the Lone Wolf mission in Halo: Reach

  • the phantom engine sound in halo 2 was awesome, it's cool how they made it instantly distinct from other covenant sounds by giving it that hard electric edge

    4:40

  • Comment removed

  • That's not that bad of a punishment. I was hung by my entrails a week ago and the crowd threw rocks me at while I was being paraded..............so beat that ARBITER!!!!!

  • ELITES. LOOK. LIKE. SHIT. WITHOUT. THEIR. ARMOR!

  • the arbiter can kill all his brothers so watch out shipmaster

  • i know rtas vadum is a ship master but he looks like an elite ultra

  • "What shall you have your Arbiter do?"

  • the arbiter is better then spartans

  • Halo 2 is a masterpiece

  • you two whimper like grunts fresh off the teet

    umm....ewwww :/

    also

in the 3rd game he becomes a "heretic" so he just kills that dude and takes his place

also why did his voice change when he put on the helmet?

  • I really think that future Halo games need to explore the lore behind the Covenant a bit more. Halo 2 is the only game which dared to do that, and Halo 3 only had Arby and a few elites in it (i.e. ones you don't shoot and which are related to the plot).

Mentioned here is stuff like the "Grunt Rebellions" and the "Taming of the Hunters", why didn't they put Covenenat characters in Reach, for example. Would make it much more engrossing.

Maybe a game from a Covenant viewpoint would be nice

  • @SomeBlokeLol , I could not agree with you more. I remember playing Halo 2 for the first time and being completely fascinated at delving deeper into the world of the Covenant, discovering their history, and even fighting as the Arbiter! Because of Halo 2, the Covenant are now no longer a mindless, two-dimensional adversary. The Arbiter missions that show you more of the Covenant's history are just great and add so much to the story. I love it.

  • @Ryan9145X And that is Why Halo 2 is the greatest of the series.

  • i concur

halo 2 had the most profound plot and added more to the universe than any of the other games

  • "on the blood of our fathers on the blood of our sons" i have looked everywhere for that...

  • @arcticshade1 me 2 my clan is based round the covenant

  • "on the blood of our fathers on the blood of our sons" i have looked everywhere for that...

  • "on the blood of our fathers on the blood of our sons" i have looked everywhere for that...

  • shipmaster the white elite is funny like a humun

  • Favorite part in the speech, "On the blood of our fathers, on the BLOOD of our sons."

  • @Come0At0Me also a halo reach elite armor description and also soooo many achives are quotes from halo 2

  • when i first played this mission i was all like "=O"

  • i always wished that the guys you kill as the arbiter would have joined forces with the humans

  • "the grunt rebellion"

    I bet they almooooost won

  • I wonder how it feels to have a big golden arch thing on your shoulders.

  • ...for some reason, I like that brute that seemed a lot more 'considerate.' You know, the one whom had a smoother voice carrying the Arbiter on his left side.

  • I bet the Arbiter is like "GET YOUR ASS OUTTA MY FACE!"

  • lol I know every line by heart. :D This is why I liked Halo 2. There's more intrigue, and the Arbiter was a cool character.

  • The Prophets names are somewhat ironic:

Prophet of Truth told alot of lies (i.e The Great Journey)

Prophet of Mercy was quite harsh (i.e Thel Vadamee's trail)

Prophet of Regret never looked back on mistakes (i.e Attacking Earth)

  • @Altair796 well thats like how noble team died too

  • prophet of regret regretted that he attacked eath , prophet of mercy was shown mercy by master chief when he removed the infection form from him and the prophet of truth knew the truth about the halo rings ? thats just my guess :)

  • To the people that don't understand these lines;

"These are my Elites. Their lives matter to me, yours does not."

    "That makes two of us."

Rtas is basically saying that his troops lives are important to him. The Arbiter saying "That makes two of us" shows that the Arbiter cares about Rtas' life AS WELL AS the other Elites and Grunts on the ship.

  • @OmglolNarutorules I don't think so. I think what he means, is that he mirrors his response, in that Rtas's life does not matter to him, but the troops do, like Rtas, but in reverse.

  • @fingersticks74

No, what he meant by saying that makes two of us is basically the same..

The troops lives matter more to him than his own (Arbiter).

Not sure about Rtas's live mattering to him.

  • The death of Thel 'Vadamee

    The birth of Thel 'Vadam

  • i cant belive they dont sell it for x box anymore

  • did you know that the prophets names are the oppisite of their actullal selves prophet of truth lies, prophet of mercy shows no mercy and the prophet of regret doesn't regret the stuff he does heres the website for it if you don't belief me halo(.)wikia(.)com google it if it takes you to a different website

  • @hellfighter496

Actually, Mercy is denied mercy when (SPOILAR) the Flood invades High Charity. Truth leaves him to die. Regret makes a stupid move, and runs from Earth to Alpha Halo, all the while asking the other Prophets for forgiveness.

  • pharisees

  • the council will have their corps.....wow they really thought that the arbiter would be killed hes awsome

  • I laughed at the fact that the first thing Thel Vadam sees after waking up, is Tartarus ass.

  • The part beginning at 0:46 U hear a slight distorted slowed sound. if u play that backwards it says "I wander the earth. I seek you forgiveness for the horrible crimes against god and men. I wish to seek death, destruction. The light. let the light that cannot be extinguished"

    Creepy, isn't it?

  • It's gravemind I remember watching a video on it

  • I found it so very disappointing that no other Halo game ever made it close to this kind of story telling- I was actually fairly pissed off when I found NONE of this kind of thing in Halo 3. And now, they are venturing even farther away from it with Halo: Reach. I have no problems with a more human story- but really, this is what gripped me with Halo's story (if not Halo 1's mystery). Just everything about this kind of thing in Halo 2 strikes a chord with me, and leaves me begging for more.

  • @ProphetofWar

But considering that we had an excellent storyline in Halo 1-3 well its fine.

Halo Wars storyline was okay but ODST was plain boring and campy.

    Halo 2 is my favorite.

  • i love halo 2.......

  • my favorite cutscene in halo 2

  • the longest cut scene in a game was on star ocean IT WAS 20mins!!!!!!!!

  • Lol try MGS4, it has a over 90 minute cutscene, not sure if it's the longest but longer than that one.

  • why dont brutes ever join with the elites on these missions, you always find them dead somewhere

  • @VeskoProductions

The brutes and elites always hated eachother.

They would rarely work together. And yes, thats the shipmaster in the phantom.

  • is that the shipmaster in the phantom?

  • there cant be every arbiter. in halo wars, the arbiter gets thrown off th edge, then the planet got destoryed. so who could of found him?

  • hes a different arbie

  • @VeskoProductions They didnt find him, they made a new suit of armor and assumed he was dead.

  • What are the background whispers from 0:47 - 1:13? All I caught was "Arbiter," "before," and "permission."

  • @SoraKage17 i think its saying the names of all the arbiters

  • "Every Arbiter from first to last" Now that just got me thinking holy moly!! xD

  • wut was Tartarus going to say before Truth cut him off?but, "I thought-"

  • he was going to say why the prophets save the Arbiter, because he was sentenced to death

  • tartaruses uncle name was macubus

  • why do the prisons lead to the heirarchs

  • @brennan118 the prison has a mosoleum, where bodies are. they were just waiting for him.

  • @brennan118 lol replying to a 7 month comment and the answer to your question is i don't fucking know......have a nice day

  • @brennan118 Because that might be the place to look.

  • @brennan118 it leads to the mausoleum of the arbiter, not the heirarch chambers. doesn't matter anyway high charity is gonna be flood food neways

  • @brennan118 they dont thats the mosolem of the arbiter the hiarachs building thingy that they live in is in the centre of high charity

  • @brennan118 they don't, they lead to the the mausoleum of the arbiter, which actually is a covenent criminal given the chance to redeem themselves by serving the will of the prophets. the chamber of the hierarchs is on the other side of high charity

  • @brennan118 The white flash were perhaps used to give a narrative cut?

  • The council decided to have you hung by your entrails and your corpse paraded through the city...

    one of my fav's

  • arbiter owns masterchief elites own spartans and brutes

  • You are the arbiter the will of the prophets but these are my elites their live matter to me yours does not.

    That makes two of us.

    Best bit in halo 2

  • @rainhamendgill My favorite is when the Arbiter says to Tartarus: "If they came to hear me beg, they will be DISSAPPOINTED..."

Just shows how proud the Elites are and how strongly they believe in honor among their society.

  • @Foxtrot323 That, and The Arbiter was a Zealot-Class Fleet Master. He was the definition of Badass and he knew it. He would have willingly died for the Covenant at any time if he was commanded to.

  • @Freelancer591 yeah...to think that he lead the Fleet that glassed Reach and then followed the Pillar of Autumn into Slipsace towards the Halo ring...pretty crazy. Few people realize that the Arbiter (i.e. Thel 'Vadamee) was the FLEET Master responsible for the Fall of Reach and in charge of every single Covie that you gun down in Halo 1.

  • @rainhamendgill FUCK YEAH

  • wow so elite relly look like dinosausrs

  • thats saturn or jupiter cuase it has the giant storm on the side

  • Man I wish that in halo 3, you had to search the Arbiters' room for Cortana, but instead here was a cutscene that showed the Flood re-animating each and every past Arbiter corpse, now that would be cool.

  • that would be fucking cool but hard :D

  • that would be very cool. i never thought of that

  • I like Truth's old voice, although Truth's new voice, which just awesomely happens to be Terrence Stamp (Haunted Mansion, Yes Man, Get Smart, hundreds of others) is also good. I just found my Halo 2 disc and it felt awesome to play again.

  • "What would you have your Arbiter do?"

    Ah memories. Thanks :)

  • i hear a voice in the back round going back wards

  • lol at the end it looks like half jaw and the arbiter r about 2 kiss

  • lol at then end it looks like the arbiter and the other guy r gonna kiss

  • BRUTE 1: "How much further must we heft this baggage? Any cell will do!"

BRUTE 2: "Why not toss him in with this lot?"

Sentinels scream out! "YEAH! SEND HIM HERE!! SEND HIM DOWN!!! GIVE HIM TO USSSSS!!!

BRUTE 2: "They can use the meat!"

BRUTE 1: "Them? What about us? (Or rather...me!LOLZ) My belly aches!"

    He looks over to Arby...

BRUTE 1: "And his flesh is seared, just the way I like it! (After KFC...)

TARTARUS: "QUIET! You whimper like grunts fresh off the tits! He's not meant for the jail"

  • Tartarus said Teat, not Tits.

  • LOLZ! I know! But I just thought I'd sound funny!

  • where they sentinels, i thought they were jackals

  • does anybody know what music this is

  • to anyone who doesnt get what 1334shanetyler means , the song where tartarus (aka mohawk) and his brutes are dragging him in to that room where the prophets are , do you her the music? sounds like some one talking , huh? well played backwards(or something like that , i cant remember) it is that message.

  • And move forward to Glorious Salvation!

  • Time... has no end... No beginning... No purpose. I wander the earth. Seeking forgiveness for my horrible crimes and against god and man. I wish to seek death, destruction. Evil, over the light. But the light cannot be extinguished. I live in a prison of my own demise.

  • to those of you how are thumps downing this, you should know that that is a secret message hidden with in the music for 0:48 through 1:13, but to here it you have to play the track backwards

  • That's the message isn't it!

  • what they say on 4:35?

  • we shall grind them into dust!

  • They made the arbiter in Halo Wars buff, and halo 2 arbiter weak

  • that's cuz they starvd him.

  • So THAT'S why the arbiter looks so different from normal elites!

  • is it me or is vadam naked or is he still wearing that skin tight stuff

  • he still has it on

  • you forgot the apostrophe.

'Vadam. but then im a nitpicker...

  • OMG!!! I LOVE Thel Vadam's voice! It's SO cool!!! :D

  • I just realized how horrible the graphics are in this game compared to Halo3

  • yeah maybe, but they are a hell of alot better than Halo 1

  • 2:16 - Maybe I'm just highly weird, but Thel 'Vadamee is kind of cute without his helmet =)

  • This is hilarious, lol

  • SORRY I ment 170 to 180

  • I think 17---18 total I THINK

  • arbiter is the 17th arbiter

  • really how do u know?

  • how many Arbiters were there before Thel Vadamee?

  • a lot....lol

  • a lot

  • seventeen.

Thel 'Vadamee (this arbiter) is the eighteenth arbiter in the line of immaculate sucession.

  • 4:02 that was my favorite part in the game just because it gave the covanent the same sence that the troops of the UNSC felt before battle.

    and btw...

    5:03 KISS!!! >D

  • I always hated the levels where you are in covenant buildings.

    In all halo's...

I just LOVE the earth/halo levels more

  • Who's the Elite in the white armor?what's his name?

  • Rtas 'Vadum. Or 'Vadam. Well I'm pretty sure the first name is correct.

  • Rtas 'Vadum.

  • Rtas Vadum spec-ops leader halo 2

    shipmaster in halo 3

  • Halo 2 has the best storyline, Halo 3 best multiplayer, Halo: Combat evolved, storyline equal to halo 2.

  • Yes it is, the sangheili have much greater strength and agility than humans.

  • but other then that and armor, no other enhancements. Normal humans wil get their ass kicked, but Master Chief and the other Spartans had surgery to make them faster and stronger. Plus the armor gives them even more strength and speed.

  • Any Sangheili above minor domo is stronger than Master cheif, then there is Thel Vadam (the arbiter) He would destroy Cheif.

  • No that is not true.

  • Okay, I was slightly wrong, any one above minor domo is at least equal in strength then they get progressivy stronger as you fight higher ranks. Thel Vadam would kick his ass.

  • i might sound stupid but wats a sagheili ()

  • they're elites

  • Elites are sangheili, brutes are jiralhanae, jackals are kig yar, and I cannot remember the grunts specie name right now.

  • Grunts ar Unggoy.

  • Unggoy. ;)

  • In my opinion,Arby 'n' the Chief are equal.I love them both.

  • But statistically, The Arbiter is stronger, and more capable of completeing these types of missions. MC is just lucky.

  • *sigh* The pornography that came upon this scene -_-

  • in 59 think if they had that elite armor in halo 3

  • Why the hell did they have to change Truth's voice in Halo 3? The voice here was a lot better i reckon.

  • That isn't Truth :/
