  • so big and beautiful

  • Gorgeous animal!

  • i cant wait to be wearing one of those

  • i hate how people say you can't keep them as pets.....

  • @Dan737MASTER i know. they were bred specifically for domestication!

  • i did a report on this animal and fell in love with it <3

  • very cute

  • she soo fat XD adorable

  • Über cute

  • so cool. i read that domesticated foxes are more like dogs. :)

  • @Runermanyoyo they are accually the opposite, they cant be trained like a dog, and most of them dont like to be snuggled.

  • @SnaxonU they start barking i think though

  • So gorgeous. What a lovely pet!

    I am glad i don't wear fur

  • I love Silver Fox. They are just so attractive

  • About 50 years ago a trade was made with Russia. Some Prince Edward Island Silver Foxes ( where the breed came from ) for some Sable. The Sable arrived ok but they were all neutered~! Prince Edward Island was world famous for Silver foxes and there were many Fox Ranches and Government promotion. Most farms had a few silver fox pens 70 years ago. Then the fox pelt market disappeared but coming back with Norwegian White foxes. Maybe a couple of small fox farms left on PEI.

  • how did u get the fox? where do u buy them? im really interested in having one as my pet. can u tell me the pros and cons for these foxes?

  • inow wonder why carlie te unicoron and flapjakc wanted to go to candymoutain

  • What a cutie.

  • OMG!! It's Umbreon!

  • Charlie! Come to the Candy Mountain Charlie!

  • I thought this was a sibfox at first...you used to be able to get them from farmers?

  • @Chuthuluku

That's where SibFox first got their foxes that they bred. But the ones from farmers aren't domesticated, so they don't act like dogs, like those from SibFox. Instead they might act likes tamed Foxes that were once wild.

  • @circlesofconfusion35 nifteresting

  • where they hung the jerk that invented work...talk about Utopia

  • Is this by anny chanse a Silver Fox from the Belyaev Experiment? - or from Russia in general?

  • how can you do this? a fox is not a pet..its a wild animal..and a hate furfarmers..i feel so sorry for this animals

  • @heidibli I don't think you understand. Faybee was obviously part of the Russian fox breeding experiment, made to make foxes nicer. Originally, it was beacuse they'd needed foxes that wouldn't put up as much of a fight when killed, (Ick.) but later it evolved into more of a program to test how foxes could be domesticated. They're now as sweet as a friendly dog, and available commercially. Faybee looks like she was one of the earlier foxes, as well as considering when she lived.

  • @NyxVetro And, just to continue that, looking at some of the other comments, the owner of the video did, in fact, say that Faybee was from a furfarmer, and therefore likely to be connected to the Russian foxes. It's not like someone just grabbed the fox out of the woods. Calling it a wild animal isn't completely true.

  • @heidibli Are you an idiot?

Domesticated Silver Foxes are domesticated. GET OVER IT.

    And what NyxVetro said

  • @heidibli Also, notice that it doesn't have the typical fox behavior.

  • @heidibli Also, notice that it doesn't have the typical fox behavior.

  • i was thinking about getting a pet fox but i need the liscens and the mony to get one so it will be a while befor i get one

  • Awwwww, Sooo Cute. I Love the song. Beautiful Fox. :D

  • You can now buy foxes from the Siberian fox farm where the first "domestication" experiments were started in the 1950's. They are quite tame and don't have the wild fox smell any more. They are also often spotted in color, some with floppy ears and curled tails. They act more like dogs than wild foxes. They aren't cheap, though; around $5000.00 each and they come spayed or neutered. Look on the internet under Sib Fox.

  • Faybee is a such a gorgous silver fox!

in ur opinion is she a good pet?

  • that is ONE cute 4 legged thing :D

  • What kind of food did you feed it? like did you feed it dog food

  • Beautiful Fox btw

  • LOL! Epic win for humanity! The Soviets tamed foxes in 50 years on accident, where early people needed thousands of years to tame wolves! I wonder what would happen if you would try to breed a Fox Dog and a Wolf Dog. It works with chihuahuas right? And they were bred from foxes.

  • @Gunnar120 It wasn't on accident.

  • @SoopoidShmezzle actually, they were trying to get animals easier to kill for their pelts, not nice pets.

  • beatiful

  • man, you couldn't have picked a more nostalgic sounding song.

  • i love foxes more than any thing

  • Great now i can't get the big rock candy mountain out of my head

  • When someone loses a pet it really upsets me. Pets are like family. Only they are the family you want around.

I just my silver fox a little over a week ago. Her name is Bela and she is just the friendliest thing out there. She loves people and pets. Dogs don't know what to do with her tho. They look at like what the hell are you? My only problem is she gets very aggressive with food. I hope we can work thru that. Best of luck to you and thanx for the great vids!!

  • do know if it's illegal to own one in new orleans

  • RIP Faybee. My pomeranian was also part silver fox, and i miss her dearly, even though it's been six or seven years. Life goes on, but the memories last even beyond a lifetime.

  • saw one of these guys wandering around the university...lol

  • Such a beautiful animal. I love how she had a dog looking body but a fox tail. Very unique and beautiful pet you had.

  • FOX! DO A BARREL ROLL!

  • they look a bit like raccoons..

  • @TheUTubeRebel no they do not !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheIrisdragonfly Wow, get a grip, I just stated my opinion

  • candy mountainnnnn!!

  • how tame are silver foxes compared to dogs? are they allowed in Massachusetts? I love foxes!

  • tubby tub

  • She's beautiful, I'm happy you were able to spend time with such a wonderful animal.

  • i would love to have a silver fox, are they trainable as dogs?

i bet their such a special animal to keep :)

  • They were created to be dog-like.

  • My Uncle Dan used to sing that song.

  • Is Faybee a Russian Tame Silver Fox?

  • She's such a cutie. What a beautiful animal. I love silver foxes, too.

  • What an incredibly beautiful animal! How blessed both of you are to have shared your lives like this.

  • Yes, presently silver foxes and other mutations of the red fox are being bred in Canada, extreme northern states in North America, and Europe. There is also an interspecies hybrid of the silver fox and the arctic fox. The hybrids are sterile but they combine the shorter fur of the arctic with the color range of the silvers. I have the skulls of two of them.

  • Are the foxes being bred in Canada bred to be domestic? Are they for sale?

  • They are occasionally for sale, usually by privately contacting a breeder. They're breeding for fur characteristics rather than temperament, but generally ranched foxes are less flighty and jittery than wild foxes.

  • @FieldBoots In russia.

  • so beautiful.

  • I'm doing a report on foxes and I want to know if they still sell Silver Tame Foxes or if they are extinct, everything I've found on them dates back to 1999-2004.

    Thanks.

  • They are still being bred in Russia but I don't believe they are for sale in any country.

  • You can buy silver fox kits from Tiny Tracks Exotic pets in Indiana

  • I read an article that was posted on Jan 21, 2009 saying people in Russia can buy a domesticated Silver Fox for $2000. It's all the craze apparently.

YouTube won't let me link the URL. See my Favorite section for "Fox in a Box - New Pet Craze" for article video. Or go to RussiaToday channel for it.

  • Russians sell them to get some funding for their research.

  • The lab in Russia that bred them, sold them as pets to fund their research.

  • She was so beautiful! Do you live in Russia, because I know that up there they sell silver foxes as pets. Of all your videos, this was the sweetest. She always looked happy. If I may ask, where did the name come from?

  • What a great tribute, you probably miss her a bunch.

  • What an awesome animal. Sorry to hear of your loss, but I'm glad she had a nice long life. I read regular wild foxes have an average lifespan of 3-4 years and only a few more years in captivity.

  • At least I got to listen to a classical depression era song...

  • what a beautiful animal she was. :)

  • thats a pretty sweet animal. i've never seen a non orange fox.

    pretty good :)

you could add your video to one of those video contests, like yobi film

  • Where/How did you get her? When I get my own place, I definitely would like a Silver/Domesticated Fox.

  • not all silver foxes are domesticated... just the russian ones bred by Belyaev durring the soviet union

  • I was under the impression that the original poster of this video owned or owns a Silver Fox. You're highly naive if you think I want or wanted one simply by watching this video.

You're coming off as extremely rude and ignorant. Don't assume that I want/wanted one on impulse.

  • What an incredibly gorgeous animal. Look at her tail OMG :O Sooooooo adorable! :)

I am sorry that she has passed away. However, 14 yrs is a good life span for a fox. I bet she was far more energetic than a dog or a domestic cat? Must be quite naughty! How did you manage? Did she eat raw meat?

  • oh my god is a silver fox legal in the us? I really want one X3

  • oh my god you should probably not be so compulsive with such a thing because you think it's so kyo0t X3.

  • woah dude chill, I'm never actually gunna get one, but I'm still aloud to want one right? Sometimes I wanna punch people in the face but I don't...usually...

  • wow. you're kind of a douche, eh? do you run around all of youtube being a prick or do you reserve that for fox-related videos?

  • you're allowed to make your opinion known, and so am i. i was never in "it". i think you missed the point: you're a douche. that's all i was saying.

  • let's re-cap: what did i initially say that was so unbelievably offensive? read it again, it's not a big freaking deal. i'm not incredibly omniscient lately, so i didn't know if 'cheatchick555' had just been persuaded to go out and buy a fox. so, i said i certainly hope they haven't been. and this is the point: "littlefrock" posted this video to share their beautiful fox with other people, not to host petty youtube bickering.

with that, i'm done. sorry for the trouble littlefrock.

  • its been two years since i lost my fox i still cry every night for my poor baby...

  • oh, forgot to ask where to turn to for more info about.. kennels? thanks again.

  • In 1990 she was $150. But that was from a fur farmer who is no longer in the biz. She was quite a handful though, I could not have done it alone, and vacations were not an option either, can't board her in a kennel of course! Foxes are very demanding, do not think she was like this all the time!

  • such an incredible pet. what did you pay for it and how did you get a license?? i've seriously made it a life goal to have a pet fox. im in love. thanks for the videos, amongst the most faschinating videos i've seen on youtube so far.

  • Back then you didnt need a license. Glad you enjoy my videos, I wish I had a lot more taken during her life.

  • where can i get one in the future?

  • =] it looks like a raccoon dog, and it's SO FAT!!! ADORABLE xDDD

  • 14 years, WOW that's a long ride for a fox!

She looks plump, but that was the fur, yes?

  • she was in a pretty full coat even in May. In August, she would blow her coat (she would shed a little in the winter too, I think because of being indoors). I have a great clip of her nearly 'naked', working on a roast bone. We would call her a silver-backed jackal because she looked so different. I will post that soon....

  • She is beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Love her tail!!!

  • It's great that you were able to capture Faybee on film, she's really a beautiful creature.

  • She's gorgeous and no doubt a beloved friend. R.I.P. Faybee

  • Thank you SpiritWhiteFox2...I just joined YouTube a couple of days ago and it is nice to be welcomed by such a kind comment. I hope all future commentary is as thoughtful. I also love watching other fox owners' videos as well. I wish there were more silvers though! -LittleFrock

  • I'm SO glad that you have decided to join YouTube! Your knowlege and experiences will be of great benefit to many viewers I'm sure! I can never thank you enough! :o)
