in my opinion, this is the most simple and the best self defence that is out there, forget fancy moves like in kung fu and karate, cuz the best way to defend yourself is to stop the attacker from being able to attack you, at the same time being able to attack him/her to protect yourself, and krav maga is exacly that kind of martial art/self defence techniques.

im hoping to start training Krav Maga in a couple of years, but first i want to lose some weight, lol XD

I love Krav. It's a great defensive system. No glory, belts, etc. It truly teaches you to disarm and make a get-away. MMA is great, but what do you do when there are no rules? Krav's a great cardio system too. LOVE IT

In Israeli Krav Maga nothing is made for effect or show. Everything you see has a specific and practical purpose, for example, when it comes to knife defences, there are basic defence techniques and, of course, advance. I'm sure you don't really think that your "basic" 360 degree defence works in every situation?? Advanced techniques are for specific situations, where basic ones would not work. IKM gives you more tools to use for defence, but whether you learn only basic ones depends on you.

The thing with Krav Maga is that you attack and defend at the same time. Yes, when an attacker has a knife they are going to attack you multiple times. If you are good enough at Krav Maga like the people in this video, you get inside their defense and they only get one swing before you disarm and take control of the situation. It's fast, almost instantaneous. That is the beauty of Krav Maga. It's not meant to be showy or to create a long fight, it's made to end a fight as quickly as possible.

I have looked over all sorts of martial arts watched what might work in real life threatening situations and what wouldnt. I have to say that hands down Krav Maga is the most NO nonsense contact combat system in the world to protect you and those you care for. I really want to learn this system. I don't know why they don't teach belt attacks when a thug pulls a knife on you. This is much safer. Or throw any change in your pocket into his face then kick him hard and leave the scene. I know Krav Maga is good, but they should include this in their defense method.

In the street fighting the grappling is important, but if you have more than 1 man against you is better to know low kick and short punch tenchnics. If you fight against 2 or 3 men with kinfes only with grappling they cut you sure.

Krav Magá IS an effective system. I've only done it for four months and I am able to dispatch of all of my friends in sparring who have done other martial arts for years. Taekwondo instructor, Judo blackbelt, Karate blackbelt, a couple of boxers and a Roman wrestler. It's time efficient and requires zero thought. Chances are you have no idea about the effect of the drills Krav Magá puts you through to give you head space in the tightest and fastest moving situations.
