actually, this is true. ruth handler did come across that doll (not the inflated one in the video lol) & suggested mattel make a doll like it for girls. barbie was the 1st mass produced american doll to have boobs which handler thought girls would like because they aspired to have cleavage like hollywood stars & fashion models. barbie was also, at 1st, a teen model because girls fantasized about being models. the boobs caused an uproar but barbie was a huge hit.

I read in one source that Mattel bought the American rights to Lilli; but other sources claim they stole the idea outright. Ironically, Barbie's "creator" (How could she create a doll that already existed?) named BARBIE (the former Lilli) after her own daughter.
