Well as time went on it seems we've become enlightened; so much that we've come to devolve, just as the entire world has come to seem so interesting. Accordingly, we're into the same things (so to speak)as we will be for quite a while. The whole function seems to have inverted. And we wonder about intelligent design. Is it entropy? It's always some erudite reconciling of energy. We should all do well to explore precisely that. Really, what is the most important thing in the world- for the world?
The Intro Beat is taken from "Harmonika" a Kraftwerk Song That dates back to 1972.......it takes a Classic Hit To make another..........when listening to Harmonika ...got to .23 seconds of the song....and tell me If i am Not De-Cyphering Music ......I have a Keen Ear...that is like a 3rd Eye Open......
The lyrics along with the video remind me of G. Orwell's "1984", in which they tell you not to worry, it's a beautiful place, but beneath the surface... Don't worry... all is fine. Big Brother is watching all the time.
when i listen to this i can hear... computers still on with no one warking them as they slowly degrade to the ages....and become more and more corrupt....their memories fading....the sound of pure loneliness......and flashes of before...when they were brand new.. faded and corrupted like the computers
@scottie644 you got it backwards. the dystopic Kafka-esque future run by machinery was pressaged in works far earlier than even Fritz Lang's Metropolis, but came to the fore in popular cinema after the era of 'bright future' pulp sci-fi, continuing to this day in modern scifi flicks (so many of which are from Philip K Dick's books). THX1138 is a milestone certainly, but not the original. Portal is a latecommer
To me, how the song changes at 6 mins seems to speak of a loss of innocence; a fading childhood. The chatter in the background represents a job role, as an adult.
When I close my eyes, I see a viral outbreak just before the beginning of an apocalypse... Everyone running around a large, populated city on a dark rainy morning, going about their daily business, with the plague unknowingly spreading like wildfire right under their noses...
I love the atmosphere that the video creates, i always felt a panicking sort of emotion with the song drum beat and skittering voice, guess you saw it that way also
I imagine a very creepy forest that takes shapes like the shadows of itself changing in the moonlight. As I am venturing, I can see nothing like it is, it's constantly changing. There I am admiring it, instead of being creeped out by it.
Voices help me along the way, getting me to the moon, the only place where things are like they are, the end of my journey where I find peace within me
Nothing comes close to that Boc feeling, the innocent child like memories and the feeling of nostalgia.I have a very eclectic taste in music but Boc is the only artist that can bring these emotions out of me.
This surrealistic, dark video definitely matches this dark, dreamlike, psychedelic BOC song. Both the video (Early Lucas!) and this particular BOC strange, dreamlike music make one feel out of this world....
Running endlessly through a dark hallway, with pulsating music singing in an alien voice "A beautiful place, a beautiful place"...
This somehow reminds me of the journey into life or whatever it was called. You know, that movie that you had to watch in health about child birth? Yeah, that one.
I find Geogaddi, the song that this is off, to be a rather different album to the others that BOC have done. experimental and so creative. i think the album is somewhat more darker.
@other6people I get an "eerie" vibe from a lot of boards of Canada songs.. but its more like of an embracing of the strangeness. like when on psychedelic.
Very goood video, BUT this is not how i imagine this song so it is hard to watch for me. when i listen to this song i imagine a very positive scene... not this scary video. i hope u understand. goood video, it goes well with the tune but just not how ive pictured it...... if u know what i mean. private mail me if u want to discuss.
No need to private mail. I see this song with a heightened sense of duality that goes beyond anything else BoC has written - that is, it's the most enigmatic; it's mood is the least straightforward. I often think of this song as an after-rain nature scene due to how the song sounds reversed (Like long low pitched wind chimes.)
For a song like Roygbiv, it's hard to interpret multiple ways, but for this one it's extremely simple.
i am i be,...........

@MrTsiolkovsky BoC really only have two moods, it seems: happy, optimistic nostalgia, and eerie, semi-occult creepiness. (And combinations thereof.)
