I totally agree about the score-- I'm a big fan of TV and movie scores, especially the 80's style scores with heavy synthesizers ("Equalizer" was a huge example of this), and Annihilator was no exception. Back then I also watched Airwolf, Otherworld, Equalizer, Stingray (yikes), Wiseguy (sometimes) and so forth...

Sylvester Levay simply rocks... he's the personification of the 80s in my opinion.

Thanks for your kind words. I've tried hard editing those scores. Been on one hell of a Sylvester Levay kick lately. The quality of Annihilator has always bothered me and I'm attempting to make it better.

As for a copy, I might consider buying one. I hope it's stereo. At the time of it's release, I don't think TV was in stereo. I downloaded a torrent a long time ago. The quality was very good, but the sound was dreadful.

That's a good question but since I recorded this a very long time ago on a VCR I don't suppose so.

I'm just about finish with a score for this movie from the Spanish VHS and this chase scene has music and effects. Currently, I'm editing the entire track to be instrumental. If there was at all stereo audio from this movie (I think there is not)\, editing the score to be instrumental would be a piece of cake.

Due to intense research I recently managed to get hold of an original copy on VHS via Ebay.

It says "Made in Australia" but other than that there's no word about its audio characteristics.

If it would be of help I could copy it on a DVD. The picture quality is horrible due to its age. The sound is still quite nice but with some background noise.

I remember seeing this on HBO more than 20yrs ago and not bad. I just wish there could've been some info on how the people on the plane were turned into evil robots. Interesting premise that was worth a look.

I used to own this on PAL VHS, and it was the DUMBEST day of my life when I got rid of it back in the birth throes of DVD...

STUPIDLY I thought this would turn upon DVD SOMEWHERE on the planet...

There are so many great movies from the 80's that never saw the light of day again.

THis was a classic of the 80's telemovie scene. I remember the night it came on. There was a thunderstorm and the power kept being interupted. I nearly missed the movie. Rod and Bruce Taylor had some inventive ideas back then, as shown in their writing for this and Otherworld. I also love the soundtrack. Udi Harpaz went on to score one of my favorite animated series "Centurions" and Sylvester Levay of course did great work on his own and with Tangerine Dream.

Fuck! Den hab ich mit 10 gesehen, danach hatte ich Jahrelang Alpträume. Ich schau mir Splatter an, seit dem ich 4 bin und der war der erste Film, der mich wieder gegruselt hatte.

Mir hatte danach nie wieder n Film so gegruselt, bis auf Exorzist.

Dude, wir haben quasi das selbe Trauma mit dem Film!

Ich war damals 14 und Albträume hatte ich Gott sei Dank nur ein paar Wochen. :-)

Splatterfilme mag ich allerdings gar nicht.

Diesen Film hier kann man ja auch kaum als Splatter bezeichnen. Vielmehr Sci-Fi oder gerade noch Horror. ;-)

Aber du hast Recht: "Der Exorzist" war auch sehr unheimlich. Als Kind ist das natürlich besonders hart. Ich glaube aber bei "Annihilator", dass da die faszinierende 80er-Musik dazu entscheidend mit beiträgt.

Wenn es die nur auf CD gäbe... :-)

"Die Roboter kommen" ist der TV-Titel dieses Piloten. Im Video-Verleih hieß der Film "Die Androiden".

Ich hab den Streifen auch 1993 zum ersten Mal gesehen. Der lief damals im Nachtprogramm der ARD und hat mir eine Höllenangst eingejagt. Aber seither bin ich davon fasziniert. :-)

In den letzten Monaten lief er auch schon zwei Mal auf "Das Vierte", aber trotzdem muss gesagt werden, dass die deutsche Synchro echt grottenschlecht ist. :-D
