obviously you need an airtank to run those puppies, and eventually the pressure would run down, could you not use a turbo charger like a compressor to save having to use an electrical compressor? or does your pickup have a compressor for its brake system?
There was a 3LR for sale at a swap meet I was at in Santa Clarita, CA today that sold for $5. Was just about to buy it when someone came up and had said they already paid for it and got it before me.
man that horn is loud! haha, and tht 2nd gen cummins sounds nasty as well, my 3rd gen sounds like crap compared to the 2nd gens i need to do the manifold swap.
cool video great combination a great truck with an equally great horn I miss my old Dodge I had with that engine in it I have a older Ford now that I am going to put my oldcast P5 on the top of
depends on where the EGT sensor is located. If you follow the directions an put it in the downpipe elbow 1000 degress is ok. anything past 1275 usually is bad. If its in the manifold 1000 degress is actually about 850 at the downpipe elbow.
The directions don't say that, a useful EGT gauge is in the exh. manifold so you get an exact temp on what the exh is coming right out of the cylinders, in the downpipe after the turbo is unaccurate.
I know the instructions say that, but the engineers at cummins say another thing, mounting it after the turbo also "buffers" the heat signal. It's similar to passing a torch over a spoon, the surface sees 1300 degrees quickly but when the flame is removed the temp drops just as quickly. Getting a reading after the turbo "buffers" the temp and gives a more consistant, accurate "heat" reading, not just an instantenous flame burst from the exhaust port. Call cummins or holset. They wont lie to you.
Yea it would be a pain I have one and havent even attempted to put it on my truck. I need alot more air for that haha. What setup are you running for the compressor and tank. Check out the rs3l videos I put up see how they sound compared to yours.
I have one Viair 450 compressor and a five gallon tank. And a electric valve silonoid to blow the horn. Which is not enough. I am going to get a much larger tank and another compressor soon. Hook that badboy up on your truck and post a vid!
Yea I got the same setup. Viair 480c compressor and 5 gallon tank. Just added a 11 gallon but thats to big for the single viair to pump up. You should use a ball valve or a horn valve instead of he solenoid. Its alot better you can control the air going to each bell.
