Hello TND, I dunno, I would say, this is pretty much the album with the biggest difference between tracks from all releases. I lack in you revivews the talking about atmospere or lyrical themes, that is what bm is about, right. I really like the shredding in this album. By the way, try to make some review for pretty interesting (at least for me and many people out-there) ambiet-black furies from cosmical Darkspace.

The 11 Thorns also represent the 11 Aeon's i.e. Moloch, Beelzebuth, Lucifuge Rofocale, Astaroth, Asmodeus, Belfegor, Baal, Adramelech, Lilith, Naamah and Satan. Azerate is all the eleven "demons" united. These "demons" are the worship of MLO (Misanthropic Luciferian Order) famously followed by Dissection (collaborators on 11 Thorns). Therefore the album name could have a load of different names. Arckanum also released an 11 year anniversary album. No coincidence!..And thats good night from me.

@MrHumlan83 No, this is completely wrong. They are the Thurisaz runes which represent chaos. They do have a similarity to the anti-cosmic current, but not the anti-cosmic satanism tradition.

They mean "Thorn" in old english, but the original meaning is the actual runic meaning.

Well, the rune thorn is actually from the Anglo/Frisian Futhorc runic set. For Old Norse and whatnot they used Younger Futhark. In this runic set, the rune is called Thurs. Thurisas in Elder Futhark.

The reason the album is centered around 11 is because in Arckanum's religion, Anti-Cosmic Satanism, there are 11 manifestations and eons of a greater god know as Azerate. The highest manifestation is Satan-Lucifer.

Oh, dude. You royally fucked it up at about 4.40. Otherwise, pretty good review - I disagree that it's at all good as an album, but you reviewed it well.  Your suggestion at the end is crucial for a lot of Black Metal - too many bands blast their way through nine or ten tracks with no change in atmosphere/texture at all (and with crap music, to boot!).

Most certainly one of the most underated BM projects ever. Great choice, its rare to find people into Fly Lo, Ariel Pink and Arckanum, respect!

About my view on this album, I agree mostly with what you say, I just miss a bit of that old atmosphere of his classic first 4 albums .. still its fine to see the guy still holds his own so well being such an iconoclast and underated act, big kudos 4 him ..

I think. since it was a charm anyway, I doubt its meant for pronounciation....
