Croatia had one of the strongest teams of the world back in those days. And Germany was just plain aweful. The Euro 98 was one of te reasons for the youth developement that pays off for us. So we have to be kind of thankful to the Croats ;)

Croatia had a great team in 1998 - my country (Germany) had a team that was REALLY bad (Wörns, Nowotny, Heinrich etc. - born losers, all of them!). The only good thing about that day was that nobody in Germany knew that our worst performance of all time was still to come: EURO 2000 with Erich Ribbeck as a "team manager" who managed to get actually nothing managed the right way at all - and a "team" consisting of eleven bad jokes wearing the same jersey.

Red card decided that game, if it werent for red card, I personally think you would have won. We also won 2008 and beaten your ass pretty well. But in 2012, I think u will won EURO for sure. Only real threat to you are spanish team. Of course, I will cheer for croatia. After croatia, i will cheer for germany. Great country!

After Italia 90, the decade was bad for the Germans at the World Championship. They were knocked out in the quarter finals in '94 as holders, and '98 as Euro champions.
