My great-great grandfather and great-grandfather lived through the famine in North Roscommon, and you don't have to be told how bad it was there. Cowen is the wrong man to be in charge of a country that is practically on its knees and riddled with debt. Just listened to this interview. To be fair , Brian Cowens voice does sound hoarse but in no way does this sound like a man who is drunk or under the influence of alcohol. I do not think anyone could give the types of detailed answers that he has given to the interviewer , while drunk or under the influence.

Cowen is the wrong man to be in charge of a country that is practically on its knees and riddled with debt. His interviews never were inspirational in the first place and that one was the final straw. His own back bencher's want him out so thats a good indication that he is one the way out anyway. But he is arrogant and stubborn and will have to be pushed rather than step down. The decisions he made while finance minister has ruined Ireland but he will never admit it. Same as Haughey !

I've just listened to this for the first time too, and I can't believe the hype about this in the media. I'm actually kinda disappointed, I thought I'd be in for a good laugh or at least some finger wagging! ;-) Sounds like the "opposition's" spin machine is working in overdrive.

Look, Irelands in shit for the same reasons the UK is in shit. Banks loaned a shit load of money to greedy bastards who took more than they could afford. When small 3 bed estate houses were costing half a mill something was wrong. but the worst thing about the boom was everyone became a shithead- oh look at what I just bought, guess how much I earn- what happened to real Ireland where people cared about each other, not fuckin their cars- at that point I fuckin left..
