To the question of whether officers are required to wear seat belts, the answer is not at all times. But it's important to note that police are not exempt from wearing seat belts just because they're on duty.

Any upstanding officer would have no issue with someone pointing out to them that an action they are doing is illegal. If one becomes irate it clearly shows they feel they are above the law and how dare a lowly puke citizen would point it out to them.

Police have to get out of the car fast at times? What maybe once a month. We have to pay their hospital bills when they get hurt in a wreck. How long does it take to undo a seat belt .5 seconds. If any of these officers were worried about speed they would not weigh 250-300 lbs. Lose 50 pounds will more than make up for wearing a seat belt.

If an officer is doing something either illegal or outside of policy then you have the right to stop them, file a report or complaint, even give Them a ticket for negligence. Not sure what the law is in your state but in Montana where I am originally from, emergency workers such as police, firemen, emts, are actually held more accountable to the laws... i.e if a emergency worker runs a red light while in pursuit and causes an accident he is held more accountable for his actions because he has been "trained" for emergency driving. Those are totally valid fears. Those things happen all the time, particularly to copwatch activists. Google "Copwatch Portland" to get some info on a particularly active copwatch program that deals with a particularly violent and aggressive police department.

Cops, including training officers NATIONALLY, say that seat belts do not prevent officers from egressing a vehicle in a timely fashion. In fact, there is no documented case of a police officer being injured or negatively impacted because he could not get out of a vehicle after a vehicle pursuit or during a response to a call.
There are however, unumerable documented cases of officers injured or killed while not wearing seat belts.

When you get pulled over be respectful and talk nice and you will probably get a warning. Pull this constitution crap and make a mionr traffic stop into an issue and a cop will write you up. Police have to get out of the car fast at times? What maybe once a month. We have to pay their hospital bills when they get hurt in a wreck. How long does it take to undo a seat belt .5 seconds. If any of these officers were worried about speed they would not weigh 250-300 lbs. Lose 50 pounds will more than make up for wearing a seat belt.

Not sure what the law is in your state but in Montana where I am originally from, emergency workers such as police, firemen, emts, are actually held more accountable to the laws... i.e if a emergency worker runs a red light while in pursuit and causes an accident he is held more accountable for his actions because he has been "trained" for emergency driving. I now live in Fargo ND and see police with no seatbelts on a daily basis.... It's crap. Keep up the good work. Love the videos

In fact, there is no documented case of a police officer being injured or negatively impacted because he could not get out of a vehicle after a vehicle pursuit or during a response to a call.
There are however, unumerable documented cases of officers injured or killed while not wearing seat belts.

almost everyone has a camera in America, its not strange. Almost every cellphone has a video camera with audio support, so i wonder why he asks that...especially when he drives around with them

As a former police officer this officer better go back to the academy he is required by law to wear a seat belt, secondly he turns his back on the guy to check his I.D. making himself vulnerable should the man want to harm him he also left his gun unprotected

lol. you don't even know your rights. the right to not give id is a right(in some states), but it's not in A1. It is law in some states. The officer just wants to know who you are.
