Love the "scope" featured in the video, Iv'e worked for 3 radio stations over the years, and none of them ever had a "scope" in the studio. The rest of the kit looks authentic though!
I was in a happy mood, so I sought out this song; hadn't heard it since 1979 but never forgot it! I can imagine that even if you are not in a happy mood, this might just put you there :)
I listened to this at the funfair yesterday, It was thumping out and brought back memories of when I used to go on the waltzer......... There were loads of people moving to it ..... this is timeless feelgood music....... I remember when i saw him, he was larger than life along with Roy Wood (Elo) at the nec, they were both absolutely Brill ..........
ryanfrombrum.. couldn't agree more! I met Edwin on a number of occassions, he sat and had a drink with us, pulled me up on stage to dance.. I will never ever forget him, what a legend and an amazing man!

@BokSally LISTEN TO PATRICK HERNANDEZ/ BORN TO BE ALIVE/ THE 2 SONGS SWITCHED BACK & FORTH 4 A FEW MONTHS AS NO. 1 ON THE CHARTS, BACK IN 79 . I WAS THERE!
Hi all, Im new to this but I was there too!! still have happy radio on 12" vinyl and patrick hernandez, born to be alive! ( thought I was the only one that loved it!)
Pessoal essa música não é da minha época mas confesso para todos que passaram por aqui e viveram aquela época que gostei muito, música de boa qualidade parabéns Edwin Starr onde voçê estiver...
love this song, brings back such memories. wish he did more Disco. it was such a happy music, forget the problems, dance, look good and enjoy. No such music ever since. We need disco and the gifts it brings now more than ever. a bit of escape for reality. Just sing, dance and look good if even for a few moments, it's healing.
@eckankar Discos have all closed down now and no one would have the money to go in them. The 'night clubs' aren't glamourous no more, just banging synth white noise with no melody for 'music' and 15 year old kids strung out on hard drugs and being sick
guys this man is great. to bad hes not here anymore. all the great artists die. elvis, mj, him. sucks. But this guy has great songs. to bad music nowadays is all shity. no one gets you when you talk about these great artists anymore. oh well good music will always live on. :)
Met him once at a "Party in the Park" gig and he signed my plastercast - I saw him again about three months later at Asda Supermarket in Tamworth (near where he lived) and he said "i see your arms got better then mate" What a legend - R.I.P Edwin ! You are missed !!!
@ryanfrombrum And whats so special about that is that most celebrities are that uptight that they wouldnt remember anything that happened at a gig the night before. This man was never self centered, as you point out - he always put his fans before him. He IS a legend, just now in the next world.
Dear lord,

His final major hit in the U.K. He moved over here in the 1980's due to lack of chart success in the States I believe. The song is still his best moment in my opinion though...
its not a flatscreen tv. its the small window between the soundmixer and the singer. it cant be faked because edwin starr died befor even the first flat screen tv was born.

This wasn't my favourite 70s song by far but I always think how can Edwin Starr perform (did he write his own material?) H A P P Y Radio and
then sing 'WAR' one of the most brilliant, relevant songs ever? The songs are poles apart.
I suppose you could argue that about alot of groups/singers.
