  • Love the "scope" featured in the video, Iv'e worked for 3 radio stations over the years, and none of them ever had a "scope" in the studio. The rest of the kit looks authentic though!

  • Love this song!!!

  • "Glad to see you again. I haven't seen you since I don't know when." I never knew where it came from. good to know.

  • Edwin Starr's best

  • @maddisonpaigebieber Yeah, well, no one cares about your mom. Oh yeah, and what in the world is a mum?

  • @ianater900 You must be American. "Mum" is used for your mother instead of "Mom" in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. Not sure what Canada uses.

  • @maddisonpaigebieber Ok. Thank you for the lesson :)

  • YES he did make my RADIO H*A*P*PY !!!!!!!!!!

  • love this song, brings back such memories. wish he did more Disco. it was such a happy music, forget the problems, dance, look good and enjoy. No such music ever since. We need disco and the gifts it brings now more than ever. a bit of escape for reality. Just sing, dance and look good if even for a few moments, it's healing.

  • @eckankar Jesus Christ!!! You couldn't have said it better!!!

  • @eckankar Discos have all closed down now and no one would have the money to go in them. The 'night clubs' aren't glamourous no more, just banging synth white noise with no melody for 'music' and 15 year old kids strung out on hard drugs and being sick

  • such a good happy tune brilliant vote up guys xxx n girls xxxx

  • guys this man is great. to bad hes not here anymore. all the great artists die. elvis, mj, him. sucks. But this guy has great songs. to bad music nowadays is all shity. no one gets you when you talk about these great artists anymore. oh well good music will always live on. :)

  • Göttlich !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Met the great man a number of times - he drank with us, got me up on stage to dance.. never forgot a fan! So badly missed!

  • Absolute cracker. You can't help smiling at it.

  • What can I say apart from - Edwin......you star. God bless you. The Disco King

  • Such a great feelgood tune, you just have to smile while youre listening.

A really great time for music 70"s and 80"s.

  • Man, I love this song! What a freakin' amazing feel good song! Great energy too!

Still sounds amazing 31 years later.

It makes me wonder why my local radio station music director, at the time, would turn down a song like this.

    RIP Edwin.

  • RIP!EDWIN!!

  • One of the all time classics of the 70's disco era, hitting the UK charts in May 1979 and staying there for 11 weeks, topping out at No9

  • does anyone know how to get this song as a ringtone so that i can have a H.A.P.P.Y Radio???

  • @Pina109 wish i knew id be jumping every time my phone went off

  • Cheshire Cat in Nantwich Memory's

  • Man, this was the cut...3rd Grade....lol....1979

  • So underrated.

Met him once at a "Party in the Park" gig and he signed my plastercast - I saw him again about three months later at Asda Supermarket in Tamworth (near where he lived) and he said "i see your arms got better then mate" What a legend - R.I.P Edwin ! You are missed !!!

  • You take the words out of my mouth. Sick and tired of always hearing the "'War' one-hit-wonder" thing...

  • Dude you are so right!! Contact in 25 miles so SOS and stop her on sight! You know what I'm saying.

  • @ryanfrombrum You were lucky to meet him:P

im just 17 now and Im the only young dude of my town who listens too REAL music like this:P

most of my friends listen 50 cent ,bieber and that other scumshit that calls themself "music artists"

  • @TheKustomized im just like u ... 18 and only one around the block who listens to real music

  • @ryanfrombrum I love artists who actually remember and cherish their fans :) What a legend

  • @ryanfrombrum And whats so special about that is that most celebrities are that uptight that they wouldnt remember anything that happened at a gig the night before. This man was never self centered, as you point out - he always put his fans before him. He IS a legend, just now in the next world.

    Dear lord,

You may not like this, but please may we have Edwin back? You can have Justin Beiber by all means!! Or rebecca Black, OR BOTH if it means we get Edwin back.

    Taa. :)

  • Belting tune, he was a legend nd still is. This and 25miles are my two favourte tracks. Still play em both when I'm djing.

  • His final major hit in the U.K. He moved over here in the 1980's due to lack of chart success in the States I believe. The song is still his best moment in my opinion though...

  • i dance to this song all the time its great x

  • love edwin starr

  • sooo good...

  • THIS IS THE TOP MAN.

  • Is there anyone out there who can post 'Stronger Than You Think I Am'? I used to love that - had it on vinyl years ago.

  • yes possible i have that record

  • That would be great - thank you!

  • man i love this music...

  • I have butterflies listening to this tune. :)

Its a shame the audio is not in sync, but great upload anyway.

  • It's a musical natural high...we plan to help your day go by

  • I always associate this song as one of the first i heard returning to England in '79, after living in New York for 6 years. Love the bass hook. Though Edwin was american, he became one of ours, lived here for many years until he passed on. Lovely song

  • This wasn't my favourite 70s song by far but I always think how can Edwin Starr perform (did he write his own material?) H A P P Y Radio and

then sing 'WAR' one of the most brilliant, relevant songs ever? The songs are poles apart.

I suppose you could argue that about alot of groups/singers.

  • Was lucky enough to be a teenager when this was in the charts and danced to this a million times. Love it so much. Thank you for the music Edwin!

  • man even i love this music an i was born in 1990

  • Glad to see you again, I haven't seen you since I don't know when (don't know when), we are the Aris-to-crat of Bands and we are the Best Band (Best Band) Best Band in the laaand!

    Thanks for the tune, Edwin.

  • Happy Happy tune, Edwin was a lovely man, used to play a lot of scooter rallys...if you ever feel down - just play this! :)

  • I was privilaged to see Edwin sing this song live at the Leamington Spa Centre twice.Best vocalist male I have heard ,but more than that was his radiant stage presence and friendliness to the audiance. When he wasnt singing he was smiling.God bless you Edwin

  • Love it so much! Makes me wanna smile & get onto my feet & dance!

  • I have been dancing to this all day! What a great song . The old ones are the best

  • Good on you! I agree with what you say SlushPile! One of the coolest songs ever!

  • They should re-release this song. Sad that he died

  • I agree - they really should re-release it. How could anyone in the world be miserable when there's such a great tune about. I was having a bad day yesterday & just hearing this song made me feel sooooo much better!

  • gggggggrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaattttttttttt!

  • Omg!! tune!

    xxxxxxxxxxx

  • wow this is a very good song!

    echt genial!!

  • Still BRILL after all these years.

  • what can u say but awesome :o)

  • I remember in 1979 being at my local club which was the hottest place in town watching Edwin!!! Oh god that was the time of my life. Surrounded my good looking, fit blackmen dancing their knackers off. At least 5 to every woman, fighting em off with sticks we were!!! I am now married to some 20 years later to one em!!! He always said it was the way I danced to this!!

  • Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawesome

  • i loveeee

  • I love this song... it's beast! :p

  • This is without doubts one of the best dance songs ever!!!

  • You need to sync the video and audio. Nice song but poor video.

  • Do i?,It comes s it is mate.

  • as it is.

  • Yes, Mate, ya do. It is a video not radio.

BTW, the song is great and there is a fabulous line dance choreographed to it by Frank Trace. I love the song!!! But sync it up, Mate.

  • Is it the electric slide?

  • It's Top of the Pop's from about 1978... Which always had shite dubbing... This one is quite good...

  • edwin is a starr.....fsho!!!

  • What a song. What a smile. What a Starr. :)

  • this song makes me happy.

  • I remember my friend Anthony riding up with a brand new 10 speed bike that had a radio on it in the summmer of 1979...this song was on...I loved it ever since...Disco is and was the best music ever !!

  • Edwin Starr had a two of his songs for Motown like "25 Miles" and "War". After Edwin left, he went to the 20th Century-Fox label to release two of his post-Motown tunes like "Contact" and "H-A-P-P-Y Radio". That song wasn't a success in the US.

  • I think it was a hit in the US

  • Finaly I find this song. At last. I have searched for it during some years now. Didn't remember the name of the song. Just remember that it was in 79. Fabulous. A classic.

  • This is the ultimate FEEL GOOD song, and great news this generation realise it too.

  • classic song, still sounds so fresh. Great song to listern to when your driving on a hot summers day, radio cranked up.

  • sure is

  • Great song. I was lucky enough to see Edwin in concert a few years ago. He had more energy and enthusiasm than any of today's artists. Fantastic performer.

  • Great!
