I can't see the [expletive deleted] thing," said RAAF Squadron Leader Stephen Chappell, exchange F-15 pilot in the 65th Aggressor Squadron. "It won't let me put a weapons system on it, even when I can see it visually through the canopy. [Flying against the F-22] annoys the hell out of me."
@bna0001 youd be surprised but lots of the Russian comments are marveling the aircraft, the only criticism iv read is that this aircraft is too expensive. Its mostly anti-western westerners who irrationally criticize this aircraft & basically everything the west has/is. Their brainwashed & ungrateful of what they have as citizens.
@82ndairborne100 You said "how does it make the smoke"... Dew point....... makes condensation aka clouds..... i was answering your question high speed
@15Qabbey I didn't say "How does it make the smoke" It must have been someone commenting off of my comment that said, "Wow, It can make its own smoke screen!"
and whats even more beautiful is that the F-22 is an international ( alright, N.A.T.O) effort. no one country can produce these, it takes several including Britain, America and Italy, too make these.
Ok Kids here is the real word, You guys say Russian aircraft are bad cause of the export models, well DUH why the hell would Russia give their real tech to some nation that might give it to US? Most of the High Tech stuff and components the Russians keep to themselves and export semi or basically empty export models, or have different technology for export models, so don't base that Russian stuff are bad because the USSR only exported skeleton weapons. :D
The F15 is still a good plane, now that it has a stealthy version, the F15SA it will still be one of the greatest planes, unfortunately the stealth isn't the best.
@TheDuvalMillitia well red flag is purpose built to simulate real combat in almost every way. Also the f-22 is one of if not the cheapest aircraft to maintain and has a higher readiness percentage than any of our aircraft.
Looks good but don't forget that Israelis lost 180 American made airplanes in 1973 war (american estimates) and the count could go much higher. Most were lost to Ground to Air missiles and various RUSSIAN made anti aircraft systems like ZSU-23 and MIGs
Fighter jets is gay. They are insanely expensive, require tons of upkeep, and can easily be dispatched with SAMs. Oh and jet engine noise hurts my ears. Good day.
The Americans are afraid of Russia with good reason. Currently the usaf do not have any jet superior to the Sukhoi PAK FA T-50. Their only good jet is the F-15. The F-22 is deficient in almost all aspects unable to participate in real combat. The F-35 is totally inferior, the aerial turtle of Lockheed, fact the old F-14 Tomcat have better movements and combat capability than the F-35. The purpose of the F-22 and F-35 is to steal money of U.S. taxpayer and U.S allies.
@390bullitt1968 "Currently the usaf do not have any jet superior to the Sukhoi PAK FA T-50"
Russia does not "have" the PAK FA .... it is merely a prototype, not even fitted with radar. In any event, the PAK FA is inferior anyway. Stealth is life, and just the IRST ball on the PAK FA has an RCS larger than the entire F-22.
@FXWorldBeater These kids still going on about the PAK-FA?
I respect Russian military and especially aviation, so I'm not being at all biased when I say the PAK-FA is not very impressive. Perhaps because it's not even close to being finished, but in it's current configuration it just doesn't live up to the great expectations everyone has for it.
No question the F-22 is a seriously dominant aircraft. It requires way too much maintenance as it is right now. There should be a stealth version and a non stealth version. Supercruise is the most advantageous aspect after the stealth. Due to the maneuverability even a non stealth F-22 would be a dominant aircraft.
The end of production of the F22 marked the end of US power... Regrettable... Americans are not saints, but Russians, Indians and Chinese are not better...
RAF Eurofighter and USAF F-22 together makes the best fighters in the world. fuck the PAK FA only 3 have ever been built while nearly 200 F-22 have been build. besides US?UK has always been at least 20 years technologically avdvanced than russia and guess what thats not gonna change. US/UK will always dominate those commie bastards (China/Russia)
one of PAK FAs engines blew up in front of the world at MAKS It was Russias biggest public embarassment in decades Great aircraft only has 100hrs in the air and is already blowingup Mig29 F16s have been destroying those for year and of course no Russianjet has ever crashed The flanker has killed 100times more people at airshows than it has in combat true statistic The Mig29 has yet to shoot down an americanfighter but has been shot down about10times by USjets russia builds the worst junkby far
@skateboy159 lol dang thats funny---the air show thing. and everybody says the su27 is better than the f15...but i dont see the flanker with a 105-0 record:)
All planes are better at some things for example : f22 has better avionics and stealth capabilities .
While the Sukhoi family of planes are slightly more maneuverable and at their hayday they were ahead of their time.In a couple of years thought the f-22 will get the best avionics in the world from the f-35. But then and only then will it be a totally unfair fight but that is still to come. Lastly f-35 has best avionics but loses out in all most every way. Mike E.
Amusing, the know-nothings here who think Russian junk (Mig29, SU27, SU35, PAK-FA) can compete with F-22. Any of these turkeys would be raped by the Raptor, 5 or 6 at a time
@mechriswalker "this aircraft costs $18,000 an hour to operate" wow, that's pretty cheap as far as aircraft go... the F-15C costs $32,000 per hour ... the Mig-29's in Russia cost $160,000 per flight hour to operate.
Stop with the lies. It acutually costs $44,000 per flight hour for the F-22 while the MiG-29 costs ~$5500 per hour. The F-22 also has a critical fault every 1.75 hours, suffocates pilots, little air-to-ground ability, gets damaged in rain, needs 30 hours of mantainence for every flight hour and a month long maintainence after every 300 flight hours.
It's the aircraft world's equilavent of a Tiger tank. Amazing in theory but not so much in reality since it's so unrealiable.
All those years pledging allegiance to a flag have taken its toll on your rationality. You're a stereotypical american. 205 sorties in 3 days by an A-10 squadron is more impressive than 30 sorties by the F-222 squadron.
You've been watching too many Michael Bay movies, this isnt Hollywood.
@Pugzilla69 umm did you have trouble reading the article? It did say it was a fighter squadron record .... you do know the A-10 is not a fighter right and isn't in the same class as far as performance and stresses put on the airframe and engines?
Despite all criticism, the F-22 remains the best fighter ever built and as part of an air defence/attack system is capable of defeating anything in the world today with greater than a 15:1 exchange ratio.
A-10s are arranged in fighter squadrons so saying the F-22 set a new record is BS.
It's only the best at BVR combat, something which isn't nearly as useful in the real world because the targets must be ID'ed. Those kill ratios were achieved because the F-22 pilots could fire at will without worrying about killing friendlies since it was an exercise. In a dogfight the Eurofighter or PAK FA has the edge so no, it's not the greatest fighter ever built if it has that disadvantage
Not according to the F-16 pilots I've spoken to. They said Red Flag vs F-22's is boring as shit when they are at BVR because you don't see anything, you just get the radio calls saying your dead.
But they said when the F-22's run out of missiles and are told to engage WVR, it makes you cry to see how fast they turn and how well they retain energy compared to anything they've seen.
@Pugzilla69 "something which isn't nearly as useful in the real world because the targets must be ID'ed."
Lol, believed every word of Pierre Sprey's "need to be in visual range to engage" video did you... LOL.
Its total trash and every fighter pilot I've spoken to thought it was Pierre trying to joke. The main feature that categorizes a jet as 4th generation is BVR ability. Most enemy jets can be identified merely by their radar and radio signatures .. your quote is plain wrong
@Pugzilla69 "Those kill ratios were achieved because the F-22 pilots could fire at will without worrying about killing friendlies since it was an exercise"
No they were acheived because the thing can't be seen at any useful range and can get itself into the perfect firing position. A pilot I spoke to was embarrassed because he allowed an F-22 to get behind him and "write his name on the back of the f-16 with his guns" without even knowing he was there.
@Pugzilla69 "without worrying about killing friendlies since it was an exercise"
Red Flag is the most detailed and comprehensive defense training environment in the world and duplicates the normal rules of engagement EXACTLY. Northern Edge uses exactly the same ROE.
"PAK FA has the edge so no" There are currently 3 PAK FA's in existence .... none of them have a radar, only 1 of them has an IRST installed and none of them are cleared for anything over 5G, so no, your statement is crap
Did you not hear of the BBC report on the China Lake Wargames where an RAF Thyphoon beat an F-22 in a dogfight? The USAF pulled out of the exercises after and they've had a media blackout on it since. How much does that say about the confidence they have in their own aircraft.
I've never seen this Sprey video you talk about. Basic US ROE has been visual ID before engaging even with AEW&C support( better detection than any 5G jet).
@Pugzilla69 "RAF Thyphoon beat an F-22 in a dogfight?"
Yes I heard the little fanboi kiddies story and like the rafale story has been proven as bullshit.
"Basic US ROE has been visual ID before engaging even with AEW&C support"
Really, better tell that to the Serbian and Iraqi mig-29's which were destroyed from 50 miles away. Dude, seriously, you don't know the subject matter...I could run rings around you all day but it would be pointless...you'd still have no clue.
@Pugzilla69 .."BBC report on the China Lake Wargames where RAF Thyphoon beat an F-22 in a dogfight" sure
Did you hear the Chinese shot down an F-22 Mr Pugzilla? Or various stories, like a rash all over the web, about how virtually everything flying can defeat the Raptor? It's all nonsense. The fact is No aircraft currently in service, or in the planning stage, has any hope of surviving an engagement with F-22. Eurofighter Typhoon is no exception
The EF is a purer dogfighter than the F-22, it was designed to be the last great true fighter. The F-22 depends on stealth and striking first, it's supposed to be an invisible missile platform. Without it's stealth, it isn't anything special and it'snt unique either considering the PAK FA is only slightly less stealthy than the F-22.
In a traditional close range dogfight between these aircraft with pilots of equal ability the EF will win more times than not.
@Pugzilla69 Is that why the EF lost 1-7 to the Rafale in UAE, while the F-22 went undefeated, and with rookie pilots? Hey, i like the EF, but you're full of shit if you think the EF is better at dogfighting. The simple fact that it carries its stores externally will increase drag & reduce manueverablity.
And sorry bud, but the PAK-FA is not that stealthy. Russian officials have even admited it.
[Craptor was cancelled because it's an overrated and unreliable turkey] The production line was cut short due to economic times and not due to its performance. Just look at the UK's purchases of the EF, and The French with their Rafale. The same cutbacks are occuring. Now go back to playing COD.
@gangster3591 "EF is a purer dogfighter than the F-22, it was designed to be the last great true fighter. F-22 depends on stealth and striking first, supposed to be an invisible missile platform. Without it's stealth, it isn't anything special and it'snt unique either considering the PAK FA is only slightly less stealthy than the F-22"
You're a dilettante Mr Pugzilla; probably with no more than a high school education. That much seems clear from your comments
@Pugzilla69 "Thypoon is mostly likely equivalent, if not better."
Fancy someone from BAE saying that their aircraft is better .... LOL. Keep digging for your stellar sources little man.
I've been given detailed accounts of how the F-22 handles in combat from 4 different pilots, I've got a fair idea of how it performs "first hand". Not from some forum posts or made up stories from a test pilot who's paid to promote his product :)
@Pugzilla69 "the cost is there to maintain stealth."
The cost ... LOL ... the typhoon is MORE expensive than the F-22 anyway .... AHAHAHAHA
tinyu rl. com/EFcostsmore
Damn, half the capability, would lose by 15-1 against the F-22 in a large scale war and MORE expensive... OUCH!!
Nothing touches the F-22, I won't get into educating you about avionics, but the F-22 can see anything else coming from 800km+. They can only spot the F-22 from 40km ... massive gap :)
@Pugzilla69 "The F-22's radar can reach about 400km but that's only on a narrow beam."
Who's talking about radar? I was talking about the alr-94 which can pick up and track the source of radar and radio emissions at more double the enemy's radar range. Unfortunately for the enemy, the F-22's IFDL voice and data transmitters are all directional.
This feature alone allowed F-15's which teamed with F-22's at Red Flag to defeat other F-15's 10 to 1.
ALR is a part of the radar system you dumb c*nt. You think any enemy aircraft will be using their own high freq radar against a stealth jet? No, they would depend on low freq ground radar.
You've become mindless after years of blindless indoctrination and brainwashing....a stereotypical american. Your time would be better spent praying to your imaginary god and pledging allegiance to a flag than posing as a pathetic 'expert' youtuber with imaginary friends.
@Pugzilla69 "ALR is a part of the radar system you dumb c*nt."
Dummy is getting upset, yet still failing. ALR-94 is not a part of the radar numbnuts, its the EW and RWR system. If you knew anything about military radar (you don't) you'd know that vhf to l-band radars are for early warning only. They are never used as acquisition or engagement radars because their tracks are so inaccurate.
Watching you attempt to talk military technology is like watching a baby trying drive a car ..so funny.
"its the EW and RWR system." Yes which is part of the overall radar suite, so you're the "numbnuts" here considering the ballcrushing I've given you so far.
"Who is there to compete with us with air power?"
Considering how maimed US air power was after the defeat to Vietnam, Russia or China would maul you and your population would sue for peace.
YOU still haven't given me your credentials and you every time I have debunked your "facts" you move onto another one.
""its the EW and RWR system." Yes which is part of the overall radar suite, so you're the "numbnuts" here considering the ballcrushing I've given you so far."
EW and RWR are NOT part of the radar. EW = electronic warfare and RWR = radar warning receiver. That's not radar. I really shouldn't need to explain that.
As for Russia and China "mauling" the US. I doubt it. With what logistics? FYI, Russian missile tech has yet to score a BVR kill, but we got plenty of kills for the US.
@Pugzilla69 "Yes which is part of the overall radar suite, so you're the "numbnuts" here considering the ballcrushing I've given you so far." Seriously little man, hush. The RWR is NOT a part of the RADAR... the radar is its own system .... each TR module receives its own signal back.... not the ALR. Seriously dude, you are way off and have no idea.
The radar however is part of the EW suite and can perform jamming based off information from the ALR.
A RAND corporation simulation predicted that even with the F-22 that the US would lose an air war against China for Taiwan. On the first day, China loses 241 aircraft on the first day while US and Taiwan lose 147, but china wins through weight of numbers in the long term.
FYI I live in a 1st world country with a higher standard of living than the US.
@Pugzilla69 I see you like to post forum trash without knowing the background to the information. The pacific sunrise exercise was a logistics exercise.... its was about sortie generation after a cruise missile attack, but you don't have the grey matter to understand the concept so no point instructing you again.
It didn't take into account two of our carriers being in that theatre either :)))
Two CBG's have more firepower than the chinese airforce :)))))
"USA has 30% more nuclear weapons" That's only with respect to deployed weapons. Depending on the study, Russia has nearly double the total amount of the US and vice versa. Doesn't matter, either way it's MAD.
Jets were supercuising back in the 50s, nothing new. The Rafale &Typhoon can supercruise with a full weapon load.
F-22 = Critical error every 1.75 hours, 30 hours of maintainance/fly hour and poisoning pilots with oil fumes.
@Pugzilla69 "The onus is on you to prove, not me."
Not for me to prove bud, I couldn't give a fuck what some third world, school dropout playing computer games in his mommy's basement thinks about it :)))
Nope Russia has 30% less. The count done this year said TOTAL weapons, not DEPLOYED. Neither Russia nor China (nor the 2 combined) have anywhere near our firepower, conventional or nuclear.
Neither the Rafale nor the EF can supercruise with weapons loaded....only clean. Catch up Forest.
The Rafale can supercruise at mach 1.4 with 6 air to air missiles. It can also supercruise with 4 missiles and a belly drop tank.
Typhoon can reach a supercruise of mach 1.3 with a weapon load.
The number of nuclear weapons each country has differs in studies. Federation of American Scientists says Russia has a total of 11,000 vs 8,500 of US.
"Though current Rafale variants are claimed to be capable of supercruise, the aircraft was unable to demonstrate this during the Singapore evaluation"
The proposed engines for the Rafael that could make supercruise possible aren't even in production so it's a "maybe future ability". For the Rafael and the Typhoon to reach supercruise they have to use afterburners, which isn't supercruise, just a marketing ploy.
"Jets were supercuising back in the 50s, nothing new. The Rafale &Typhoon can supercruise with a full weapon load."
For a "top medical student" you are kind of dumb. I'm going to give you a quick physics lessons. If those planes are carrying a full com bat load externally, then it increases their drag profile. That means they are not going to supercruise.
And the maint time is misleading. That's over the entire lifetime of the plane including phasing, but you wouldn't understand
@Pugzilla69 High ranking Russian commanders recently advised that NATO has enough cruise missiles to easily perform a decapitation strike on ANY country in the world including Russia and China. With 80,000 cruise missiles in its armory, NATO can completely destroy all command infrastructure without even putting its aircraft in harm's way :))))))))))
@Pugzilla69 As part of the disclosure rules of the new START treaty, it was discovered that USA has 30% more nuclear weapons than russia and a far greater ability to deploy them. USA also has a missile shield and systems that can actually stop a nuclear missiles (even before they leave Europe) while Russia has neither :)))))))))))))))))))))
@Pugzilla69 USA accounts for 90% of all military satellites in orbit. We are the only country employing multispectral spy satellites which detect IR emissions and also include ground penetrating radar.
We are the only nation in the worldwith a Prompt Global Strike system. We are able to hit any static target in the world within half an hour :)))))))
@Pugzilla69 USA is the only country in the word with stealth aircraft, the only country in the world operating stealth drones and the only country that builds attack drones, including the brand new firescouts with will now carry antitank and anti rmour weapons.
The F-22 is the best fighter that was ever built and the best fighter in existence. It can super cruise at m1.8 with a full weapons load while no other armed fighter can even break the sound barrier without using fuel sucking afterburners.
The F-22 has an almost perfectly designed airframe for thrust vectoring with it centralised CL and CG. Features of the the F-35's aerodynamic design are more advanced and will be incorporated into the new FX.
Simply put, the F-22 has absolutely no equal, not even the new Russian PAK FA or the Chinese J-20.
It is by far the fastest cruiser, by far the best dogfighter, the most stealthy, with by far the best air to air sensors of any fighter in history and in the medium term future.
In the most accurate exercises know to man, it has decimated the F-15, the aircraft which holds the title of the most successful fighter in the world which has a record 105 kills, 0 losses in real air wars.
@FXWorldBeater ok now, if u think f-22/f-35 is all american, consider these facts:
1. stealth. Stealth was the idea of the German Horton brothers and their Horton H-229 fighter, which WAS proven stealthy
2. thrust vectoring. Thrust vectoring. Thrust vectoring was the idea of Russia's pilot Pugachev and the MiG-29, and THE WHOLE REASON why the f-15 was built was because of the MiG-29.
3. VTOL. VTOL was the idea of Britain's Harrier jumpjet.
@tht1drnkrussian 1. Stealth .... was first perfected by the USAF.
2. TVC was tested on the F-16 Vista, F-18 Harv, X-31...etc years before the Mig-29 OVT or any other russian jet for that matter. The F-15 was built as a counter to the Mig-25 .... until a russian pilot defected to japan with one and we found out the aircraft was rather 'primitive' in comparison to US jets.
3. who cares.... vtol actually originated with helicopters... scrub.
@FXWorldBeater Yes! The Russian's always talk up their jets and say they are so much better than US craft.. but when it comes down to it we always find out they are hyped and not nearly as good as said... Like when the Mig-25 defected to Japan. We found out it was not nearly as good as once imagined!
F-22 also requires much more maintenance, much more money, and has never been in combat. quit fucking calling it the best till it sees REAL not red flag etc, REAL combat... Then i will call it the best. the F-15 had to prove itself, this 144million dollar POS hasnt yet. thats why i dont call the F-35, pak fa or J-20 the best either....
@FXWorldBeater watch?v=Y7i_TGya0kI check this video... SU-37 i DONT BELIEVE that this plane can beat a F-22, because dog-fights are not important now... since the philosophy is First to see, first to shot first to kill... but still the SU-37 is the BEST IN DOGFIGHTS BY FAAAAAR it has the best Supermanouverability in the world
@FXWorldBeater modern war is not the contest between weapons only. Systematic contest is the key to winning. F22 serves its own purpose well, as such standards were raised 25 years ago. Comparatively, J20 and PAK FA are designed recently. Thus they might have different standards compared with F22. Thus, it's not sufficient to simply compare F22 to PAK or J20 statistically, but systematically. From this stand point, F22 might not have overwhelming advantage in systematic contest.
@utubegavemeusername Given that the F-22 is part of the USAF's battle "system" it has that advantage by default.
No other airforce has the level of networking that we do. Russian aircraft are in fact incapable of sharing data at the same rates due to TKS-2 (russian datalinks) being more than 50 times slower than link-16, ifdl, madl....etc.
The F-22 clearly has better all aspect stealth than the PAK FA and J-20 which allows it to more effectively act as an ELINT asset than the other 2.
@FXWorldBeater that i agree. but do remember F22's mission is striking enemy on every corner of this planet. Thus, F22 requires all-direction stealth, supersonic cruise to achieve that. However, at least IMO, PAK and J20 are not designed to defeat enemies thousands of miles away from their own base. Thus, they only requires front stealth as primary mission is intercepting enemy aircrafts (maybe F22 lol). Therefore, from that stand points, they are qualified fighters in their own system.
@utubegavemeusername "but do remember F22's mission is striking enemy on every corner of this planet"
Not really, its primary role is air superiority, interception and strike package escort. Its not designed for long range and global strikes like the B-2 (soon to be replaced by the NGB in development).
PAK FA also has a major issue with its frontal VLO as well due to their inability to design a VLO IRST.
@FXWorldBeater lol i dont know why we are arguing this...but really, no fighter beats F22 1vs1. And F22's real advantage is its supersonic cruise capability...or F119 lol, they are the beast
@Pugzilla69 lol what country has a higher standard of living than the US? i mean, lets face it. everybody immigrates to america, yet nobody wants to immigrate to finland or whatever the hell youre from. and 1st world country isnt even a real term, dumbass. there are 68 cars for every 100 ppl in america. and were talkin SUVs. closest competitor? UK, with 36. there r more flatscreens in america than ppl to watch them. and ive never seen beggars here, unlike poor-ass europe.
@Pugzilla69 the percentage of people with luxuries like microwaves,PCs,dishwashers, and clothes dryers is crazily higher in the US than in europe.the middle class family here has a 3500 sq ft house,3 NICE cars(we can actually afford to use gas here), a swimming pool in the backyard(next to the fire pit and the lawn),and some even have a boat that they keep in their garage.ive been to europe 4 times, and i cant believe how poor you guys are. even the middle class live in apartments. sad
@Pugzilla69 "every time I have debunked your "facts" you move onto another one"
Lol, "debunked". You've merely made a whole bunch or personal assumptions without any fact to back it up then presented it like a simpleton with no insight watsoever. Then you've embarassed yourself by being completely incorrect in pretty much all aspects of all your statements. Funny watching you trying to pat yourself on the back afterwards tho .... you entertain me, oaf. Good work Forest!
@Pugzilla69 "The F-35 has more advanced avionics if you want to get technical"
In some ways, but the F-22's ALR is far better (30 as opposed to 10 receivers, better frequency hopping agility) than the F-35's and the F-22's APG-77 has a higher TR count which means higher PPO and APO.
The F-35's EODAS and EOTS, HMD II are something the F-22 doesn't have yet, but we'll see those on the FX and ADF.
Trust me, if I wanted to get technical, you wouldn't understand a word I was saying.
I've tried to reason with you but you have ignored every valid point I have made. The Craptor was cancelled because it's an overrated and unreliable turkey. Fanboys like you ,who have nothing else in life, can't admit it. It's pathetic and you can't troll for sh*t.
@Pugzilla69 "The Craptor was cancelled because it's an overrated and unreliable turkey"
The raptor was cut short because who is there to compete with us with air power? Russia, with the second largest airforce only has 700 4th gen + aircraft to our 3500. Why do we need a silver bullet air dominance fighter when our mainstream fighters can beat anyone else 5 times over.
BTW you aint that intelligent dummy..... you'd be flat out cracking 90iq.
@Pugzilla69 "The F-22 costs 3 times more than EF and it will increase as production lines begin to close down. Good luck maintaining a fleet of them"
Not according to the article.... EF cost $30million more per aircraft ($350m for the typhoon, $320 for the raptor) for the UK due to their procurement screwups
tinyu rl. com/EFcostsmore
As far as maintenance, I don't see us tearing apart working F-22's to do repairs on the active fleet like we saw with the typhoon in the libyan operation
"more recently, there have been repeated reports that two RAF Typhoons deployed to the USA fir OEU trails work have been flying agaisnt the F-22 at NAS China Lake, and have performed better than was expected. There was little surprise that Typhoon, with its world-class agility and high off-boresight missile capability was able to dominate "Within Visual Range" flight, but the aircraft did cause a surprise by getting a radar lock on the f-22.
....at a surprisingly long range. The F-22 cried off, claiming they were "unstealthed" anway, although the next day's scheduled two vs two BWR engagement was cancelled, and the USAF decided they didn't want to play anymore."
"When this incidednt was reported on a website frequented by front-line RAF aircrew, a senior RAF officer urged an end to the converation on security grounds."
@Pugzilla69 "The F-22 cried off, claiming they were "unstealthed" anway"
F-22's always wear their luneburg lense device when in exercises with foreign aircraft and when not in war. Its the little probe device you can see hanging off the bottom of the aircraft in most photo's.
Its an RCS enhancer used for safety and stops other aircraft from running into it when they can't see it.
i52.tinypic. com/11lrjtl. jpg
But of course you didn't know that...come back when you know the subject
All fifth-generation fighter F-22 Raptors from the 1st Fighter Wing, Langley Air Force Base, Va., are back with the flight operations suspended a pilot after going through loss of oxygen during the flight.
Air Force Base Elmendorf-Richardson also suspended flights of its F-22 Raptors
Over 20 years of design and how can it still stopping
there's a little confusion i see. the f 22 project not only has been already cancelled but the plane himself will soon become outdated. why? because in the case of pak fa wich hadn't even hit the production lines(i'm refering to the real ones) we even don't know as much we pretend we do, and the eurofighter is the most adaptable jet in the world, beeing constantly updated(mostly like a pc game :d) in tranches divided in blocks. in 2000 was released the first tranche now will be released the 3'rd

a) it costs $350 million per plane

d) rain can damage it's high tech stealthy skin

The Americans are afraid of Russia with good reason. Currently the usaf do not have any jet superior to the Sukhoi PAK FA T-50. Their only good jet is the F-15. The F-22 is deficient in almost all aspects unable to participate in real combat. The F-35 is totally inferior, the aerial turtle of Lockheed, fact the old F-14 Tomcat have better movements and combat capability than the F-35. The purpose of the F-22 and F-35 is to steal money of U.S. taxpayer and U.S allies.
390bullitt1968 2 months ago
@390bullitt1968 "Currently the usaf do not have any jet superior to the Sukhoi PAK FA T-50"
Russia does not "have" the PAK FA .... it is merely a prototype, not even fitted with radar. In any event, the PAK FA is inferior anyway. Stealth is life, and just the IRST ball on the PAK FA has an RCS larger than the entire F-22.
FXWorldBeater 1 month ago 2

Mike E.

Pugzilla69 3 months ago
@Pugzilla69 umm did you have trouble reading the article? It did say it was a fighter squadron record .... you do know the A-10 is not a fighter right and isn't in the same class as far as performance and stresses put on the airframe and engines?
Despite all criticism, the F-22 remains the best fighter ever built and as part of an air defence/attack system is capable of defeating anything in the world today with greater than a 15:1 exchange ratio.
FXWorldBeater 3 months ago

@FXWorldBeater
Pugzilla69 3 months ago
@Pugzilla69 "It's only the best at BVR combat"
Not according to the F-16 pilots I've spoken to. They said Red Flag vs F-22's is boring as shit when they are at BVR because you don't see anything, you just get the radio calls saying your dead.
But they said when the F-22's run out of missiles and are told to engage WVR, it makes you cry to see how fast they turn and how well they retain energy compared to anything they've seen.
FXWorldBeater 3 months ago
@Pugzilla69 "something which isn't nearly as useful in the real world because the targets must be ID'ed."
Lol, believed every word of Pierre Sprey's "need to be in visual range to engage" video did you... LOL.
Its total trash and every fighter pilot I've spoken to thought it was Pierre trying to joke. The main feature that categorizes a jet as 4th generation is BVR ability. Most enemy jets can be identified merely by their radar and radio signatures .. your quote is plain wrong
FXWorldBeater 3 months ago
@Pugzilla69 "Those kill ratios were achieved because the F-22 pilots could fire at will without worrying about killing friendlies since it was an exercise"
No they were acheived because the thing can't be seen at any useful range and can get itself into the perfect firing position. A pilot I spoke to was embarrassed because he allowed an F-22 to get behind him and "write his name on the back of the f-16 with his guns" without even knowing he was there.
FXWorldBeater 3 months ago
@Pugzilla69 "without worrying about killing friendlies since it was an exercise"
Red Flag is the most detailed and comprehensive defense training environment in the world and duplicates the normal rules of engagement EXACTLY. Northern Edge uses exactly the same ROE.

The F-22's radar can reach about 400km but that's only on a narrow beam. It usually has a range of 200 km.
A E-3 sentry has a max range of 650km to put that in perspective. Where did 800km come from?
The F-35 has more advanced avionics if you want to get technical.

Dummy is getting upset, yet still failing. ALR-94 is not a part of the radar numbnuts, its the EW and RWR system. If you knew anything about military radar (you don't) you'd know that vhf to l-band radars are for early warning only.

The proposed engines for the Rafael that could make supercruise possible aren't even in production so it's a "maybe future ability". For the Rafael and the Typhoon to reach supercruise they have to use afterburners, which isn't supercruise, just a marketing ploy.

For a "top medical student" you are kind of dumb. I'm going to give you a quick physics lessons. If those planes are carrying a full com bat load externally, then it increases their drag profile. That means they are not going to supercruise.

The F-22 has an almost perfectly designed airframe for thrust vectoring with it centralised CL and CG. Features of the the F-35's aerodynamic design are more advanced and will be incorporated into the new FX.

3. VTOL. VTOL was the idea of Britain's Harrier jumpjet.
learn all of the facts that made the f-22 u scrub
tht1drnkrussian 2 months ago
@tht1drnkrussian 1. Stealth .... was first perfected by the USAF.
2. TVC was tested on the F-16 Vista, F-18 Harv, X-31...etc years before the Mig-29 OVT or any other russian jet for that matter. The F-15 was built as a counter to the Mig-25 .... until a russian pilot defected to japan with one and we found out the aircraft was rather 'primitive' in comparison to US jets.
3. who cares.... vtol actually originated with helicopters... scrub.
Learn basic aviation history.

From this stand point, F22 might not have overwhelming advantage in systematic contest.
utubegavemeusername 1 month ago
@utubegavemeusername Given that the F-22 is part of the USAF's battle "system" it has that advantage by default.
No other airforce has the level of networking that we do. Russian aircraft are in fact incapable of sharing data at the same rates due to TKS-2 (russian datalinks) being more than 50 times slower than link-16, ifdl, madl....etc.
The F-22 clearly has better all aspect stealth than the PAK FA and J-20 which allows it to more effectively act as an ELINT asset than the other 2.
FXWorldBeater 1 month ago
@FXWorldBeater that i agree. but do remember F22's mission is striking enemy on every corner of this planet. Thus, F22 requires all-direction stealth, supersonic cruise to achieve that. However, at least IMO, PAK and J20 are not designed to defeat enemies thousands of miles away from their own base. Thus, they only requires front stealth as primary mission is intercepting enemy aircrafts (maybe F22 lol). Therefore, from that stand points, they are qualified fighters in their own system.
utubegavemeusername 1 month ago
@utubegavemeusername "but do remember F22's mission is striking enemy on every corner of this planet"
Not really, its primary role is air superiority, interception and strike package escort. Its not designed for long range and global strikes like the B-2 (soon to be replaced by the NGB in development).
PAK FA also has a major issue with its frontal VLO as well due to their inability to design a VLO IRST.
FXWorldBeater 1 month ago

@Pugzilla69 the percentage of people with luxuries like microwaves,PCs,dishwashers, and clothes dryers is crazily higher in the US than in europe.the middle class family here has a 3500 sq ft house,3 NICE cars(we can actually afford to use gas here), a swimming pool in the backyard(next to the fire pit and the lawn),and some even have a boat that they keep in their garage.ive been to europe 4 times, and i cant believe how poor you guys are. even the middle class live in apartments. sad

@Pugzilla69 "The F-22 cried off, claiming they were "unstealthed" anway"
F-22's always wear their luneburg lense device when in exercises with foreign aircraft and when not in war. Its the little probe device you can see hanging off the bottom of the aircraft in most photo's.
Its an RCS enhancer used for safety and stops other aircraft from running into it when they can't see it.

there's a little confusion i see. the f 22 project not only has been already cancelled but the plane himself will soon become outdated. why? because in the case of pak fa wich hadn't even hit the production lines(i'm refering to the real ones) we even don't know as much we pretend we do, and the eurofighter is the most adaptable jet in the world, beeing constantly updated(mostly like a pc game :d) in tranches divided in blocks. in 2000 was released the first tranche now will be released the 3'rd
