It had the best system of any jprg to date imo, materia fucking rocks.. you can switch materia out and give them to other characters if you want.. you aren't stuck with a spell you don't like, limmits are awesome, the free roam style in the open world was fucking awesome.. why the hell are they not sticking to a formula that works.. REMAKE THIS GAME FFS !!

Who would've thought, that almost 15 years later, people are still talking about/buying/playing this game. What surprises me though, as someone who's owned several different copies, beaten countless times and basically slaved over for years, I am still finding nuances in the game. For instance: Imagine you've spent years perfecting your FF7 game, played through countless times and finally realizing that Sephiroth was never the real enemy--Jenova was. Goosebumps man. @9HereticPrincess9 FF13 is a pretty good game. People just hate it because it's soo different from the previous ones. In my opinion it had alot of playability but the only downside is that that playability dosent come until the last few portions of the game where you have freedom to roam around. =o Also a fairly good leveling up system.

Although I'd pick FF7 over FF13 anyday. If you're going to play a Final Fantasy game, it's gotta be 7! :P

Seriously, it was a good game and all, but don't make the mistake of thinking it's the best game in the world. Or the best RPG. Or even the best FF. There are better contenders out there. The only new thing that FF7 brought to the table was 3D graphics and a slightly futuristic theme.

The game was rushed for production, so maybe if they'd taken the extra time to fill in the plot holes and expand on the story, it could be considered for "Best RPG."

XIII may have been extremely linear, but it had a damn good story. FFX-2... Now that was shit. And just to let you know, if it wasn't for FF1-6, we wouldn't even know who Squaresoft was. FF1 saved them, and spawned one of the best game series to date.

A lot of people thought so back then and reassurance should not be necessary. Look at what they did to Cloud's look, expression and personality in Advent Children. be sure that any remake will not live up to the original, will not accurately reflect it, and will almost certainly twist it and be a catastrophe, and people will see it and say "oh, so that's how it was..." like they think that the new crisis core etc. has any relation to the original which it does not, because you can completely change things, like bring someone back to life, or say they never died when they clearly did

Originally, only Cloud, Barrett and Aerith were planned as FF7 Characters. So that's why we can see them in this Beta. Other Chars like Nanaki were supposed to be NPCs I think

But I've read an article about the very early FF VII. It said, that either Cloud, Barrett or Aerith should die (one of them). Cloud was too important to die, so it was between Barrett and Aerith. Because of Barrett's character, it would've been obvious that he will die. So they decided, that Aerith should die.

Those 3 Characters were really the main characters. Personally I wouldn't understand, why there should be only 3 Playable Chars

This is what Nomura said a few years ago: Originally, the only girl in the story was Aerith. Later, they added Tifa. And at some point down the road, they started having trouble fitting both of them into the storyline. As a joke, Nomura said "Let's just kill off Aeris!" And eventually they decided it was actually a good idea.

Hironobu Sakaguchi lost a close relative( i think it was his mother) in the beginning production stages of FFVII and he really wanted to include a theme of losing a loved one in the game. Sakaguchi explains that the death of his mother during the making of FFIII was what caused him to later make a game around the theme of "Life". He had nothing to do with Aerith's death specifically.
