Im debating wether to get the HDMI adapter for my ipad2 to play on the HDTV at my house....but i feel like i would use the AV composite cable more because i can use it on the two other tvs in my house and when i go out of town i wouldnt have to worry if the Tv where we are staying would have an HDMI input....Does the AV composite look like crap when u play it or is it really worth sacrificing some extra $ and limited use for better graphics?
I got a brand new black Ipad 2 32 GB with Wi-Fi and 3G. It is unlocked and comes with a one year Applecare warranty. I won this Ipad at a company banquet and don't need it cause i already have one. PayPal only, 350.00 OBO. If you are interested please email LNovack52 @ Yahoo.com
@tnj7667 The new Ipad 2, for HDMI you can simply get an adapter that will do this, so I would suggest getting one of those because this kind of connection you can only see videos on the screen, not applications.
@Maxi86SZ That could very well work but, since it isn't an Apple sanctioned fix it isn't one we've tested extensively. I can't think of any reason that wouldn't work just fine and if it doesn't you're covered under our full 30 day return policy.
@kevin5758 We have not yet tested it with the VLC player, but it doesn't look like VLC supports TV out, so I don't think it will be compatible. If VLC adds TV out support in the future, there shouldn't be any issues.
There is a way around all of this...you can now get CineXplayer and get torrent movies right off the net...put them right on to your ipad or iphone straight through itunes into this app on your device...then you can play any movie you want...you don't have to worry about DRM because you're not getting the movie from itunes directly...so it will not be blocked.
@Loud0glbc It's called DRM - Fox doesn't want people playing their videos from the device to a television so they work with Apple to make it not work when you're trying to do that. Note that if you were just using the Apple iPad to VGA converter it also wouldn't work with any Simpson's episodes bought through itunes.
My god man, old school approach. You need the AirPlayer (DLNA server) application for iPad and then stream direct. Your Samsung has DLNA support built in and you'll get full resolution dependent upon the media on your iPad.
sorry I hit send by accident....I meant, have u tried to jailbreak ur device and used the cydia app called DisplayOut to mirror the exact image on the external monitor? When I try to play videos using the ipad dock connector, it lags horribly
@5botball The iPad outputs video through the VGA connection at 1024 x 768. The SW-9393 (VGA to HDMI converter) upscales that resolution to 720p (1280 x 720) we also have the SW-29073 which also does VGA to HDMI but upscales the image to 1080p (1920 x 1080). So with either of those VGA to HDMI converters you will get a better picture than just straight VGA and will make it so that the picture fills the full screen of the TV without stretching it funny.
I have a 70 inch samsung tv. It has all connections. VGA, hdmi, composite, component. Which one should I get fornmaximum quality and maximum screen coverage. Thanks
my laptop is connected to my 1080p 32" TV using just VGA...and it looks perfect at full 1080p.....is there some advantage to this convoluted system rather than just going straight to the VGA on the back of the TV ?
@BILLYBOBMANTARAY Yes but its dependent on what you are doing as to if it will make a big difference, for example my desktop is hooked into my 42inch 1080p because of the size the small artifacts from the vga cable are noticable, on a 32 inch you likely wont notice any difference. Also if I do a duel monitor setup one hdmi one vga the vga actually lags behind the hdmi. Colors seem more crisp on hdmi as well but there again it depends on what you are doing
@v6greenfbird95 thanx for the info...ya I'm just using it as a HTPC so I'm never really that close to the screen as you are using it as your monitor...good to know
@BILLYBOBMANTARAY If you can go direct (VGA to VGA in your case), then that will give you the best picture. This converter is for when VGA isn't an option (many TVs now no longer have VGA inputs).
Theres a way easier way for that

Is there any reason you can't just go directly from the iPad to HDMI, without going to VGA first?
ronknights 7 months ago
@ronknights Not really, as long as you have an iPad to HDMI converter cable. That wasn't on the market at the time this video was produced.

Well, Chinese people are always good at copying these gadgets, they are available on some sites at a affordable price.
Check this one : slickgate com
$39.99 + free shipping, I just placed the order and would let you know when it arrived.

did you not see the VGA port on the back of the TV itself...? the converter is an unnecessary junction that can potentially degrade image quailty.

what if you jailbreak your iPad and download Display Out from the Cydia Store?
would you then be able to play everything?
