Philosophy of Physics / My opinion / After reading some scientific ideas: The more I study the more I know The more I know the more ideas I have The more ideas I have the more they abstract The more they abstract the less I know the truth And therefore conclusion from some article: One of the best kept secrets of science is that physicists have lost their grip on reality Israel Sadovnik. I'm for the education system as it is in america. Why? Because I am a rational student in high school. I know more about it than the "stupid" parents that believe schools are teaching their kids useless things, or are not being taught enough. The kids are getting bad grades because they don't try to learn. Schooling is not about learning these useless ideas, it's about learning to accept new ideas. In other words, being less ignorant. Which it seems you didn't learn when they taught you.
I agree with you but more than 90% of students can't afford laptops or computers. I'm 17 y/o student from Serbia, and my parents bought me computer that they'll be paying for 3 years more. And that's the BIG problem. In my school 3 classrooms have 15-17 computers (Pentium II, 256mb RAM, about 800 MHz), 50% of other classrooms have one computer and other 50% doesnt even have a computer. But this is also consequence of serbian education system, not only lack of money.
I teach teachers too. It is scary, very scary. I wouldn't send my kids to public school. Actually I would homeschool them. Nothing like one on one education.
Well, homeschool is good. But, one thing people tend to neglect about school is.. They thought that school just for teaching the knowledge. That is a BIG wrong. In school, kids tend to mix with others. Learning to social with other. That is part of life too. While homeschool can provide knowledge, but it actually killing our kids to interact with other.
As a child I chose homeschooling. By the time I was 15 I was an entrepreneur with over 50 employees (not an "entrepreneur" in the ACORN sense, it was all legit). I was also involved in charity, I had lots of friends.
Its said that if I know your friends I know you. Our association helps to define who we are. Unlike other kids who only hang around other drug using, promiscuous, immature, 15 year olds, my friends were of all ages and backgrounds. They were really positive influences on my life.
I disagree. In school, kids are told "don't touch your neighbor." Sit down and be quiet. Don't visit. Even lunch time is restricted. I was a T.A. so I was part of it. I also home schooled. My son spent time at daycare, with his grandparents and I took him to SCA. He could run, push, play, fall down, laugh out loud and talk with people of all ages. He's in high school now and hates the cliques! and says he can't do anything and real friends are hard to find.
Do schools kill creativity? If creativity was a person schools would be it's concentration camp! I think that young people are going through a creativity holocaust perpetrated by teachers especially ones who hate their jobs. Everyone who agrees this is a disgusting inconvenient truth give me a thumbs up. BTW I'm only twenty years old and I understand this.
I personally want to see math get replaced with a technology class. Building or learing how to fix computers, something along the lines. In todays world I just dont see a place for math unless it is mandatory for a certain major or minor.
You don't see maths around you? Imagine when u get hungry, u went out.. Board the bus.. Which cost u 5 dollar.. U pay the 5 dollar.. Then, u went in market, u saw the bread cost u another 2 dollar.. So, how much u spent? Dont tell me this is not maths..
Hello Ronn, i'd love to know about your technology mentor lessons. Any chance you can tell me more? my email is mbarros3@une.edu.au
