To be honest, I've never seen Cactus Flower, but Goldie is a class-act. However, this was a tough year as Catherine Burns was brutally visceral in her portrayal of a lonely, naive and eventually contaminated young woman in "Last Summer."

My favorite portrayal here, though, is Dyan Cannon. Her character of Alice (Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice) seemed to be the most conflicted/natural with the representation of contrasting viewpoints of the conservative housewife, to a swinging 1960s sexual mores.

It seems like back then, a lot of nominated actors or actresses never showed up for the Oscar ceremonies. They'd either be on some film location or doing a play. Today, unless someone is sick, near death or dead, anyone and everyone shows up, like the "Slumdog Millionaire" kids. Also, if you look at some of the other clips you'd see empty seats in the audience, as if people won their awards and went home.
