he was a good actor he's lucky , he almost lost his head for what he did with Marlyn monroe, he couldn't leave the house for 6 months out of fear from what I hear

This is one of my all time favorite movies, and my all time favorite Robert Mitchum movie. He and Deborah Kerr were great lifetime friends. I can't think of a better movie than this!

Robert Mitchum should have won the Academy Award for this movie. He had an innocence with a tough guy personna. What actor today could pull that off today?

One of my childhood favorites. And Robert Mitchum reminded/s me of my late father, though he was a veteran of the ETO. "Don't sit under the apple tree with anyone else but me...".

Agreed. It seems like Mitchum was always voted "most likely to succeed," but he never seemed to be "at the head of the class."

look at 0:48 robert was completely underrated....ignored & almost forgotten....but that clip alone tells alot....he was such a pro....totally at ease in front of the camera...seriously

Paired with Deborah Kerr, it was impossible for this not to be a fine if not a great movie.
