A video guide on how to cross the Haunted Wasteland w/o LoT

I'm trying this (going in the other direction, from west to east) in the 3DS version of the game and I can't seem to get the sand pit part to work after several dozen attempts. Link seems to slow down massively the instant he hits the slope and sink very quickly. Does anyone know whether a) this crossing method works better going from east to west or b) it works better in the N64 version, perhaps because the sand physics or the backwards walking physics have been changed for the remake?

The whole desert has just one way to go, but Its just a big, wide, clear area, only thing is that you can't see, but theres nothing that stops you from running throught it? That stupid ghost just makes fun of you making you run in circles...

I meant that you're not supposed to access Gerudo valley as a child because the gate is up and if you get caught you're stuck in their dungeon (tried that too). Although you need to beat spirit as child and adult Link, you'll ultimately learn the reqium of spirit which will, as Sheik says "lead a child back to the desert". Meaning teleporting without crossing but you can save the carpenters as a child Link and it'll still count for adult Link too! Try it it works :)

I've also discovered a neat trick: you can still save all the carpenters as young Link if you can access Gerudo valley and it'll still count when you return as adult Link! I tried it once on project 64 and gotta say it saves you time :)

Well yeah I mean after all unless you have the levitation cheat or you use a bombshu you can't access Gerudo Valley :) That's why the gate is open as Adult Link because you need to use the hover boots for the final temple, spirit. That's why because some items can only be used as adult Link :) After all you'll need the mirror shield for Twinrova :) Can't beat them without it.

Actually. you can use the cucoo jump to get into the fortress as a kid. It takes time to do, but nonetheless, it's possible.

This video is great, and you've clearly shown that your reference points work well. However, you don't need to be as precise as this video shows.

You just have to face the fence and jump left to get over the gate. You can easily backpedal across the side of the quicksand, no tedious lining up is necessary. The Haunted Wasteland requires more precision, but you don't have to go as far past the first sand valley as you did, the top of the arrow doesn't need to be flat, you only gotta go straight

Me and a buddy were on a mission to beat the game without the eye of truth. We beat the shadow temple fairly easily and made our way to the desert. This video helped me get the last few turns in that I couldn't figure out through trial and error haha. Great video, thanks.

Major props to you. Your video is by far the single best guide to crossing the wasteland without the lens that I have seen posted anywhere. Other videos have cruddy detail and you can't see the differences in elevation or sand color, so its impossible to find landmarks. What version do you have? I can see the flags clear as day on your version. In mine, I can hardly see anything at all and there are wavy streaks going across the screen. It is extremely hard to follow those damn flags.

No, none at all.

There are no Gerudos partolling outside of the fortress, so you don't have to worry about getting to the hideout. If you can successfully do the Cuccoo jump, then get INSIDE the hideout and save. This way, if you reload your file, you'll be in the hideout and not have to redo the Cuccoo jump.

yeah, if you're not familiar with the Haunted Wasteland and have never tried the Uber Challenge, then it won't make much sense. But believe me, it's almost impossible to do the Haunted Wasteland as a kid without some sort of guide.
