From a German point of view - we had the opportunity to rebuild them due the very fact our infrastructure was more effected from the last war as oppose to the British.
Also I like to point out that many of the roads were built before the invention of motor vehicles. It's not that easy to just extend a two lane street to a kind of freeway simply because the effect it will have on ancient historical buildings.
Thanks, Bryant! There's a sign showing two arrows, each facing in a different direction. The arrow going my way was large, the one going the other way was very small. Therefore I had priority of right of way. This is a nationally used sign, as shown in the Governent publication 'The Highway Code', which everyone has to study before taking their driving test.
It's videos like this is to why I subscribe to your channel. The are always so cleverly planned & executed, interesting, & you always choose the most appropriate background music!
On this particular video, I'm also so proud of you because you didn't come anywhere close to side swiping a few cars or breaking off a row of side view mirriors as it appears you do in your other videos.
Perhaps because there was only 1 parked car in this video & that was off to the far left. Hmmmm
@safari55 Thanks, Tom! Don't forget, the camera is over on the far left of my vehicle. Also, we're used to driving in close proximity to other traffic on our crowded little roads. What Americans might consider "close" would be enough space for us to drive a bus through!
why do you have to pay for crossing this bridge ?
AnyColourTheyLike 1 year ago
@AnyColourTheyLike The bridge is not publicly owned. The toll fees, at 50p per car crossing, are used to pay for maintenance. Thanks for watching!

Nice video, Dave. Loving the music and that bridge.
At the end (1:33), who has to yield/give way?

@localdriver
You're welcome, Dave. Oh, okay. I was thinking something like that in terms of that sign. Thanks.
