Book trailers also suck because they may not be worth the effort.
Are the people you want to reach going to see the video, or will it be seen by folks who would have read the book anyway? Is it the best way to reach a new reader?
A video that engages the viewer and makes a connection with the author may be most effective. II think the best approach might be to sell the author, not the book.
Which is pretty much what you've done this episode, if not in the trailer itself.
