Own the song, not over play it. You keep time good, too much cymbal work. There's parts in the song where the whole band does shots on 2 that's where your cymbals should be.
In jazz/swing/blues, dynamics, and feel is important. It's a we culture.
my honest opinion is you didnt get the flow off the song, seems like you didnt make it groove to you, think your sence of dynamics was a little off too, better cymbals and tuning would also help you, technically i think you can play drums, but just didnt seem to flow and was a little forced to me
dude. you were spectacular man! the ONLY thing i saw that was a problem, was the sudden stops the band had and your cymbals were still goin...i think it was be better if you choked the crashes or hit the hats and then lock quick when they stop
One of my kits is that exact same kit! CB heads and all. (Not the same cymbals though. I play Paiste) And that's a great idea on how to get the set up that way. Never though of using the long end of the tom mount.
Firstly, @AlBear1994, there is nothing particularly wrong with this kit, I had a very similar CB kit for quite a while. But you need to learn how to tune it and dampen it properly. Any kit can be made to sound brilliant if you put some time into it and at the moment I have to say it isn't sounding great
Secondly, I noticed that you seem to over-reach when playing your ride. You should be aiming to strike the ride on the closer side to you, just outside of the bell.
I mean for the the amount of money youve spent on your stuff at the moment you could get a much better kit and even the b8's are pretty good quality cymbals (i have some)
his kit could be worse.. if you saw mine you might cry
