El implante coclear es una herramienta maravillosa, cuando se lo coloca a muy temprana edad. Si los padres este chico y otros que estén en similar situación, leen mi comentario, les aconsejo que utilicen primordialmente la lengua de señas, por mi experiencia con mi hijo y la de otros padres de implantados tardíos.

Es normal. Los sonidos que un oyente no sabe que que existen, de repente se oyen sin una discriminación. El proceso de audición empieza en el quinto mes in útero. Cuando un bebé nace ya ha se ha familiarizado con el sonido y un sonido mucho más fuerte que éste, pues el líquido lo hace más potente. El sonido in útero también lo ha procesado. Es cuestión de paciencia como en todo aprendizaje. El idioma del mundo es complejo.

Imagine never hearing & then all of a sudden: BAM! It would be scary & confusing, especially since the child looks to be about 7 or 8 years old. I hope that he has adjusted well, especially with all of the sounds we take for granted, such as the ambient noise of a busy city or street, or even crickets & birdsong in the early morning. Modern technology is awesome, but for these kids, it is scary at first.
