This was a beautiful tribute to your father. I really loved it but I could not stop from crying. My hero ia also my father, Robert M. Sanders. He worked with your father and admired him a lot. Thank you for making this video and sharing with us.
Never forgot where you came from and always keep your father near to your heart,
@abenj2011 I use an iPad to read the sheet music. The app I like using is called ForScore. I also use the AirTurn foot pedal to turn the pages. It's super easy to use and works great!
I only found Jason and his music about a month ago when I found The Wedding Song book in a music store. Thank goodness his website was in the book. I emailed asking about this piece, I found so hauntingly beautiful and remembered from my childhood. To my surprise and delight, Jason very graciously emailed the music. I now have most of his music and practice everyday as I learn this new style. Music comes from the soul, and there is no right or wrong interpretation that brings peace or joy.
I guess everyone is entitled to create any interpretation that one wants to from the lyrics of a slave ship's captain. But, sadly, it feels awfully neutered. Where is the passion? The despair? The redemption? Alas, it comes across awfully "whited out" - numb, frozen in time and space, lacking connection to the "hero" that the composer speaks of. Then again, it might be my difference in religion that causes this "disconnect". My condolences to the writer for his loss.
@AF2NY Heh, I actually felt there was a great deal of emotion in this version, even before I read the description. It's not the big, dramatic type, no passion or despair. Instead this piece felt very bittersweet to me, like coming to peace after grief and learning to smile again. The emotions are more gentle, more wistful, but very deep all the same. It's an "I love you, I miss you, my heart aches knowing that you're gone, but I'm glad you're in a better place, and I hope you fare well."
Really nice music thanks !!

@Seger626 Can you believe Jason and co. took a baby grand piano to the mountains to do this piece? It was actually filmed on scene.

Is that a special tablet for sheetmusic, or just a regular tablet?

@AF2NY I do hope it is the difference in religions. The writer and Jason puts a lot of feeling into this piece.
