This is really simple. It's "the Employee Free Choice Act". The key word there is CHOICE. If they want a union, they CHOOSE to vote for it. They can CHOOSE how to vote on it. I'm in college right now and I work at walmart. Half the people I work with have a degree. In fact one of the guys I work with was hired to the job he got his degree for, he quit Walmart, then was called the next day and was told that he was no longer needed for that job.

There is no "Oath" that prevents you from being part of a union. Innovation is not held hostage when you seek to provide a better work environment and pay for your fellow engineer.
