  • What a great tune .The album "Time fades away " has never been re-released on any other format since it came out in the early seventies .The previous albums were big sellers but alledgly Neil Young wanted to destroy any artiste fame that came with those album sucess,s around then Good call me thinks

  • Do you actually possess the test pressing CD of this?

  • I had this on cassette in the early 80's...probably one of my favs...too bad it's gone.

  • me too man, cassette from the 80's....one of my favourite Neil albums...I wore out that cassette! @MrZee1967

  • Danny Whitten didn't commit suicide:he died [after a show]along w. Bruce berry[a 'roadie],fr. unusually pure powder.Neil then made the album Tinite's the Nite(that song tells the story!)I'ts also why the original vynil had a black cover!I saw himX3 -once w, Danny!

  • Always wondered why Neil never released this on a remastered C.D.. the responses here help explain the mystery...glad I kept my vinyl copy

  • One of the greatest Neil Young never reissued on CD because of the death of his guitarist he fired and who committed to suicide a few hours later. Though for his memory, NY has been opposed to see this LP reissued on CD. I own it on vinyl

  • @TheRunner75 I have a copy too. I saw the concert.

  • @MyVideoStop Wow! You are so lucky... in 1973, I was a young student and couldn't afford to go to many concerts...

  • @TheRunner75 The master tapes are lost, erased, or destroyed, according to rumors.

    Or were never made.

  • @MyVideoStop tourettes84 is correct. He has here a version from a HDCD CD test pressing.

The record company DID remaster the tapes of this album but Neil Young flat-out refuses to release this album on CD. But some test pressing HDCD's exist.

One or two of these songs actually made it on a promotional CD with various artists.

Neil has stated that an archive release will come out but all different songs. And drummer Kenney Buttrey, not Barbata. But Kenny is on a few songs on this LP.

  • @TheRunner75 I have a vinyl too.

  • @TheRunner75 As far as I know: Danny Whitten[his lead guitaist]..along with Bruce Berry[his best 'roadie']took a 'fix' -of unusually pure 'H'....Ciao 'charlie'! I saw the original Crazy Horse

  • Unreal song....!!!!

  • I had this on cassette...I lost it eons ago...I think this is a GREAT album.

  • Neil Young HATED this performance..HATED it..do some research on this FACT! That is why you cannot find this on CD form, at least as far as I know. Anyway, I have this album cover, with no album...and, I wonder who the truck driver was and where he was going, we will NEVER know. FASCINATING!!! In case you have no idea what i am referring to..on the back cover, there is a pic of a tractor/trailer flying by on some highway somewhere.unknown driver wow!!!

  • @apocyldoomer

Hated it? Is kinda funny, since I don't see so many differences qua "sound" as Tonight's The Night album.

  • @DrMerkwuerdichliebe :Danny Whitten[his lead guitarist..from crazy Horse],and bruce berry[his best 'roadie'],never committed suicide!!!!After a show ... early morning hrs.....they took a 'fix' of unusualy pure'H'....theyOD'd. Thus the album :Tonite's the Nite(and song of same name!)..That's why the original vynil had a 'black cover'.... saw NeilX3,in the 70's (once w. danny whitten!!!!)Also w. the 2nd version(-minus danny)of Crazy Horse :performin' ZUMA....Creashonrebel@yahoo.com

  • @DrMerkwuerdichliebe Danny Whitten & bruce berry[his fav. 'roadie']...after a show,took a shot of unusually pure 'smack'....Ciao guys!..Isaw neil X3 -in the 70's :once w. danny & original Crazy Horse..then w. 2nd 'line up' :performin' :ZUMA..also w. C,S&Nash!!!!Creashonrebel@yahoo.com

  • This is so damn good! I can't believe this album isn't available!

  • TIME? You know how time fades away...

There is really nothing we can do about it...but "NOT WAIT till the brake of day".

    SO TRUE!

  • Absolutely the best Neil album ever.....thanks for postinjg!!!!!

  • Graham Nash was in it too.

  • @DrMerkwuerdichliebe David Crosby too.

  • Get this -- I purchased this album at a garage sale for 10 cents.

I wouldn't sell it for anything. I think the stars were aligned when he made this music, this album. But he is so prolific! His music makes me want to visit Canada so bad. And if he were not the incredible musician that he is -- his lyrics would make him a notable poet.

    Long live Niel Young!

  • @mpadraig I don't think you'd want to visit Canada unless you speak Korean, Chinese or Hindi...:)

  • :-)...oh yes!!!! don't be home to late...my favorite album...perfection...too bad Neil will never release, but I respect his thoughts...at least still got vinyl...Time Fades Away, but still lives on

  • simply incomparable

  • Time Fades Away is one of my all time favorite Neil Young songs. I of course owned it in 1973-ish in 8-track form, in a sweet pink case! I haven't heard this song in decades and am grateful that it is posted here so I can listen to it 'till my time fades away. :-)

  • Time Fades Away concert in Roanoke Va

  • Neil Young is a classic who is still relevant today! Thumbs up :D

  • I saw at the, "Time Fades Away," concert in Vancouver. One song I liked that was not included on the album was, "Look Out Joe."

He played it at the concert.

  • @vancouver1907 that's on Tonights The Night album.

  • preach!
