@conesyd clearly you have no idea of the scale of the debt. The UK gave the banks 1200 Billion just last year. YEs we are in debt however less than most economies. Additionally there is no need for cuts as we could achieve three times the cuts by stopping trident a nuclear weapon system which even the top military brass admit that it is a waste of money and useless in todays climate. Had Britain not saved the banks, (although you are naming an amazingly high amount of money) how many more people do you think will be on welfare? The banks still generate an amazing amount of tax for the government. However, I do agree with stopping the production of nuclear weapons. But something else has to give.

Britain could have used the 1.2 trillion to create jobs that the tax payers who own that money gave to the banks for nothing. 1.2 trillion creating jobs there woudl be no unemployed. @fourmanfilms The EDL is a pressure group, with no political affiliation, obviously some rascist scum would support it, but thats not everybody.The Government up to june this year has already borrowed 140 billion pounds, with the cuts ensued, by June in 4 years we will borrow only 40 million.Only 5 billion pounds per year go out to the dole.Although it is a lot, it is a lot less than it seems. Also, the revenue raised by banks is necessary for the govenments.Also there would be a domino effect.
