Poseidon has millions, PR guys working 24/7, to indebt California to pay for a desalting plant that makes water costing too much to sell -- unless they force public agencies to triple water rates. They are the mean ones.
I sat next to a couple of business guys on a flight in the UK recently ... one guy had set up a 10 year deal to buy and ship wood chips from USA and Canada into the UK for a new conversion process ... he hoped to sell up before the 10 year contract was up, as he didn't know where they would get enough biofuel to run it after that!!!
We're getting a de-sal plant in my city (Sydney) at a cost of $Billions to the taxpayers. Our Government simply signed the deal and classified the information. We don't even need the damn thing. More snake oil salesmen to take money from the taxpayers. Outside my window there's desalinated water falling from the sky, it's been falling on and off all year and it's free.
Bringing up the Hwy 91 was a good point, though more roads should have tolls on them, it's not fair to burden property taxpayers for most of the expense.
"Tollroads", like almost all "public-private partnerships", are an invitation to scammers and a violation of the public trust. The public right-of-way is burdened for private benefit; and new roads break up virgin land and open it to despoilation.
We don't really need any new highways, what we need is people paying more for their use directly. The way Hwy 91 was set up is a scam, but what General Motors & Standard Oil did by trashing transit systems was a scam too.
We need better urban planning, so that not so much transport is needed in the first place. SoCal is a fecund garden, no need to fly in Mangos out of season, and no need to clog freeways with IC cars carrying one person each.
Smoke and mirrors, free t-shirts, perfume, free shower heads, ANYTHING to divert your attention from the facts.
Out-right fabrications and lies as these guys have demonstrated.
Can't beat the efficiency of the sun when it comes to cleaning water.
Unfortunately there are places in the world with more people than there is water to supply them. Conservation and education can only do so much to stay-off the escalating problem.
good expose, but that was sandbagging, and thats mean.
