  • Sounds just like Eddy Van Halen if he played Toccata and Fugue in D minor...

  • Gorgeous sound!! and great for this song :)

  • very interesting and entertaining interpretation...!!! had me grinning all the way through.

When closing the eyes here? gave me a vision of someone playing this on a fender strat guitar.

  • I would never have had the originality to make this work on a monosynth. Great job.

  • Fantastic!

  • What device do you use for effects?

  • I renamed one of my LP presets, edited of course, the Gattobus

  • Sounds great. except the unnecessary pitch bends at the end of every phrase. But other than that solid job

  • muito bom!!

  • Sounds fantastic! Reminds me of "Eruption." EVH

  • @fooloof haha exactly:P

  • your wheels hold the power of the sun and your hands are like an unholy eclipse.

  • Fantastic.

  • great job man.

  • Bach adoraria tocar um Moog!!

  • @loudness96

  • this has to be the best sounding synth tone I've ever heard...

  • Who cares all that matters is it sounds mad good.

  • To the people who dislike gattobus' version,

This is obviously inspired by electric guitar-like soloing, and is not trying to completely resemble a traditional classical arrangement. If you don't like tapping and pitch wheel stuff you have the option of listening to the Wendy Carlos version.

  • In the comments on the backside of the "Walter Carlos & the Well-Tempered Synthesizer" album, it is said "We believe that the works heard here... as transposed on this album, with the sounds & voices produced after careful tuning of this new medium... is how their respective composers originally intended for them to be heard." This li'l performance just compounds that. Bravo!

  • so, i'm thinking about getting a new car, but i'm also thinking about getting a moog instead...

  • @levy3poop Ha! Same here! :P

  • Dr green thumb! ...

  • very well done... the Little Phatty is a very surprising machine

  • There's another brighty thing on your table, whats that?

  • @gustavoturm Korg RADIAS ;)

  • @gustavoturm Underneath the Moog, he has a Korg Radias. I've tried it in a music store. Holy shit, what a powerful instrument it is. Here in Norway, the Radias is a bit expensive. Costs around 14000 (2344 USD)

  • @gustavoturm Saw you were from Brazil.. In your currency: 3 980 BRL

  • don't ever use the pitch wheel again.

it was good until you touched that damn pitch wheel.

  • @noclimate ur the only one who thinks that ass

  • @noclimate Uhm, yes mate. ur retarded. Go see a doctor

  • @noclimate indeed.

  • @noclimate Pitch wheel is pretty cool in some songs but u're right. In Toccata & Fugue d-moll pitch wheel shouldn't be use. Your comment should be change(from

"don't ever use the pitch wheel again." to .....don't ever use the pitch wheel again in this song....

  • @ChelseaFC741 i just hate the way he uses the pitch wheel.

he kills the notes, and it feels bad.

  • @noclimate

    i like it ,

His playing around with the sound and its more origanial that way.

  • @ChelseaFC741 I agree with both of you, but I still drooled a little.

  • I love it. :)

  • Lil Tasty tubular tid-bit to chew on! My Lil Fatty is # 58 out of 1200 (bob moog signed, limited edition, only one in hawaii, blah blah ,lol. Easy, real time,Fun and Funky! Rock On Ye' All. DtL

  • that sounds kick ass!

  • Bravo !!!!!

  • i want to download this this is the shit

  • please tell me thats from a preset, and if so which one.. ;)

  • i like ;) any external fx`? cause i hear sum reverb :<

  • I've tried to recreate this epic voice on my LP, but she always sounds like she's straining. It's hard to explain, but it when i play within the octave as this video my moog is screaming and straining and just doesn't sound great like Gattobuss's. Help me before my mind implodes!

  • Brilliant! I think Herr Bach would be stunned!! :) Love that Little Phatty...drool ;)

  • clever use of single note setting on polyphony, I like it.

  • If you are torturing a real masterpiece then do it properly and don´t leave away important notes - that make it a bit harder to play of course .......

  • @anonymusum You do understand that the little phatty is a MONOPHONIC synth meaning those notes you believe he is just brushing aside cant be played, MONO-NO CHORDS..........

  • @puerkasso yeah. fuck you anonymusum and your polyphonic brain. go play your fuckin synth with presets.

  • @anonymusum

yeah like puerkasso said its a mono synth...also how do you properly torture something

  • Comment removed

  • could you give us a tutorial to have the same sound !

    Waoww

  • Da leck mich doch mal einer am arsch. is ja echt die härte was du da zauberst. Respect.

  • Wow! Great job.

It looks as if a preset has been seriously modified (what's the point of having a little phatty otherwise?) but I can't imitate the sound. I just got my Moog and would love to get something close to this sound. Any help out there?

  • he has a tutorial somewhere on the internet I believe, he just didn't post it on his account. look up "Gattobus lead emulation," or something.

  • that blue light you got there kicks ass

  • I just shit my pants......... O.O" WOOOW !!!!

  • great!!!!!!!!!

  • I wish my Little Phatty could make sounds like that. All she does is bitch and moan.

  • you need to treat her well. Buy her gifts, such as modifications and upgrades, she loves that stuff. Also, a Moogerfooger is what she wants for marriage commitment, not a dumbass diamond.

    Good luck!

  • @Faulkenmind I guess you can do it with an audio interface and some guitar stomps simulator.

  • so emotional

  • holy shit.. 2:11-2-15 i nearly crapped my pants

  • :50 - 1:20 EPIC. Hell, the whole thing is epic!!!

  • genial!!! :D

  • sounds like the Daft Punk - Aerodynamic sound. nice work.

  • Excellent! Very expressive.

@ 1:42 - 1:54 I get the feeling that Alice Cooper/Bob Ezrin must have gotten some inspiration for the piano line in "Steven" (on "Welcome to my Nightmare").

  • i've got a little phatty and was wondering how do you make that sound?

  • bravo :D

  • That one hell of a expressive moog great

  • it may be strange but if you listen to the original Bach piece thats actually how it goes.

  • Love it!

  • WONDERFUL JOB :))

  • Moog and Bach, together an unstoppable force.

  • What the hell is that??? You fucking commy no speake da gey launguige....

  • spelling lessons needed ???

  • No, I was making fun of what language they were using. I was being stupid.

  • The little phatty is polyphonic? How many voices?

  • monophonic. 1 voice

  • my god that was spunk worthy. colossus sounds. get a dirty beat involved

  • Too slow and messy, and way too many bends.

  • This sounds so cool! Nice playing. Please tell me how you got the video to play in stereo.

  • In my videos, if I record in stereo, they upload and play back in stereo.

  • That had a real Yngwie Malmstein sensibilty. If I had not seen you play , I would have had a hard time picking this as a keyboard solo....had a really fluid processed neoclassical whammy guitar feel for sure.

I'm impressed with the latest set of Moog offerings out of Ashville NC....very nice. I don't think they've yet managed to get that minimoog sound but boy have they created some warm sounding and versatile analog synths.

    I

    Thanks the masterful demonstration !

  • yngwie was the first thing that came to mind to me too! even reminds me of the keyboards in yngwie's band as well

  • Cool! This is a great version of the Toccata. Thanks.

  • oh sorry, i thought it started on d, never mind

  • this guy is good n i love it... except for the pitch bending

    lil too much i think

    personal preference though i guess

  • u werent actually playing in D minor, that was A minor, good playing though, but be sure next time

  • actually you are wrong, that is D minor. he is playing the same notes as the original work

  • nope...its in d minor

  • wow i like this

  • precioso!

  • wow! that's an amazing sound!

  • i loved the interpretation, but less pitch bending wouldn't hurt :)

that moog just makes me drool :D

  • brilliant! how much does the little phatty run?

  • $1285 for a Stage II. You can find used ones on E-Bay for less.

  • sounds like something Eddie Van halen would do. looks like ol ' Bach' was light years ahead.

  • or maybe, just maybe eddie tries to sound a little like bach?

  • dont just say that give a reson

  • the synth is fine and he sure has skills but that pitch bend inferno reminds me of bad 80s hair-crime rock. i dont mean to be a dick but there is a line between showing skills and jerking off.

  • oh my GOOOD!

  • can you share your patch details?

  • What do guys with this kind of time on their hands do for a living to be buying all this hella expensive equipment?

  • Two words. Expert. Programmers.

  • Little Phatty's arent that expensive, around 1300/1500 CND. The MiniMoog voyager is around 3000.

  • I, for one, am a psych nurse for the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Illinois.

  • Nice.

you maybe use a little too much the detune wheel and it would deserve to be clearer in the fast parts.

    But great sound !

  • Anyone know a good mic for recording keyboard stuff?

I got an old Yamaha keyboard that I'd like to record songs with but all I got is my headset mic lol. Any mic I should look into?

  • Use Fl Studio, that's what I have. Hook your keyboard to it, press the record button on there and you go at it. No mic needed.

  • You should go direct with a keyboard instead of micing, unless you are doing something special like running your rig through a guitar amp, in which case a Sure SM 57/58 will do.

  • These guys on the Audacity forum said the same thing. Though, idk if they posted good cables.

Is there any way you can search, Airhendrix + Audacity and look at the post and see if its right for me?

Just wondering. Thanks for the feedback though :D.

  • Go directly into the LINEIN on your sound card.. dont mic a line instrument like a synth, theres no need or purpose you will lose all the clarity. Use whatever cable flow will get you into your DAW or recording software.. should be pretty simple to work out.

  • Nice. I like the sound.

  • HEY great sound i have played this vid so many times i love it :)

  • hack

  • That was awesome.

    5 stars!

  • are you a guitarist also?

  • Great!

Even listening to this over my macbook speakers, you can hear the power.

  • Nice job, but I think Johann-Sebastian would make a wry face hearing your playing... uhuhuh!

The pattern between 0:21-0:28 should have been played, the second time at 0:30, one octave upper. At 0:36-0:47 you don't play the original theme. And your fingers make a strong mistake from 1:00 to 1:06.

However this is an interesting interpretation. Great job!

  • As you can see, I'm not a classical player...

It was only an interpretation of the original, just like an improvisation.

I usually don't think when I'm playing, I just let the music flow...

    Sorry for Bach fans...

  • Dude It's fine. I'd rather be able to hear a persons unique interpretation and be able to peer into their souls than to hear the other 10,000 people who just read off sheet music following note by note.

  • True that. Ever heard of improvisation Itarrisse you idiot?

    I thought not.

  • AirHendrix, what a poor guy you are... You do not understand humor. I won't spend my time to explain a joke. Persons like you, that do not understand any kind of humor, should simply go away instead of giving the world a proof of their mediocrity. Sorry, I am too witty for you.

    Condolences.

    And good luck.

  • Sarcastic humor is for uptight douches like you I see.

  • great sound overall, nice to see someone actually playing their gear rather than just playing with their gear.

The pitch bend at the end of each phrase messes up your flow.

  • OMG hAxXx00Rzz shr3dd sk1llz!!1! You just caused a time rift that sucked my house into 1978. The alley gate got damaged. You owe me big time.

  • Forgive my ignorance, but I have only recently found out about MOOGs. What an amazing instrument! Great interpretation of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in Dm! This thing is much better than computer synths I use.

  • As a soft synth user you should dig Arturia's(sp?) take on the Moog...if your weak IBM can handle it...unless you have a ten thousand dollar Mac Pro, because that's the only thing that can run Moog V smoothly.

  • "unless you have a ten thousand dollar Mac Pro, because that's the only thing that can run Moog V smoothly."

    No ...

  • Please tell me that patch is a preset. I would kill to get as awesome a synth sound as that one.

  • Sorry, that's not a preset sound...

  • i could have soooooo much fun with that little phatty wat eva its called very nice

  • pitch wheel not whammy bar... I think it sounds awesome.

  • fantastisch

  • Very MEGA!

  • does the little phatty do chords?

  • No - it doesn't

  • bunk!

  • For analog poly synths (chords) take a look at new DS Prophet 8 or Andromeda.

  • GodDAMN that's cool

  • "Are you going for an electric guitar feel? As if Jimmi Hendrix were playing this?" The scoopy sounding bends on lots of notes sounds a lot like Steve Vai. he's all over youtube. some tracks he's all over the whammy bends too.

  • Wicked mate! Sounds like Muse... im sure they used a riff or two!

  • That´s amazing!

    Great work, man!

  • Thats nice.

    Sounds just like guitar tapping

  • cool performance, nice use of the pitch bends.

  • very very nice... it'll take a lots of experince to do that... i think i'll start now, i'm craving my moog!

  • I've got a question: are there work differences between Moog Little Phatty tibute editon and stage edition? Thank you...

  • definitely a great way to emulate one of the best-known songs of all time.

also, you excellently took advantage of the monophonic nature of the little phatty...great job. definitely praiseworthy.

  • Again, I do love this performance, but I don't understand the pitch bends, then it hit me. Are you going for an electric guitar feel? As if Jimmi Hendrix were playing this? Now it makes sense if so.

  • wow! what a clever way to play (emulate) counterpoint music with a monophonic synth! I ilke the anchored finger technique, never thought of that. Do you like the Phatty?

  • Either low, high or last note priority.

  • One of my favorite songs on one of my favorite instruments... Lovely. :)

  • i dont know what that thing on the left side of the key-bord is cold, but you should hawe dropped it

  • Is that Radias just on or is it effecting the sound at all in this video?

  • Very nice, but apart from MIDI and the obvious mod-cons, what does it do that a Prodigy couldn't 27-odd years ago? (Not a criticism btw, just curious!)

    HRx

  • Stay in tune, store patches... overload filter, nicer keyboard with a warranty? not gonna break down, looks killer.

  • ....has no backup if you try to update OS.... Yes.

    What sonically I meant!

  • that is an awesome aggressive tone.

  • this seriously is my new favorite keyboard.. i really liked the virus one but this is amazing

  • this is the coolest thing i heard all day,the tone is freakin awesome.music to my ears

  • holy shit sounds like early van halen on guitar or something

  • Nice agressive sound, thanks.
