  • if this is amtrak's most popular train, then why haven't they applied it to more routes, such as Los Angeles, CA to Portland, OR?

  • im amtrak or via rail used full lenght dome cars made out of light weight material itd be awesome. after all the dome car is the canadian invention

  • I was on the train during spring break and I was in coach while my parents were in sleeper or whatever you like to call it.I felt the wiggling in coach on those freight rails

  • saw the VHS version. WHAT A PIECE HISTORICAL EVIDENCE!

  • love this amtrak old schem and passenger cars

  • Do you sit in your car the whole time?

  • @flywithjacob uh no, thats what the passenger cars are for

  • 1:11 Who the hell pays money to ship a Toyota Tercel?

  • @cesariojpn That video was shot man back in 1993/94

  • @AmJaxineer

And again, who the hell pays money to ship a Toyota Tercel?

  • @cesariojpn Again, who ever the hell wants to. You aint paying for it so who cares?

  • @AmJaxineer

  • @cesariojpn Its youtube retard.....sheesh you must have graduated at the top of your class.

  • @AmJaxineer

If you call me retard, you're the retard.

  • @cesariojpn - Um, as far as I can tell, YOU DID!

  • Cool vid!

  • This program of Amtrak's auto train is great! If only this was made in present day or it would have been even better with the new amtrak autoracks/superliners! seriously though, pentrex should update their programs and do sequels of their older programs, nice programs either way.

  • u cant even get this on dvd or video anymore.

  • This must be really old. They use Superliner Cars now. (BTW You guys might want update your videos) Just Saying, but nice cab view

  • This is the type train we need going across america. New York to Los Angeles Miami Florida to Seattle Washington, Southern Texas to Chicago. High speed with sleepers, food service, and entertainment car. It would be the greatest in the world. Include semi-trucks and save the pollution. It can be done, without spending all of the money on studies. Just do it section by section America

  • @radoliz2

You could not be more right, what a great experience that would be.

  • Ahh... there used to be a time when all trains were run with Amfleets and Heritage fleet cars; the times they are a changin'-from F40s, Heritage cars, and Phase III paint to P42s, Amfleet IIs and Phase V paint!

  • need to put rain-X on windsheild....

  • 'Required' I don't think Amtrak turns away customers who don't want to take their vehicles with them.

  • @penguingeneral2 It is required that you have a auto on this particular train.

    From amtrak.com

"To travel on the Auto Train you must reserve space for a vehicle, and check in your vehicle prior to travel."

  • @torg0 Dang. Surprises me. But I guess they want to conserve capacity for the people who will give them the most money.

  • I can't wait till this comes out! I was just down in florida a week ago and watched it pass through Deland (too bad the lead locomotive had an E-Bell), aside from the sound of the bell, a lot has changed with the train from the 90s to today.

  • I love this video. Have it on good old VHS. Any plans for an update video? This one has to be 15 years old.
