  • Good for hair, progressive, death, power, and other kinds of metal. I like to use it for leads that cut through the mix, such as a Rush tune, etc.

  • I have this pedal and i LOVE IT!

  • lol-Devils music.I get the sarcastic aspect..i see some people don't. Shit don't take life so serious.

  • made in the 90's and still in production. its funny I always wanted one when I was a kid. now that I got $ dont have one yet but I will buy one soon on CL for $30 he he he.

  • I've had this pedal 5 years...without doubt the best distorion pedal around. It even beats programmed distorion in Line 6 amps and equivalent brands. See my videos for recordings of songs where all the gear is like so:

    Guitar-->Metal Zone-->Amp (on clean)-->Microphone (Shure SM-57).

I played multiple genres rock/blues/metal and theres both cleans and heavy distortion.

    -UnpopularPoppy

  • This is the first pedal I ever bought I didn't care for it coarse when your 11 and it's all u got u still play it

  • that recording sounds like shit

  • Que bagunça do cacete! Prefiro o D.O.D. OVERDRIVE!

  • hairy arm

  • OH MY GOD!!!...sorry...OH MY DEVIL!!!

  • devil music? get fucked

  • well, i preffer the electro harmonix "metal muff", and i dont know why

  • metal zone vs metal core???

  • @kingmonster12 Metalzone. This pedal is more reliable. the lows kinda fell off on my metalcore which sucks because i play 7 string -_- so i got this and its better. but it depends on the kind of sound your trying to acheive

  • @ILoveallguitars i got Boss Metal Zone & Metal Core.. i recon Metal Core its way better than Metal Zone. especially in Dropp Tuning & 7 string guitar.. they both perfect pedal Love it so much! no wonder its #1 pedal in the world... just bought my Metal Core this Morning. cuz my metalzone is broken.... & when i started to use it jeeezz..... it blows my fucking ear drum!... im not gonna buy metalzone anymore im gonna stick to METAL CORE!

  • @GlenGrunge .... this comment has aided in a decision that I have been trying to make for the past 2 hours; I have a 7-sting, currently tuned to Drop A, and I was thinking to either get the Metal Zone/Metal Core pedal.

  • @MyBandNameWasTaken well i must say %100 sure BOSS METAL CORE its all u need mate! its a perfect pedal to all the Dropp Tuning player! thats why they name it to metalcore! cuz its very simple. metalcore songs mostly its in the Dropp Tune! DIGETECH DEATH METAL is awesome too! u can hear the sound of pedal here in youtube! just type it, or go to BOSSchannel. or Digetechchannel!

  • @GlenGrunge .... I've played with a Digitech Death Metal, and I didn't like it too much: Too much fuzz, not enough chug, but that's just me. I like to hear a deep "punch you in the balls" sound and crisp high tones...

  • @MyBandNameWasTaken what amp did u use? im using Mg 15 DFX Marshall its only for practice amp. maybe u just need to adjust the CONTOUR, TREBLE & BASS of your amp... and when u done that oh men. Awesome Metal Sound!

  • @RedSandwich. I like the pedal. Has a nice crunch to it if you get the right settings and have a decent amp. Don't listen to the downers though. The Boss Metal Core pedal is a great metal pedal I think.

  • you got tom have a tube poweramp to make it sound nicely.

  • I use these quick settings for a solid practice tone on simple SS combo amps:

    MZ pedal:

    Level: noon

Bass, treble, mid, mid-frequency: 2 o'clock (all of them)

    Dist: 1 o'clock

    Amp:

    Bass & treble: 3 o'clock

    Mids: 11 o'clock

Basically, on the MZ pedal you boost (emphasize) the mids at the specific peak frequency, and on the amp you scoop them out a bit (peak frequency depends on the amp).

  • If you have a cheap solid-state practice amp and some distortion pedal like this one, there is no way of getting really close to that modern, fat, compressed, rectified hi-gain metal sound. Most beginners are not aware of that. So we often see inexperienced people saying that distortion pedals are useless crap, because they can't produce the metal dream-tone. It's funny, because with little tweaking, a beginner can make a solid practice tone.

  • 0:00 nice hands

  • I have the Boss Metal Core pedal now I am considering getting the Metal Zone pedal. Do the two pedals sound good paired together?

  • @jedimastergarcia87 Whats your opinion on the metal core?

  • MT-2 is a pretty good distortion pedal. Period. You just have to know how to use it properly. There are two things needed for this: patience and some basic knowledge about guitars and equipment. Two of my friends have had this pedal for years, yet they didn't know how to find the nice metal sound they want. One of them borrowed his MT-2 to me. It took me only about 20 minutes to find a good tone. When I set up his MT-2 and amp, he was really surprised with the rich and powerful tone.

  • digitech death metal kills this shit same with the metal core

  • haha So happy I bought the ml-2 xD

  • I have it and i hate it.

  • @airsoftQ You just have to set it up right. I have got it and a friend of me has it, too and we both have a good brutal sound with the MT-2. It took me almost an hour to get the right settings but now I'm complete satisfied^^

  • The ML-2 is better by miles xD.

  • bit nasal for me ill go listen to themetal core

  • This is the pedal Daron Malakian uses :D

  • holy shit!!!

  • you need more level with your tone!!! All I'm hearing is your amp used by a tiny boost! =P..

little more lows and little more highs would do a trick too lol, way less mids too... scoopeds the way to be

  • Where is the boss psa?

  • Was that a satan's hand or something?

  • I used the Metal Zone for a year until I decided to switch to my amp distortion and throw an overdrive pedal in front to boost the gain and volume, for the time I used I think it kicks ass if you have just the right settings.

  • @d22587 what overdrive pedal do you use?

  • this video sucked.. at least play something else besides palm muted notes and a few power chords or perfect fifths

  • how did you eq that plz

  • ME GUSTO TU VIDEO TAMBIEN TENGO UN BOSS METAL ZONE YEHAAAAA

  • omg shat myself at the hand! you freak lmao

  • what's "devil music"?

  • ur good=)

  • i have never used an pedal before but have been guitar for 4 years do you recomand any distortion pedals that are really good for 90s and modern day rock/metal

  • @rakita13

no because that music is gay

  • @Riotstarter100 lol then what are you doing looking at BOSS MT-2 Metal Zone Distortion Pedals? XD

  • @Riotstarter100 how is modern rock/metal gay?

  • @BrokenString18

    because its my opinion

  • I used to love this pedal a long time ago (does work good on starter amps), but now I really hate this pedal. It is always a compromise between articulation and crunch and there is a wishy-washy/nasally sound that is always lurking. It had its run as the top distortion pedal for a while (compared to other brands that were just awful, digitech, DOD,etc.), but I always seem to fall back on amp distortion.

  • @kiznert I couldn't agree with you more. Same exact scenario, I have a Digitech processor ("sound bank") pedal. And it doesn't compare to the LINE 6 amp head.

  • i love and hate this pedal, ....i love it when people know how to set it, and i hate the pedal when everyone does the same setting on it,..MIDS = 0 LOWS = 10 HIGHS = 8 DISTORTION = 10

  • this pedal is only good on starter amps or when you use it as boost with level on max gain on 0 and the EQ neutral.

but then again a tube screamer as boost is way better

all those great metal bands all use tube screamer as boost. and it's not with such crap pedals that yuou will get a good tone

  • @SIGN666 comment removed by the cyber police

  • I'm waiting for one of these in the mail, can't wait

  • i have one this and sounds fuckin great

  • do i decide to get a MD-2, MT-2 OR A DS-2!?? plz help.

  • @Gingerlord01

I have MT-2 and this sounds great! but if u need low hard core metal distortion u must buy ML-2...

MD-2 is not for me... don't like the sound!

DS-2 is the rock pedal, but I prefer TURBO DISTORION to DS-2

  • @IronMetl ok thnks. i went down to the music shop today. am gnna try get the MT-2. thnks for the help though

  • This pedal blows cocks

  • @ShimmySystem It only sucks dick if you cant set it up properly. I've seen thirty peple spend half an hour with one and say it sucks. I spent 2 hours tweaking and now it sounds FUCKING BRUTAL!

  • @TheSchafer78 You also need to make different setups for soloing and for riffing. I noticed how on this pedal you can't make those compromises. Can sound really terrible and really good, depends on settings.

  • @TheSchafer78 I didn't spend a lot of time on one I found at a music store and I found a sound I liked on it. You pretty much have to know what everything on the pedal does. Otherwise you're not gonna get anything from it.

  • @TheSchafer78

on your line 6? sure it does

i have the pedal for 3 years now first i thought it was good , and i can set it up very well so it sounds great AT LOW VOLUME

cause i giged with it or at least tried and it's fucking crap the feedback blew my ears off! and when the gain isn't maxed it fuzzes too much. this is not a quality pedal it has too many gain to hanndle on itself. stop trying to justify this pedal you noobs only play on volume 2 or 3 or just have bad taste.

  • @alexAENESIDEManders I dont own any line6 products. I have a Peavey TNT150 Bass amp (now discontinued), Ive used My MT-2 through shitty amps and high end tube amps. It sounds great. It depends on your settings tho, Anything sounds like shit with too much or too little of something.

  • @alexAENESIDEManders

i'm sorry but there are only a few settings on this pedal that make it sound a bit ok.

really gig with it once or TRY, it will produce so much feedback that your audience will instantly die.

allso any other setting sounds quite fuzzy and sloppy. not to mention it completely changes the sound and removes all autenticity.so yes if you like characterless, sloppy fuzzy, not tight, feedback producing, you might like this pedal very much. i respect all opinions though.

  • @alexAENESIDEManders

and to finish off what i couldn't put in my last message.

i respect all opinions, but this allmost isn't a question of opinion anymore, MODDED this pedal is good! but unmodded this pedal is noise, sloppy chaotic noise. and i swear try once to gig with it and you will want to throw it far far faaaar away.

  • @TheSchafer78 - well said.

  • @frozenflameshine thx man

  • @TheSchafer78 how did you put the eq?:)

  • @dark666shredder high: about 3 o clock Bass: about 2 o clock mid: freq: a bit above 1 third the way up and the amount of mids is at about 10:30. but this pedal is very sensitive to amp choice. My amp is acctually an old bass amp. The thing with the mt-2 is what frequency u set the mid knob to boost or cut. that is the key. fuck that up and youll sound like shit. dont go and scoop out all the mids. The mids are actually important. They are the CORE of your sound. only scoop a little.

  • @dark666shredder also, I had the Distortion between 2 thirds and all the way up.

  • @TheSchafer78 can you give me your settings so ? xD

  • @ANDRELAMBERT007 I can give you my settings, but how this pedal sounds and how you need to set it really depends on your amp, guitar and playing technique and the sound your going after. my settings are a s follows:

    level: 2:00

    bass (lows) : 2:30

    treble (highs) : 3:00

mid: aprox. 11:00 maybe a little higher (Dont scoop to much, if you do u loose your tone. More mids is better)

mid freq : a little lower than mid

Only use the as a guide, try these and try whats in the manual. then expiriment.

  • @TheSchafer78 Thanks. I'll try it here. But Im thinking in buying the BOSS ME-70 =D

  • @ANDRELAMBERT007 Dont, just dont. Boss multi fx suck. Ive used em. DONT get multi fx if you treasure actually sounding good. Get that out of your head. Save up more cash and get an amp. A good one, like a mesa boogie, or a peavey 6505, or a diezel, or DAR, or Bogner, or Krank, or Engl. Just dont get multi fx. Think of it this way, the more you cram into that small "dish" the less room you have for the quality "sauce" you put on to make it taste good.

  • @TheSchafer78 I just have one pedal right now, hahahaha, the boss metalzone, LOL, im thinking in buying the boss me70 or a line6 hd300 .....theyre good, Ive hears lots of reviews and demos , right now i dont have money for a good amp, but when i have, i will buy a mesa boogie dual rectifier certainly ;D

  • Respond to this video... 1 ammendment. There are only 2 multi fx ive used that dont blow cocks. Axe FX and the Eleven Rack. Buy one of those if your set on multi fx.

  • @TheSchafer78 cmon, the boss me 70 dont sux too much , its a good multi efx , but the line6 pod hd300 is a way better for the same price

  • Comment removed

  • @ANDRELAMBERT007 No, in a while you'll regret buying multiFx. If you have 2 or 3 style you mainly play get a nice amp and stick with that. Its gonna get you farther and sound better. The only reason Id have anyone get multi fx is if they play a billion different genre's on a regular basis. With my half stack (just a standard amp and no pedals) I can play punk, blues, jazz, rock, metal, pop, hardcore and some other stuff) it just takes some time to get to know your gear, thats all it takes.

  • @TheSchafer78 or want delay, reverb modulation and wah/volume/whammy pedal in one place

  • @veeragandersucks Still not a good reason. The only multi fx ive seen that match individual pedals are the ElevenRack and the Fractal Audio Axe FX.

  • @ANDRELAMBERT007 Also, I use the level knob to drive my amps input a little harder to get chunkier thicker low end.

  • @SIGN666 So you need 3 pedals to get 1 good sound? Honestly, the Metal Zone is pretty crappy. I got one when they first came out years ago. Yeah, they've got gain but the EQ on them has this annoying nasally sound. You're better off with using a Boss Super OD to boost an amp's front end.

  • If you want to get some awesome tone out of this pedal, dial the level to 12 o'clock, low: 2 o'clock, middle: 9 o'clock, mid freq: 11 o'clock high: 3 o'clock, distortion: 5 o'clock.

  • this pedal sounds great. crank up the tube amp and throw this in front with a EQ pedal for lead boost and its the sound you need. thats it.

  • As I stated in the World Music Supply video about this pedal is that you MUST modify it to get it to sound good. Sad, but true. Then you need a good amp and closed back speaker cabinet (8 ohms or more) to get the pure essence of this modified pedal. Modified, this pedal moves the air. This was the first time I ever experienced something like this and was completely blown away! By the way, Keely Electronics modified my pedal, and they told me what to do to get the most from this pedal. Call them.

  • i have a line 6 uber metal distortion pedal but this seems to be better for me. anyone want to trade? haha

  • why do people recomend this for death metal? its actualy for old school metal and some modern stuff lol. if you want death metal you could use the ml2 with the high knob and distortion up

  • Miałem kiedyś coś takiego :D Siarzy jak psia mać! Psuje do brzmienie każdego wzmacniacza. Niech żyje metal!! Ave Piżmak.

  • This pedal needs to be boosted to sound best. It's sort of mellow otherwise.

  • OMG! I saw the hand and kinda looked closer and then the sound blasted......time to change pants....brb

  • @Whisp201 did you actually shit yourself???

  • holy fuck...thats like a caveman hand...that is HAIRY!!....oh...good playing...sorta XD hahha

  • Now that I compared ML and MT.. I prefer ML cuz it has more bass xD but this pedal is awesome for metallica but I'm more of a NU metal guy

  • @SIGN666

it does sound like crap if it's not modded

  • alright for bedroom practice, but useless in a live or recording setting, try a noise gate and a tubescreamer in front of a good distortion channel, with plenty of mids rather than a tinny scooped tone.

  • spider line 6 dont need pedals it has its own efc fx it is what it is

  • Ok I really need someone to help me! I just got the boss mt 2 metal zone today and the amp I currently have is a 15 watt line 6 spider 3. And idk the sound sounded a little well bad. My amp was making strange noises behind the distortion. And my question is... Is it my pedal or my amp that's the problem!!!!?!???!

  • @fritosofdoritos its the amps noise suppressor thats doin it. read the manual and find out hot to take it off hope that helps ps i got one too

  • @fritosofdoritos metal distortion pedals sound like shit if you put them in most small amps. For example, I had the Randall Kirk Hammet Signature 15 Watt, and I used the Metal Muff with it... The sound was so terrible I gave it to other people for free. Then I bought the Vox DA20 amp and add the pedal and it gives me the tone you find in youtube review videos. So I would say it's your amp. Metal distortion works best with warm, clean amp. Twangy clean amp will ruin your distortion.

  • @fritosofdoritos its the amp. to use any pedal with a spider you must use the clean channel with NO EFFECTS

  • im new to pedals and stuff... will this pedal work with any amps? all i have right now is a spider IV 15.

  • @SORGENSxKAMMER I think the spider´s distortion is better.

  • @SIGN666 yeaaah his the truth, i use a MZ with crunch overdrive and sounds amazing.. but..alone ..is shit

  • fuck the mt-2. just use R-fier on a roland cube 30x

  • i had this fuck boss hate metal sound!! only black metal underground is true...satanic warmaster! drowning the light!......

  • MT, seems like a Mick Thompson signature? I'm just saying that's what it seems like to me.

  • What efeect do you recommend for playing The Devil Wears Prada, August Burns Red, Underoath? Metal Core or Metal Zone??

  • Ok, this is one of the sickest pedals around. I've been playing guitar for almost 20 years and this is what I use. It has a crazy range, a full spectrum of almost every Heavy Metal sound that you want. The value is unbelievable. Get yourself one for your arsenal. Hands down one of the best tools that you can buy. Made by one of the best names in ROCK.... BOSS...

  • how much do these generally cost??

  • @SIGN666 ..., blah, blah, blah. If you need that much shit to make this pedal sound good to you, you're using the wrong fucking pedal. I've forgotten more about shaping tone than you'll ever know. Go play a Creed song.

  • What happened to your hand?

  • I like the settings with low and high all the way up, low mids about 3/4 up and high mids about halfway up, distortion all the way up and level as high as it'll go without feedback ;D

  • Педаль норм конешн... но много необузданных бассов, иногда бесит...

  • @MoxoFF13 speak english

  • @sunnyjim98 Speak russian, what a problem??)))

  • add a compression box and a reverb and u got an amazing sound!

  • OMFG it scared the shit outa me i had my speakers really high volume by accident and that devil hand just scared me shitless!

  • This has a beter tone then the ML2 Metal Core

  • Best distortion stomp box ever

  • Does any one know how well this pedal would work on a Line 6 Spider lll 15 watt amp???

  • lovely

  • Just because you like other pedals more than this doesn't mean that everyone thinks it sounds like crap.

  • i have the same amp and same question! i need a pedal cuz im too lazy to change the settings manually but i dont know which one will work best....

  • I don't like this pedal. Bought one last year and sound like a.. cauldron. I prefer the Metal Core for the quality. But if you don't have a good amp, it can maybe help using the metal zone to get some more quality

  • I have a Metal Zone, and personally, i think its amazing =]

  • a have a heavy metal pedal from the same makers :)

  • this pedal sucks, because there is too much "sand" in the highs, to cut this need good eq.

  • you suck its the best metal singel pedal ever

  • It makes a really good paper-weight though.

  • I agree this pedal sounds like shit. My HM-2 and HM-3 are far better. This sounds like garbage

  • @6ceska6republika6 how so? I don't know what one I should get. For lack of better words, I want "brutal" (lol) and tight low end.

  • Best pedal I have ever bought hands down.

  • @RockinRob2112 yeah i love it to i got it wit a dd 7

  • the good old metal zone sounds great in the bedroom on the practice amp but after that the usefulness declines sharply

  • HELP ME PLEASE...I have a TSL 100 JCM 2000...MT2 and don't know where to go from here. Not happy with the amp...Any suggestions?

  • @scottymaxxx i have the same amp and i have completely given up on BOSS pedals with it. its all about MXR! that amp has sooo many tone possibilities so just keep trying it out and if you dont like it try different tube. plus what kind of guitar are you using?

  • new tubes, and get it biased.

  • @scottymaxxx Sell the TSL, its completely retarded to have $2000 amp with a $50 pedal. Buy a Peavey 6505+ instead.

  • Get rid of the MT2, go pick up a graphic eq and a tube screamer for boost. You have a tube amp, you don't need a distortion pedal.

  • Nice tuning, try low F Standard on a 7 string :)

  • Comment removed

  • SHIT YOU SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME!!!

  • the hand in the beginning scared the shit out of me xD

  • @naulty3500 omfg me too!!!

  • @naulty3500 me too :D :D

  • @naulty3500 same hereXD

  • @naulty3500 yeah me too.. it shocked me.. lolz

  • @naulty3500 lol,me too

  • @naulty3500 holy shit me to haha

  • @naulty3500 same here

  • @naulty3500 Lol the first time I saw this was scary too lol

Especially the surprise ooh at the beginning

  • whats up with the hand?

  • holy shit! that first part made me jump!

  • metal muff is better in my opinion thats why i bought one instead i tried them all

  • its my personal experience...metal zone is good in metal rythm parts but for lead parts...i use my dual overdrive.........

  • you need a very good amp to use that metal zone effect and a very big one...it will surely eat small amplifiers

  • @yngwue

  • @yngwue but if you have a big amp it will generally have a decent overdrive circuit already which raises the point of "what the hell is the point"

  • crate 120w full stack its pretty decent. but needs to be quite loud to get the tone up there.

  • how much this pedal? i´m interested in this pedal

  • ok need some help digitech tl-2 or this boss pedal i play alot of drop c type stuff just some modern day metalcore stuff. ive got a fender super champ xd tube amp, so which one

  • Dude,
