would be grateful if people read my acting blog, which includes my journey to become an actor, including the story of why our school production of ARSENIC AND OLD LACE was cancelled.
Haha, I love this movie! In high school, we put on the play (I was old Aunt Abby). Love this line, love this movie, love Cary Grant... And I love my step-dad, because he got me a copy of this movie! YAY!
@JuanMacready Mr. Grant was in my opinion very talented. Additionally, I would disagree that it was his worst performance, even though he does insist that it was.
Hahaha I watched this movie years ago and I loved it! But I forgot all about it. And suddenly the name just came to mind one day, I cant belive I almost forgot it... never again!
One of my favorite Cary Grant movies, which is ironic since he himself hated this role and performance so much he donated his entire salary from the film to the war effort. He donated quite a percentage of other salaries to the war effort as well.
I wonder if in early egyptian days, the Jewish slaves were comforting themselves with thoughts of "well, it couldn't be much worse! I'll bet it's smooooth sailing from here on out for us jews!!"
LOL, that's prolly not funny. But if it helps, there's ZERO proof there were ever ANY jews in egypt at this time, let alone hundreds of thousands of slaves.
Our local community theatre company did a production of this play last summer. It was there biggest seller the whole season, they completely sold out one night. The guys playing Teddy and Dr. Einstein got the most laughs.
My high school did it back in 1967. I played Mortimer. I begged my teacher into letting do the chair stunt that Cary Grant did when he was chasing the old man out of the house. He finally gave in and we had a great play that year. We also di Finnian's Rainbow.
You missed the best part od the scene which was a few seconds before where Cary Grant is coming down the stairs and sees his brother for the first time and says "whats that thing there? "
Cary Grant is my all-time favorite actor. I just love him in this film and in His Girl Friday. (his best) In Arsenic and Old Lace there is a scene, towards the end, when Jonathan threatens to brain everyone in the room with a telephone. Has anyone uploaded this clip?
haha "where'd you get that face- hollywood?" lmao saw this movie in classic films class, it's the best. i couldn't remember the name until i typed in a description of it on google. my all-time 1940's movie!!
I believe so, however that term was a little before my time. I'm only 21, but my father has ensured that I've seen most of the classics (That he likes).
This movie ROCKS MY SOCKS OFF!!! If it wasn't for CE class in school I NEVER would have even thought about watching it but I turned out to LOVE this movie!
