  • I lived with such a woman for many years. She put drugs in everybody's food & drinks. Almost killed me.

  • Holy mackerel! Jonathan's face explained -- he is a genuine alien!

  • one of THE best movies. not to mention one of THE best actors ever (Cary Grant).

  • He says it just like Robin

    HOLY MACKEREL

'cept Robin says holy sardine but close too.

  • Haha, I love this movie! In high school, we put on the play (I was old Aunt Abby). Love this line, love this movie, love Cary Grant... And I love my step-dad, because he got me a copy of this movie! YAY!

  • Grant rightly called this his worst-ever performance.

  • @JuanMacready Rightly? In my opinion it was excellent.

  • @Mechanized0 It was the talentless draft dodging faggot's worst ever performance.

  • @JuanMacready Mr. Grant was in my opinion very talented. Additionally, I would disagree that it was his worst performance, even though he does insist that it was.

  • great clip id love to watch the original again. this movie is easily in y top 10 favorites of all time. Thanks for bringing back my memorys

  • CHAAAAARGE !!!!! lol

  • my parents did NOT understand my sense of humor until they watched this movie!! that goes to show how funny it is!

  • This movie has my all-time favorite line in it: "Madness runs in my family. It practically gallops!"

  • where'd you get that face, hollywood?

  • One of my favorite Cary Grant movies, which is ironic since he himself hated this role and performance so much he donated his entire salary from the film to the war effort. He donated quite a percentage of other salaries to the war effort as well.

  • What a great cause that was, too! Woo! Hoorah for genocide!

    HOLY mackerel!

  • The cause to defeat Nazi facism? Yeah, that was a great cause.

  • I wonder if in early egyptian days, the Jewish slaves were comforting themselves with thoughts of "well, it couldn't be much worse! I'll bet it's smooooth sailing from here on out for us jews!!"

LOL, that's prolly not funny. But if it helps, there's ZERO proof there were ever ANY jews in egypt at this time, let alone hundreds of thousands of slaves.

  • i am martha brewster in my high school.

    i like this play

  • im abby brewster.

dude this play is awesome to be in.

  • Our local community theatre company did a production of this play last summer. It was there biggest seller the whole season, they completely sold out one night. The guys playing Teddy and Dr. Einstein got the most laughs.

  • i'm playing the female version of rooney!

  • i'm playing martha brewster in a production at my high school! yay!

  • My high school did it back in 1967. I played Mortimer. I begged my teacher into letting do the chair stunt that Cary Grant did when he was chasing the old man out of the house. He finally gave in and we had a great play that year. We also di Finnian's Rainbow.

  • I Was in this Play In my senior year of high school.

And boy did we have a BLAST!!!!!XD

  • You missed the best part od the scene which was a few seconds before where Cary Grant is coming down the stairs and sees his brother for the first time and says "whats that thing there? "

  • Cary Grant is my all-time favorite actor. I just love him in this film and in His Girl Friday. (his best) In Arsenic and Old Lace there is a scene, towards the end, when Jonathan threatens to brain everyone in the room with a telephone. Has anyone uploaded this clip?

  • haha "where'd you get that face- hollywood?" lmao saw this movie in classic films class, it's the best. i couldn't remember the name until i typed in a description of it on google. my all-time 1940's movie!!

I like this enjoyable, fine sense of humour, btw i´ve never seen this movie without beeing dubbed.

Is it true, that the americans call those kinds of movies "screwball comedy"?

    Thanks for uploading!

  • I believe so, however that term was a little before my time. I'm only 21, but my father has ensured that I've seen most of the classics (That he likes).

  • This movie ROCKS MY SOCKS OFF!!! If it wasn't for CE class in school I NEVER would have even thought about watching it but I turned out to LOVE this movie!

  • Hehe, yeah. I saw it because of my dad, and then showed it to fellow classmates back in. . .fifth grade. Wow. . .it's been a while. -_-

  • I rented it from Netflix.

  • Does anyone know where one can buy a video of the film?

    If it exists?

  • I got my copy on Amazon it's the only play I could find it for a reasonable price. I found a copy at FYE but they wanted almost $30 for it.

  • @LoveyB netflix

  • I love this movie! Plus ...We're doing it as the play this year and I'm one of the aunts.

  • This is one of my favorite movies too. I love how you can take Jonathan seriously as a truly sinister character, but there's still room for comedy.

  • I'm glad to know that there are people that have seen this. Jonathan is one of the best characters ever too.

  • Brilliant movie, wonderful if short clip! Thanks!

  • Holy mackerel! Excellent stuff!

  • I'm glad to see people enjoying this. It's a great old movie that most people have never heard of. ^_^
