  • ah eu nao sei fazer... em tem 12 pessoas que não sabem tambem hehehehe

  • Bass is the most manly Instrument in the Universe - besides flute XD

  • there is really no need for the drums with a bassplayer like victor wooten

    and i´m a drummer!

  • If you think bass sucks you just don't know that it is the second most important instrument in any style of music. Bass and drums are the rhythm, which in football terms they would bee the linemen. If you listen to music you hear the bass. The bass moves you, it sets the grove.

  • Wooten is an innovative, technical, bluesy, soulful, all in one. Nice job Mr. Wooten.

  • one of the best bass players i ever see.. my father like to play this type of music and now his teaching me and this following message is for everyone that dont like bass (fuck you and your family bass is one of the best instruments ever )victor wooten rocks

  • OMFG IT'S THE CHICKEN BY JACO!! Thumbs up if you noticed that..

  • the bass isn't a backround, unessential instrument, it is vital for filling the gap in the levels of sound. the drums and the guitar and vocals would sound flimsy and hollow without the level filled by the bass. Oh yea and It sounds amazing, larry graham, victor wooten, stanely clarke, marcus miller, all animals.

  • He needs his own bass player!

  • solo is The chicken by jaco :D

  • The Black Jesus !!!

  • Jesus, was that Walter White coming in with the sax?

  • @christianfff nope, Jeff Coffin. He's playing with the DMB now, but has also played with Bela Fleck. This is Jeff Coffin's Mu'Tet.

  • wow man that´s sick! incredible!

just he´s a god of the bass!

  • boring

  • @ericoulthwaite I'm glad you shared your opinion. It is highly valued here.

  • @lovesthebass Good to see Freedom of speech alive and well

  • @ericoulthwaite go listen to scooter then fool what are you doing here?

  • @gogoyoghurt123 heard he was supposd to be good. turns out he's just ok

  • @ericoulthwaite YOUR A FUCKEN IDIOT! HES THE BEST ! U FUKEN RED NECK SON OF A WHORE MOTHER FUCKER COCK SUCKER BITCH

  • @aleyva1 I thinks it's you that's the redneck. Bad language, bad spelling and grammar. Giving out abuse because someone's opinion is different to your own.

  • @ericoulthwaite You're obviously very ignorant as to jazz music and the bass guitar. You're entitled to your own opinion, but at least we all know now that it is coming from someone who obviously isn't relevant to the subject matter. Thanks for stopping by!

  • @kvetonp What are you? Some kind of text psychic?! How could you know anything about me from a few lines on Youtube. I am a bass player who studied jazz at music college and i have a degree in music and recording. I did Grade 8 when i was 17. So i think that qualifies my opinion to subject matter. Didn't say he was rubbish. I said it was boring. Heard all those noodley licks a million times on different instruments by different musician. No fire or originality. Thanks for stopping by?!.....Lame!

  • sounds like a very fat guitar solo

  • that bass got hecka frets!

  • lol, I think you were at the same show that that James Ross guy was at and taped this song as well.

  • everyone who says bass is gay, should start a band in any genre, jazz, rock, metal, punk whatever, every song would sound lame without bass.a bas sis the fucking solid ground of any band its just as important as a rythm guitar or a lead guitar or a drum set.or hink of an orchestra without the k-bass.it would sound so lame. but people who have any little knowledge of music knows this.me as a bass player the whol discussion of "BASS IS GAY AND LAME AND BLA BLA" is just stupid retarded kindergarten talk

  • BASS ftw!

  • Hehehe.

  • meravigliosoooooooooo

  • suck up, just wanna kiss some ass for thumbs up, leave comment when you grow a pair of nuts

  • I love this clip, it is my favorite victor clip. damn he is funky just tends to play too many notes (sometimes) hes all feel though...generally.

  • the screaming is just the sound of victor wooten blowing peoples' minds.

  • That was sick!

  • He's ace!

  • Anyone who doesnt respect the bass knows absolutely nothing about music. No exceptions. The bass is only easy and gay if its played by a gay and lazy bass player! The good ones know how to make it purr like a kitty.

    You rock wooten!

  • you may not be able to hear the bass, but i love it and in my opinion its the best instrument, groove, rhythm and sometimes malodic. i wish i had a loop pedal, because when he started plaing drums like slap... fookin insane and wooten sure shows here that playing fast isn't everything (steve vai eat your heart out).

  • i like how vic goes into playing part of the chicken by jaco pastorius.

  • Agree with most of you guys!! Whover thinks that bass isn't an essential instrument - whether they are into jazz, country, rock, heavy metal...whatever....I challenge you to listen to it without bass and not think there is something MASSIVE missing....BECAUSE THERE WILL BE!!

  • Basslines give the atmoshpere of a song. Respect the bass or die!!!!!

  • It's ridiculous to think that the bass guitar is the easiest instrument to learn, I would say it really depends how rhythmically talented you are since the bass is very much a rhythm instrument, but to play the bass like this is something quite else it requires both rhythmic, technical, and melodic talent =P

  • You are a true professional and a true musician,BeDaMusik. People always compare the bass to the guitar because they are both stringed instruments.Like apples and oranges. The two are completely different.Guitar is melody/harmony and bass is rhythm/beat. You are pretty cool...uh for a guitar player I mean. :P

    ;)

  • @BigHosMan hey thx bro :)

  • I'm a bass guitarist and the lead guitarist in my band is insane! (marshallmandan - check him out!) but he plays the bass like a guitar. If you know anything, bass is centered around rhythm hence awesome slap and pop techniques as well as rhythmical stops and clicks! the bass is it's own awesome instrument just like any other!!!

  • grow up vic....!!!

  • funny dude. but amazing bass player

  • man he doin all dem cool stuff like it's nothin...

  • Yes Sir, Bass is the bridge from Drums to the rest of the instruments. Victor is one of the best Bass Guitarist i've ever heard!!

  • Dear Nkr10,

Shut ur mouth (or don't touch ur keyboard) cuz u have no fucking clue what you're talking about!

  • brutal

  • Is he in a band?

  • Yes, he plays with Bela Fleck & The Flecktones..

  • ive always had respect for bass players. the bass player in the band im in is pretty good for having no lessons and bein as young as he is. Good bass players kick ass. i play guitar fairly well but i would love to know how to play bass equally as good.

  • this is the Guy !!!

  • ОХУЕННО!!

  • First of all, I play bass, guitar, drumset, piano and sax (all saxes) and I wile bass is difficult to play, and is a whole different instrument than the guitar, don't discount guitar players. Anybody can sit there and play the base note of a chord that knows a thing or two about music, but it takes talent to play it well. Just like you claim anyone can play loud, bs buddy. I'm an acoustic player mainly, and I play things that are unusual, yet they sound awesome. Don't diss guitarist buddy.

  • Damn right!! I play Guitar and Bass. and I realy think that playing Guitar is easier than playing Bass. Many Bands need good Bassplayers but there too many Guitarplayers. That's just because everyone says Bass is Gay.

  • @trivos4real

I agree!! I don't play guitar and I find it easier. If you play all the guitar string open and give it any slow rythm you have a song, just play anything and will sound nice since the first time, and if you put distor to that your parents are gonna love you and you female friends will say ohh!! yeahh you rock!! but if you play bass at the same level they will say: omm.. ye.. what a boring faggot lets go with the guitar guy!!

  • @trivos4real

To succed in bass you have to be good!! To succed in guitar you just have to be loud. Of course the guitar is an awesome instrument, I really love it but I also hate when the people say that bass is boring and that nobody can hear the bass.

  • bass is whats up. bass makes a band. Bass and drums are the heart of the band. without it. its overwith

  • @trivos4real agreeed people who think bass is stupid diserves to be casterated

  • @acrock21 bass is one important instrument for music >>

  • @acrock21 or learn to spell, one or the other.

  • @woosailor what are you going on about ?

  • I am not a Bass guitarist (i only play a little), i mostly only play drums and guitar. But, I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE SAY THAT THE BASS IS GAY! i mean seriously it make me furious! people need to learn to respect the bass more. without it, to me it feels as if there is a major gap when i play with the rest of the my band. the Bass rules. All those that dont like bass or any other type of instrument, in my opinion aren't real musicians. Because real musicians Know and will respect all instruments.

  • @BeDaMusik agreed anyone who disrespects a instrument shall burn in hell they all have extremely challenging parts to them people are just stupid and will saywhat they wilt because they feel jealous that they cant produce such music

  • @BeDaMusik :

    it's not only your opinion - it's true! :)

  • @BeDaMusik yeah thats right learn to respect other musicians like a bassist. some says that this is the easiest instrument to learn but try play the bass guitar like victor wooten. we will see if this is gay......

  • @BeDaMusik Damn Straight. Good Comment :)

  • @BeDaMusik

i hate it when people say the bass is gay. i play in 2 bands and when people hear me play they think 'omg he is good'! and say this but next day they say 'you cant play bass for sh**' the bass is a major part of music. it forms the core and sets the tempo which everyone goes at. look at living in the 70's or play that funky music and you will see that bass is important

  • @evilmushroom100 i totally agree with you man

  • @BeDaMusik totally agree man I'm a guitarist too and I think bass may be a little harder than guitar at times

  • @rockerr12595 haha yeh as i have found lol

  • @rockerr12595 haha yeh as i have found

  • @BeDaMusik

BECAUSE WITHOUT A BASS THERE IS NO BAND MUSIC IS FLAT NO TONE NOTHING...

PEOPLE HAVE TO RESPECT EACH OTHER'S INSTRUMENTS AND PLAY HARMONICALLY WITH EACH OTHER OTHERWISE THEIR PLAY SOUNDS LIKE TRASH

I THINK YOU WILL LIKE JOHN ENTWISTLE HE STARTED THE WHOLE BASS REVOLUTION IN THE WHO'S SONGS THERE ARE MORE BASS SOLOS THAN GUITAR SOLOS HERE ARE SOME watch?v=TVl39LBZGMw watch?v=kkKeZ1z8zGk

  • @BeDaMusik true brother I mean you wouldn't ride a car with a good suspension would you?

  • @BeDaMusik

Those who says that knows nothing about music!! nuff said!!

  • @BeDaMusik amen brotha, try playing with out your bassest, its like forgetting your underwear or somthing, its just not right!!

  • @scuutt07 i second that, i do metal vocals, rhythm guitar and when we dont have our bass player the music sounds hollow. and im sure that goes for any genre

  • @BeDaMusik COuldnt agree any more than I already have.

  • Think bass is gay? Listen to a band with a lousy bass player!

  • @BeDaMusik yea i play bass and guitar and bass requires more right hand coordination and for guitar i would say its more left. also kudos to drummers because they make huge additions and i definitely dont think i could drum

  • @BeDaMusik omg same thing here, some people r just retarded,if bass is not the most important instrument at least is one of them cause its everywhere, its needed for every single kind of music, its not gay,its just different n thats what makes it extraordinary!!!!

  • @BeDaMusik Bass is FUN to play, there is just so many different things that can be done, and since bass is so underrated there are more people coming out these days and showing up even their own guitarists. I am a Metalhead, of many forms except the bad stuff, and I love coming back and finding bassists from all sorts of music like Jazz Funk fusion and it just sounds so cool. There are definitely many non metal musicians that inspire me. Thank you Victor Wooten for being one of them.

  • @BeDaMusik uh, who is saying bass is "gay"?

  • @BeDaMusik Amen.

  • @BeDaMusik That's the truth! Bass adds depth and helps keep everybody on the same page. It translates the drums for the guitar. Every band needs a bassist =) I love playing bass a hell of a lot more than plaing guitar that's for sure, and people do need to appreciate us bassist.

  • @BeDaMusik I totally agree with you on respecting all of the instruments. But, may I add, how about respecting gay people and stopping using "gay" as an offence?

  • @tmdp76 If you think that i was having a "dig" at homosexuals, you are mistaken. If you understood the concept of the human language especially English, you would understand that the meanings of a word or many words change over time. Such as gay originally meant to be "happy", then it went to the meaning of being a homosexual. when i said "gay" i was using it in the context of something being "bad", "silly", "stupid" ect.. Im sorry if you took it out of context and/or offended you.

  • your laughing and screams are perfect

  • clearly a bad ass bass guitar, dumbass's

  • its a bass, dumbass.

  • you dont have to be hard on people most people dont recognize the difference between a guitar and a bass guitar... i am a bassist , i suppose you are too?

  • I love his loop pedal chromatic thing. I remember seein him doin that in ottawa once. Cool stuff.

  • Very good!

  • does Victor Wooten in a band ?? with other musician ??

  • bela fleck and the flectones

  • "Bella Fleck and the Flecktones"

  • He used to be in bela fleck and the fleck tones. He recently Joined SMV with Stanley and Marcus.

    He also does solo.

  • Comment removed

  • the first word when i think Bass is... Victor

  • This man is the winner. Nuff said.

  • a solo on the chicken of jaco pastorius!! wow! great victor!!

  • Comment removed

  • eh?

  • I recently played 2 fodera's. They sound and play very good but the prices are rediculous. Not worth it.

You can have a world class MTD for half the price or less.

  • whats his bass model called?

  • its a fodera monarch, if you go to the signature area you can see his "number 1" or just go to the monarch area and see similar models to his.

  • Sound like he almost gonna play the song "the chicken" by jack pastorious (if u wanna hear) or somthing like that

  • Comment removed

  • loved the chicken part!

  • esas fusiones estan muy buenas....

  • what bass is that and how much does it coste?

  • It is a Fodera Monarch deluxe.....

And therefore there are no official prices, because its so rare.....

If you find some tell me, I didn't find any.

  • Just call Fodera and have them build you one. IIRC, the Monarch is around $8500.

  • bass central usually has some in stock or just call the Fodera Shop during business hours a latina lady will answer she can answer all your questions

  • It's victor wooten's bass, and it's priceless :)

  • mm,,i'm not shore,i'm argentinian,i never saw one fodera here.but,i think that there are the most expensive basses.i'm not shore, but,i know that they aren't cheap!;)

  • Comment removed

  • Not the most expensive by a long shot, but not cheap either!

  • why is he so good?

  • Maybe because he had the bass in his hands by the time the dippers had him by his bottom. ;]

  • umm lets see............he jus is lol

  • yeah !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Groovy

  • Very good!!! I loved it!

    Du K_raio!!!

    LuFrank21.

  • loving 'the chicken'

  • you are correct, i do have the right. 'but i will also tell you off about that?' writing something like that in your reply makes me discount your response instantly.

  • that is true but what i was saying is though you have the right but i personally disagree with what you said. its as simple as that my statement was not to try and change your opinion it was simply to state my own.

  • i will respect that statement because all people have the right to express the freedom of speech, but i also will tell you off about that. first off what the fuck do you know about soul victor wooten is practically the Dali Lama of bass when it comes to soul he has written several books on the soul of music that are so true they'll make you shit your pants. and if you just watch this video you can tell that he is just one with the music and enjoying himself with near perfect groove. that's soul

  • you cant touch victor wooten...les claypool even knows victor is the man...

  • lmao i cant believe someone even thought of putting PETE WENTZ in the same sentence as victor wooten...thats just fucking silly.

  • To be honest, that's what you just did :'D

  • ironically, you yourself have done just that.

  • u disgust me PETE WNTS SUCKS HES A EMO FAGGOT!!!

  • hahahaha!!!

  • lol thats like comparing souljaboy to jesus

  • actually if you all have the guts to see it, it's actually pretty good. i'm very surprised pete wentz can play that string of notes.

  • Yeah, in the words of cemedian Ron White, "The next time you have a thought... let it go."

  • Now that's a proper bass guitarist. That's how a bass guitar should be handled.

  • victor wooten rules!!!! hes so groovy!!!!!

  • the chicken!!!!

  • Groove !!!

  • what does he acctually do at 1:48-2:32 ??

  • I think he was looping one note at a time, adding one note at the end each time.

  • oh okay... thats awesome!

  • he was adding chromatic notes to be more specific xD

  • Go...Victor..Go...Victor 1:48-2:32

  • damn ..... i love this guy Victor Wooten is great. One well put together musician

  • oh its Jaco's "The Chicken" at first.

    just a little different though.

I like this one better. No offense to Jaco because i know he's dead and all, and he was definitely one of the greatest,

but Victor is definitely better than he was.

  • Wooten is the best technical bassist by far (with his double thumbing and harmonic runs and slides) but Jaco was a much better composer and bandleader, also i prefer Jaco's tone, timing, and his playing in general. Jaco and Mingus are my favorite on their types of bass because they were both great jazz musicians. Wooten comes in second on the electric though. Sorry for the long comment

  • this video is about Victor Wooten, why are you talking about Jaco and Mingus

  • Why not? I dont understand whats going on youtube.. If the comment is even just slightly negative everyone gives 10 times thumps down and tells him to shut up. I just dont get it.. If you can say only positive things, then why to comment at all?

PS: This doesnt really got anything to do with your comment. Just remembered that thing which has annoyed me for some time and decided to comment here.. :P

  • i was bored, why else would i even post on youtube?

  • do you have a small penis?

  • Why don't you learn English - its spelled GUITARIST, and it is THEY'RE doing - as in the contraction they are. Back to the classroom, young man!

  • Dude its the internet...if your going to bitch out everytime someone has a spelling error lol you seriously have no fucking life.

  • yes, and a band is nothign without a bassit, your fuckin retarded, and if we're not considered guitarists why is it called a bass guitar, and why is the instrument sold int eh guitar section of guitar center, smart ass

  • wow, why don't you learn to complete a sentence before you go off and tell people who is a nothing...

  • yes we're nothing, if bassist are nothign why are there so many of us? why do bands have them? why do they make the instrument, get your facts before you insult someones lifestyle, passion or work, dipshit

  • you have no idea man ...

  • You obviously listen to shitty generic music then.

  • try to listen some songs without the bass guitar! they have no emotion! bass is the mood "teller" or smth. so a band without a bass is incomplete! every band member is equally valuable!

    and this rocks! :]

  • of course no one hear the bassist. in an emo concert. if you're happy in your life jamming as a rhythm guitarist playing nothing but power chords without knowing the difference between the notes of A minor scale and C major scale (it's a trick question i know), i suggest you better run off to the next secondhand serenade show while us people enjoy victor wooten and tetsuo sakurai, deal?

and you don't have the slightest shittiest clue about those two either. you read emopedia.

  • youre a dumbass.

  • Jaco's bass loop solos were called Slang I believe.

  • Jaco Pastorius used to do something similar to this using bass loops.
