I have a question about this monitor, I have it connected to my Dell Studio laptop. I'm a Photographer so color accuracy is important. What laptop to monitor connection would be more suitable in giving me the most accurate sRGB colors? DVI TO DVI? HDMI? Or USB?
@synapzes Hm I see. I am a digital artist and I''m searching for a monitor. Still haven't really decided yet but Asus PA246Q is on top of my list at the moment.
is there that much difference between this and the PA238Q except one is 1080p and the other 1200p? id rather go for the cheaper one but if theres something ground breaking in the newer i will go for that thx in advance for your help
@jummuu nope ive done a lot of research on ips vs tn since and some people who only have ips will say its superior but people with both will tell you the colour difference between modern tn and ips is not what it use to be in fact in my opinion tn is now superior id go for the benq xl2420t the horizontal viewing angles are as good as ips too ips are NOT designed with gaming in mind and are for photography so people think you would get superior pictures in games too nope not really.
If you're interested in creating a *review* of this device, consider following the example set by these guys: (search for "Asus Pro Art 246Q Monitör İncelemesi", as it seems that I can't link directly to a YouTube video in a comment.)
I'm a stupid uniglot American, so I have no idea what they are saying, but their review is far and away the most useful look at the monitor that I've found on the Internet. (They even have a live viewing angles test with a TN monitor!)
It's beauty brings a tear to my eye. Much more expensive than any other monitor I was considering before, but for this quality display at that price, it's really a great deal.
@beautyofsweden Tbh mate you don't see the red line at all. Granted it was a poor design choice, but it doesn't hinder at all.
The new gen Dell monitorr are only 1920x1080 resolution, though Samsung are releasing a new PLS line that you may be interested in. TFTcentral have some good info on them.
The stand is more than stable, the height adjustment is great, and the swivel and pivot work well.
@darksk8crow Thank you, I bought the LG IPS 236V even if it doesnt have pivot Im happy with it. Got myself an HP Envy 17" 2092-eo now so I use that screen mostly. U are on notebookreview?
I have a question if you watch a movie on this with from an HDMI out and 1920 x 1080 resolution being sent over what happens does the monitor letterbox? and can it be used for gaming?
@LocoVenado as they use the same panel they are pretty much the same, asus just readujsted the calibration, there are LOTS of descriptions on how calibrating these two beauties sucks when doing it yourself, so that's a big minus.
Out of the box the colors of the asus seem a bit more accurate especially concerning adobe rgb,
other than that there are the lil extras the asus has and maybe nobody really needs but still are nice if you can have it for the same prize
Looks like I've found my new monitor! Normally I wouldn't buy a monitor over $250 USD, but considering my line of work, this $500 monitor makes a lot of sense. Gamer, Modder, Game Designer, 2D & 3D Artist...yeah, I think this is the monitor for me. EPIC! I love Asus
@IDGODROAR IPS is very much worth the premium. Not only is the colour so much more balance, (contrast usualy not strong). The secret feature is great comfortable on your eyes. IPS tends to be very natural and non straining on the eyes.
That is wrong. The Dell U2410 is H-IPS which is a variant of S-IPS, not e-IPS like Dell u2311h. I've also read the Dell U2410 is also capable of 10-bit color when using a display port, which would match the Asus' monitor capability. Anyway, these numbers don't really mean anything, which is why I am hoping to see a side by side comparison. I wants what the EYE wants.
Why does the camera man look at random stuff while you're showing us stuff. IE - You show where the DVI ports are, before you even show what all the slots are - he's already off looking at something else, interrupting you and making you talk about whatever he feels like pointing at. WTF
its nice that you are good at unboxing and telling alot about the products but i just got a question about cameramen :) what pc specs dos he have a high end mean game machine or a mac or someting like your rig. or did you already make a vid about his rig :D ?
@hardbeatzmusic Did you even watch the video? Or you just looked to see that it wasn't LED so you could say your little comment? If you watched this video you would realize this is a beast of a monitor. I mean OH MA GOD U R SO RITE!!!1
I have the acer s273hl. It only has the 16:9 aspect ratio. CRAP! its a great monitor, but I am now leaning toward this one. Only thing I wish is they had a model bigger than 24". So I thing I'll stick with my acer for now. However, I would personally from what I have seen on this asus proart, I would totally give it 4 stars. Great review Linus!

As per Asus' website, the panel has a 6ms response time. That is impressive for an IPS panel. This for gaming? I say WHY NOT. Most TN panels come in at 5ms. That's just my take on it though, I could be wrong.
Did this just come out? i just see this on asus website today and its supposed to be the best for photo editing and stuff as well as gaming... dont know if its worth the extra $ though u do get what u pay for so many ill give it a go
This is an awesome monitor. Over kill for my needs. I would just like a 24" with Pic-n-Pic, Hdmi, Dvi with 1920x1200, anyone got any a good hands-on suggestions?
my hp lp2475 looks exactly like this monitor lol....
and yes ips monitor do look better after calibration than a tn monitor... way better but out of the box an ips and a tn looks pretty much the same. i have a ips and a tn monitor side by side
@WickedGr Yes I am aware of that, I was just asking about this particular monitor. Producent declares 6ms so that would seem to be pretty good, but yes, IPS are not that good for gaming in general so that's why I wonder.
@jfrydom quite fair point there but! You didn't test this particular one so you don't know for sure. Actually maybe this one can be quite good compromise between let's say graphic or web design & occasional gaming.
At 500 without taxes, and from what i understand its not even 3D, for a 24' monitor its retarded. I woul def. not recommend this monitor. I know you asked Linus but i mean...dont buy this for gaming. Nowadays, the best for gaming is a 3D-capable monitor, around 30', with a 2560x1600 resolution. Those are pretty rare as of now, but those are the best.
@xaero212 no because IPS monitors have a slow refresh rate and are for workstations, professional graphic design, photoshopping etc. TFT and TN are still the best for gaming because of the higher refresh rate! These monitors are like workstation vs gaming graphics cards! the workstation IPS monitor is built for better color reproduction and stability while gaming TFT and TN monitors are built for speed!
@blowupuate13 Actually, for a gaming monitor you usually want a response time of 5ms or less, and this monitor has a response time of 6ms, so it probably wouldn't be bad for gaming. I was actually pretty surprised to see that.
I have a Dell Ultrasharp which is an e-IPS monitor and I game on it all the time. It's my primary monitor and I use it for everything from watching movies to playing games.
There used to be a time when using IPS panels for anything other than photo work would be idiotic. But with the more "pro-sumer" oriented versions of IPS like e-IPS or P-IPS (as opposed to H-IPS which still has very bad response times) it's really hard NOT to recommend them for everyday use.
1920x1200 16:10 ratio, finally, I am sick of the 1080p standard these days in monitors, it is ok fot TVs, but monitors can (and for me must) do more than 1080 vertical pixels. I mean, if back in the day 1600x1200 was the way to go, why upgrade and have less vertical pixels? Aniway, it is just the way I think, don't take me serious if you dont want to.

I really like this but why did ASUS designer put a ugly discracting tomato-line on the frame?? It really doesnt fit IMHO.
Really curious about how this will stand against LGs - IP pivot IPS and when the new Dell monitors (the new gen after U2311 and U2410) releases.
Do you think the stand is stable enough and the luminance/brightness is enough (ca 400) on ASUS PA246Q. Also any backlight in darkroom on darkscreen?
Love to get your honest opinion.
Thanks

@xaero212 It's likely good enough for gaming, but since it's not designed for gaming, you wont get a good value for it price.

@Vortex1988 yeah but mine has a 2ms response time!

@xaero212
