39" on body builders because they train for hyper trophy rather than strength. Hyper trophy is hyper enlargement of the muscles from higher reps. For olympic power lifters, there are 300 mass pounds who gets 44 inch rvj. I told you, basketball isn't anywhere near explosive than lifting. Body builders don't even uselow weight anymore. They do heavier maxes at 12 - 20 reps
Oh I just notice that! Thanks for the kind comment w8amonth! AWESOME. The kid doesn't know anything about strength and athletics. I highly doubt that this nigger actually jumps higher than me. I got a nigger at school who jumps lowest. BTW AC barch jump higher than this nigger. To make it clear, A 55 inches running vertical exist. He's white.
You're disrespecting WomenAreRamen. Try to be racist while the dude is explaining basic proven science. Genetics is disputed and exploded in the realm of athletics. You're ignorance! STFU!

You see, even a regular nobody attains vertical of 50 inches. Again AC squat dr definitely trained for 10 years.
Yes, 3 times body weight squat requires getting bigger and gaining muscle over the years of increasing your maximum hold squat. Even beginners that are light only squat 1.7 times own weight. You see, the connection here is to try to increase your strength which is also the amount of force generated per 1 pound of body weight. If you could generate 3 pounds of force per pound of your weight, you could already squat 3 times your own body weight.
Not at all. The whole measuring of vertical leap began way way back when athletics and power lifting was formed. Lifting heavy is the solution for all the performance you need.
Lifting weights is the solution and ONLY the reason why great athletes became great leapers as well. If you don't believe me, think of jumping as simply putting lots of force on the ground relative to your body weight. Although lifting heavy requires you to get bigger and heavier, the strength that you get out weights the overall force you generate. A 3 times body weight squat gets you over 50 - 51 inches running vertical.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
this is true with caucasians, i agree. But with African people there are God given physical talents that surpasses the norm. Thanx Veoshock. Great video. Of course I had to watch the first four minutes with the sound turned down, but it was great otherwise. David Thompson was the most underrated college player of all time.
Me and a friend from Indiana went in a sporting goods store in Raleigh near NC State. There was a photograph of David Thompson during a game with his elbows ABOVE the rim. My friend looked at it and simply asked "Is that real?".
Yeah right you're exaggerating.David Thompson easily has one of the highest vertical leaps in the NBA but i've never seen a player get that high not even Lebron and no one get's up higher than him.Now for my proof go youtube Lebron dunks of Barbosa or Lebron dunks of Bulls. David Thompson can't get that high.
what u fail to realise is labron is 6ft 8 in david was 6 ft 6 in so david was jumping higher than labron everytime he went up and i have seen videos of thompson touching the top of the backboard...
You're lying plain and simple ! Why? I don't know but please man stop telling lies. Where are these mysterious videos that only you have seen? If he did it you don't tihnk somebody on this planet of 6 billion people would've posted it on youtube by now? that would be an amazing sight but no one has ever saw it but you? Whatever you can live in your fanasy world. David Thompson couldn't touch the top of the backboard plain and simple!Deal with it!
No its not exaggeration. There are video clips of him with his elbow above the rim, you should have seen it in this video already. Lebron's elbow gets beyond the rim. Take a look at the videos.
r u serrious! think leap to hight ratio...lebron is 6 ft 8 david thompson is 6 ft 2 in ur talking about a true point gaurd vrs. a sf/pf type body! and yes he could touch the top of the backboard
Um wtf are you saying. Look up Team Flight Brothers and youll see guys shorter than David Thompson getting their heads and elbows above the rim. Your hand obviously have to be up to do this. And when your hands are up your elbows are above your head and alot of people get their head above so their elbows will be obviously above. David Thompson is 6'4 and has a 48 inch vertical so he will be getting up to 10'4 just jumping up so his forehead is above the rim.
david thompson was the best college player ever my dad went to nc state from 1983 to 1986 so he was a freshman when they won the championship in 1983 that year it was a cinderella story.but he could put 4 quarters on the top of a backboard and put a dollar in his hand and get change for a dollar from the top of a backboard.
I got to meet him today in school. He was an amazing athlete. He talked about his life situations and how he put Jesus Christ in his heart. He is now my idol. He told us that drugs and alcohol are not the answer when you become a professional. I think he touched a lot of our fall sports players.
Arguably, the best player in NCAA hoops history --best I've seen in about 40 years, anyway.
Had a great ABA/NBA career until problems ensued. It's a shame cause he was a great guy by all indications. Ah, what might have been?! This guy could not only leap out of the building, but was a phenomenal basketball player.
a guy that played ball at my school's dad played in college against Thompson and guarded him, and told me that Thompson took a jump shot over him..and Thompson's knees were even with his head..
Micheal Jordan idolized david growing up and had planned on going to ncstate instead of unc at one time, if not for thompsons drug addiction he likely would have been the original mj and kinda was anyways. Greateas player in college basketball history and he dropped like 81 points un pro game i think.
Appreciate it, funny that i heard that on radio today, he dropped 73 and gervin dropped 63 on last game of season as they were fighting for the scoring title and gervin beat him out by .1 lol. Yeah shame he got cuaght up while cocaine. I was thinking the number of points kobe got i believe when he passed thompson for 2nd all time points in a game. Ever see when he fell over phil spence during college game? dude could fly! Spence was my teacher in 12th grade n said he thought he killed david lol!
The role model of Michael Jordan.

at 2:58 his elbow is above the rim...
dogpound19 2 years ago
no its his afro thats above the rim
neuregel 2 years ago
His tricep is about the rim lol. Thompson states he worked his legs like football players which gave him is power to fly like he did.

the leap at :20-:23 to me is the ultimate display, wish he's brought the Nuggets a championship,he's only one man,one player.
Skywalker, Lucas must have taken his chracter's name from all those who hailed DT and named him skywalker

Thanx Veoshock. Great video. Of course I had to watch the first four minutes with the sound turned down, but it was great otherwise. David Thompson was the most underrated college player of all time.
dave4248 2 years ago
Me and a friend from Indiana went in a sporting goods store in Raleigh near NC State. There was a photograph of David Thompson during a game with his elbows ABOVE the rim. My friend looked at it and simply asked "Is that real?".
davidw992000 2 years ago 2
Yeah right you're exaggerating.David Thompson easily has one of the highest vertical leaps in the NBA but i've never seen a player get that high not even Lebron and no one get's up higher than him.Now for my proof go youtube Lebron dunks of Barbosa or Lebron dunks of Bulls. David Thompson can't get that high.

what u fail to realise is labron is 6ft 8 in david was 6 ft 6 in so david was jumping higher than labron everytime he went up and i have seen videos of thompson touching the top of the backboard...
dogpound19 2 years ago
Actually, I could be wrong, but as I remember Skywalker Thompson was more D-Wade size, about 6'3-6'4. An absolutely incredible jumper
kahirij 2 years ago
david was actually 6ft 2. You gave him 4 extra inches which he would love lol
rjam1974 2 years ago
my bad...david was 6 ft 2!
dogpound19 2 years ago
You're lying plain and simple ! Why? I don't know but please man stop telling lies. Where are these mysterious videos that only you have seen? If he did it you don't tihnk somebody on this planet of 6 billion people would've posted it on youtube by now? that would be an amazing sight but no one has ever saw it but you? Whatever you can live in your fanasy world. David Thompson couldn't touch the top of the backboard plain and simple!Deal with it!
chiladin 2 years ago
No its not exaggeration. There are video clips of him with his elbow above the rim, you should have seen it in this video already. Lebron's elbow gets beyond the rim. Take a look at the videos.
rjam1974 2 years ago
r u serrious! think leap to hight ratio...lebron is 6 ft 8 david thompson is 6 ft 2 in ur talking about a true point gaurd vrs. a sf/pf type body! and yes he could touch the top of the backboard
dogpound19 2 years ago

SnoreBear44 3 years ago
a guy that played ball at my school's dad played in college against Thompson and guarded him, and told me that Thompson took a jump shot over him..and Thompson's knees were even with his head..

Micheal Jordan idolized david growing up and had planned on going to ncstate instead of unc at one time, if not for thompsons drug addiction he likely would have been the original mj and kinda was anyways. Greateas player in college basketball history and he dropped like 81 points un pro game i think.
justbecuz41 3 years ago 2
81 is close, he dropped 73 pimpin, but I didn't know he was on a drug addiction, thanks for informing me
tbspatriot 3 years ago
Appreciate it, funny that i heard that on radio today, he dropped 73 and gervin dropped 63 on last game of season as they were fighting for the scoring title and gervin beat him out by .1 lol. Yeah shame he got cuaght up while cocaine. I was thinking the number of points kobe got i believe when he passed thompson for 2nd all time points in a game. Ever see when he fell over phil spence during college game? dude could fly! Spence was my teacher in 12th grade n said he thought he killed david lol!
justbecuz41 3 years ago
He dropped 79pts. I saw somewhere he dropped 76. But it was over 70pts he dropped in pro.

Does David Thompson have a son named after him who looks just like him and is an effeminate musician?

Pause at 6:22 and **** yourself.
That's as high as Lebron gets and he's like
6'8! DT was 6'4 and I seriously doubt his arms were as long as Lebrons.

i dunno man, his arms are REALLY long!!!

I heard from dad telling me as a kid that David Thompson could flip a quarter on top of the backboard and go get it.
