  • @KYfishguy that's the two little fishes bio plastic media. It's supposed to tumble alot to build up bacteria that eat the phosphate.

  • the media is suppose to barely tumble - this might be a little too fast but isnt terrible - heavy tumbling just floods the tank with particles and does more dmg than good - corals do not like to have this media touch them

  • Thought the media was supoosed to appear to be dancing?

  • OMG you are so wrong. They Flow is way way to fast. Read the instructions .

any kind of tumbling is badd..

  • this flow is too slow, but this media is tricky to find a good spot. A tad more, make it boil or your grind your media, thus polluting the tank unnecessarily.

  • phosban is tricky because if the granuals rub it releases toxic material into tank.the top half inch should boil like water.if the granuals are rubbing then they are grinding themselves into a fine dust. in my opinion this should be turned up just a hair

  • Thanks for this. I just ordered my reactor and was wondering how it should look in action.

  • No it looks like that usually. Purigen is white when you first buy it I think

  • What size pump did you use?

Is this a Kent, Phosban, diy?

I'm returning my Kent Phosreactor . . . crappy construction! Leaks out the top 90 due to poor gluing by the manufacturer.

Also the tubes don't line up easily.

  • really i got a ken, but it doesnt seem to flow like this one, but i also have carbon media in it

  • Isn't phosban white when you buy it?
