I'm American and would have loved to see it succeed; but it was destined to fail. The employees were former crew members of Haas CNC Racing, which was a backmarker team in NASCAR. If they couldn't get that right, there was no way to get an F1 car right.

Why all the comments about the manufacture of specific parts in the video. The CNC machines and vacuum autoclave process is used around the world at any manufacturing facility. Continuous manufacture of parts using numerical controllers or PC can assure accurate machined components for any mechanical device. A typical controller software development flow to assure part reliability at the machine can actually be made by guys wearing short pants. The music is OK, but the Stones I would like.

Ferrari,Mc Laren,Red Bull,Mercedes..etc put millions in 1 car,they work months on it,with special technology and thats why they are the best at it,because they actually spend time on the car and the driver! but these college boys think because they are Americans they can build one F1 car in a warehouse in 1 day! and even if they got in,they can never beat European car engineering! and thats not only for F1 cars,for every car! nice try;)

I think NASA should start an F1 team. What does it cost? $100 million is pocket change for NASA and they know their aerodynamics. They've reached the moon, but can they reach Monaco?
@slungbungdungclung Well the aerodynamics for a space shuttle is a lot different from the aerodynamics for a racing car. But the hardest thing to calculate is how the car and the different tyre compounds work together, and NASA have no experience with that. It's a totally different job, but they would surely have the money to make it work out :)

To USF1 fans yes it's hard to hear that USF1 will not race this year. They will be on the grid next year 2011. just to let you know even prodrive back 2 years ago was locked out of a chance to race. they even tryed to get back in but was turnd down. The Formula 1 business is hard to get into and many teams want in the sport that are turned away. 2011 F1 season might have 14-18 teams maybe not sure. with the budget cap coming down to 40 million in 2011 alot more teams than in the past will enter

1.most of the technology in Formula 1 comes from the United States. 2.The teams had sponsors onboard and others were to follow. due to an employee on the team had leaked info about the team, Is the reason why sponsors backed off.employee's who hurts a team is not a team player. Drivers who were chosen did not deliver funds when told to do so like lopez.The funds was there from youtube and other investors. thats why the owners had been working 24/7 to bring in other new sponsors the past year.

When Locstein read the story on the flight about an employee on the team. In fact that employee was given money for the story by the media because not getting paid by usf1 was part of the story.The USF1 team had plans to pay there employees extra money for there hard work and back pay.
@shi01 As far as the lack of progress to the car. when back in dec. 09 the team was well ahead of plan even with some hurdles the team had to over come. If you read about when the team had to wait on the FIA for the paperwork and to be entered. the building had to be paid for and stocked before the car build. This is alot for any formula 1 team. Starting from scrach is not easy to do.For any F1 owner in the F1 business is alot of work and stress that comes with the job.

Campos/HRT was realy close, but they had also some financial difficulties. Just US F1 failed. And the conditions were for all new teams the same. So why they failed where all other newbies made it. And they not just failed a bit. They have no car at all, just a few parts.
@shi01 LOTUS and VIRGIN had enter the bid for F1 late jan. press release early feb. The week after that was campos entered a bid as well. 2 weeks after Campos was USF1. Lotus, Virgin, Campos got there entery forms from late march to early april. Usf1 did not recive there entry forms till late june mid july. About around the same time the USF1 team bought there building. The 2 x USF1 cars are 71.3% done in mid feb 2010 with no wings,no engine cover and some wireing.
@toweronepower Do your homework and research. Most of Formula 1 Technology on the race cars is from the United States. carbon fiber was invented back in 1958 by an american inventer. CAD/CAM was invented by another american in 1961. The Formula 1 stering wheel was invented by a british inventer in 1991. I can go on and on about the Formula 1 Technology. There is great information on formula 1 technology. There are even arcrives on formula 1 technoglogy. Like i said do your homework.

If this is true why do most American cars handle so badly and why are there so many American cars with huge 4 or 5 litre engines which manage to extact less BHP from the engine than so many 2.0 litre European counterparts?
@toweronepower Formula 1 dose not use 2.0 they use 2.4 liter with a aluminum 90 degree V8 engine block with a steel crank. as for 4 to 5 liter engines are used in american street cars and some gt race cars like the corvette. In fact americans were the first to make a electric car know as the EV1. american cars do have street cars that are 1.4,1.8, 2.0 liters.
@sharp914 I think you missunderstand a bit the word Formula 1 Technology from the USA. The question is, "where is it produced today". Not "where was it invented first". As an example, the big CAD programms, like CATIA and UGS NX are all in european hands. the steeringwheels are made by the teams itself. the standard ECU came from Mclaren-Electronics in England. The tyres are Japanese until the end of the season and many teams using Brakesystems from Brembo, which coming from Italy.
@shi01 Catia was developed by a french company that was bought by IBM an american company. UGS NX was developed by an american company known as united computing for siemens ag. cad-cdf-cam- and so on made by. solidworks- usa
@sharp914 And Catia was developed by Dassault, which is one of the maincontractor for the french airforce (Mirage Fighterjets). 1981 Dassault-Systems made a Publishingcontract with IBM, but IBM never bought them. IBM have just the rights to publish and give support for Catia in some Countries, but have nothing to do with the development.
@sharp914 sorry, but Mclaren really isn't a german company. They never was and probably never will be. They are in Woking/England. The ECU is build by Mclaren-Electronics, which is a subcompany from the Mclaren-racingteam which is also not a german team. Yeah the main programming was made by Microsoft, but it needs also some special adjustments for the different Engines, which will be made by Mclaren.

Why all the comments about the manufacture of specific parts in the video. The CNC machines and vacuum autoclave process is used around the world at any manufacturing facility. Continuous manufacture of parts using numerical controllers or PC can assure accurate machined components for any mechanical device. The greatest Joke ever in formula one history. Whatever parts they were working at in this movie, it had nothing to do with a Grand Prix car. The autoclave as shown in this clip was way too small to fit a complete underbody. USF1 was the "captain of Köpenick" of motor racing.

@slungbungdungclung Well the aerodynamics for a space shuttle is a lot different from the aerodynamics for a racing car. But the hardest thing to calculate is how the car and the different tyre compounds work together, and NASA have no experience with that. It's a totally different job, but they would surely have the money to make it work out :)

Would I be right in saying The majority of the most played/watched worldwide sports Americans don't seem to like? Except there own. Soccer, F1, Cricket, Rugby. Maybe its just because they are so closely related to sports there already love such as Nascar (crap compared to F1 but) Baseball, American Football. To USF1 fans yes it's hard to hear that USF1 will not race this year. They will be on the grid next year 2011. just to let you know even prodrive back 2 years ago was locked out of a chance to race. they even tryed to get back in but was turnd down. The Formula 1 business is hard to get into and many teams want in the sport that are turned away. 2011 F1 season might have 14-18 teams maybe not sure. with the budget cap coming down to 40 million in 2011 alot more teams than in the past will enter

1.most of the technology in Formula 1 comes from the United States. 2.The teams had sponsors onboard and others were to follow. due to an employee on the team had leaked info about the team, Is the reason why sponsors backed off.employee's who hurts a team is not a team player. Drivers who were chosen did not deliver funds when told to do so like lopez.The funds was there from youtube and other investors. thats why the owners had been working 24/7 to bring in other new sponsors the past year.

Because, I see no other reason, why some sponsors would backing of there payment. Anderson sad in an Interview, that they lost 2 weeks, caused by the lost of a big sponsor. So when they where still on timeplan, until this lost, the car had have still be finisched in time. but they didn't. They didn't finished even one monoquoce for the crashtest

When Locstein read the story on the flight about an employee on the team. In fact that employee was given money for the story by the media because not getting paid by usf1 was part of the story.The USF1 team had plans to pay there employees extra money for there hard work and back pay.

@shi01 As far as the lack of progress to the car. when back in dec. 09 the team was well ahead of plan even with some hurdles the team had to over come. If you read about when the team had to wait on the FIA for the paperwork and to be entered. the building had to be paid for and stocked before the car build. This is alot for any formula 1 team. Starting from scrach is not easy to do.For any F1 owner in the F1 business is alot of work and stress that comes with the job.

@sharp914 Yeah, thats what Anderson in the Interviews said, but sorry i don't believe that. From the 4 new teams, Lotus and Virgin made it easily in time. They even made some testdrives. Campos/HRT was realy close, but they had also some financial difficulties. Just US F1 failed. And the conditions were for all new teams the same. So why they failed where all other newbies made it. And they not just failed a bit. They have no car at all, just a few parts.

@shi01 LOTUS and VIRGIN had enter the bid for F1 late jan. press release early feb. The week after that was campos entered a bid as well. 2 weeks after Campos was USF1. Lotus, Virgin, Campos got there entery forms from late march to early april. Usf1 did not recive there entry forms till late june mid july. About around the same time the USF1 team bought there building. The 2 x USF1 cars are 71.3% done in mid feb 2010 with no wings,no engine cover and some wireing.

CAD/CAM was invented by another american in 1961. The Formula 1 stering wheel was invented by a british inventer in 1991. I can go on and on about the Formula 1 Technology. There is great information on formula 1 technology. There are even arcrives on formula 1 technoglogy. Like i said do your homework.

carbon fibre lol thats not exactly anything to do with the machanics of the car really. All the stuff thats on modern cars these days like ABS and STM came from F1 and rally teams in europe. You said you could go on and on with ur examples so please do.

@toweronepower ABS came from an american company Chrysler and bendix 1971. The idea came froma frenchmen in 1929 used in airplanes.

If this is true why do most American cars handle so badly and why are there so many American cars with huge 4 or 5 litre engines which manage to extact less BHP from the engine than so many 2.0 litre European counterparts?

@toweronepower Formula 1 dose not use 2.0 they use 2.4 liter with a aluminum 90 degree V8 engine block with a steel crank. as for 4 to 5 liter engines are used in american street cars and some gt race cars like the corvette. In fact americans were the first to make a electric car know as the EV1. american cars do have street cars that are 1.4,1.8, 2.0 liters.

@sharp914 I think you missunderstand a bit the word Formula 1 Technology from the USA. The question is, "where is it produced today". Not "where was it invented first". As an example, the big CAD programms, like CATIA and UGS NX are all in european hands. the steeringwheels are made by the teams itself. the standard ECU came from Mclaren-Electronics in England. The tyres are Japanese until the end of the season and many teams using Brakesystems from Brembo, which coming from Italy.

@shi01 Catia was developed by a french company that was bought by IBM an american company. UGS NX was developed by an american company known as united computing for siemens ag. cad-cdf-cam- and so on made by. solidworks- usa

@sharp914 And Catia was developed by Dassault, which is one of the maincontractor for the french airforce (Mirage Fighterjets). 1981 Dassault-Systems made a Publishingcontract with IBM, but IBM never bought them. IBM have just the rights to publish and give support for Catia in some Countries, but have nothing to do with the development.

@sharp914 sorry, but Mclaren really isn't a german company. They never was and probably never will be. They are in Woking/England. The ECU is build by Mclaren-Electronics, which is a subcompany from the Mclaren-racingteam which is also not a german team. Yeah the main programming was made by Microsoft, but it needs also some special adjustments for the different Engines, which will be made by Mclaren.
