this review sucks, there was almost nothing on online ability

This is not a really great gadget, got one today but could not play anything (audio or video for more than 3 min). I had FreeAgent Go external HDD using it with FAT+ (Free Agent Theater +) caused reboot of device after 3 to 5 mins continuously and always !! Strange how can Seagate let out these kind of device !!!

Also checked for this issue in seagate, suprised it was part of seagate forum many had this issue but no clear solution found in one place. Gave back my device to retail seller..

Wish people who review these media players would show how the UI handles audio files. It's easy to go through a list of movies, but how do you navigate through thousands of audio files.

@texasraised214 MKV is a damn good video container, though everything boils down to a form of MPEG and really the main using point of MKV is... well, it's bendability and load of features. It is currently the most popular container for anime subbing groups because it has easy-to-use chapter creation, subtitles insertion (aka soft-sub) and x/h.264 support. just google 'mkv' and you should get a 'matroska.org' site.

Uh, I have an HDMI out of my video card, so when I want to watch stuff on my 40 inch 1080p flat screen, I just plug the computer directly in. No need for a separate interface.

Not if u cant get ur PC wired... ie in my case PS3 doesnt read certain formats nor my NTSC formatted HDD.. and.. using Tversity or PMS is too slow with a wireless PC.

@daspand that is true the only way I could see using ur PS3 would be to partition out a FAT32 segment on ur HDD I don't kno why sony decided to use FAT32 instead of NTSC

new ps3 models cant do linux anymore. but they still got a good browser better then the wiis. can handle abought any video format. and well games. i say if your not a gamer or ps3 fan this would be a good alt for a medacenter. 360 can do video as well no browser. and if cost is a factor find a old orignal xbox and install xxbmc on it.

if you have a HDMI input or a DVI input, then you can play HD content, better to look your model up in google and see if its a 720p or 720i, 1080i, or 1080p

i have a HDMI hooked to my ps3 and when i set it up it detected the resolution that it had and it showed 1080p but i'm not sure that is the resolution of the screen it may the the res. or the game that the console will play, but i can't find what model it is because it says a lot of models on the manual and it doesn't say just one big one.

then you have a HDMI input, its a HDTV, but you should see the Brand in the front of the TV loool, and you may look in the users manual for the highst resltion supported

The WD TV Live does almost the same and the interface is much simpler and it gives you 2 USB inputs for external hard drive media from other companies and the best thing you can connect a flash drive on this machine. Seagate is good but I will like the WD TV Live for my home media.
