My GOD this would make such a good movie! Picture this, Multiple aerial shots of London bearing down on the Shield-Wall with the soundtrack to Inception as backround music.
@TheFreemanization Peter Jackson has done a pretty good job of staying true to stories in the past. His adaptations of The Lord of the Rings are very good. He may cut things out or change lines characters have, but the spirit of the story and individual characters are still the same.
I guess I should really read these books....the only Mortal Engines book I know about is by Stanislaw Lem....this video could have really used my music tho'. Find me at facebook or reverbnation!
I LOVE HESTER SHAW!! She's so badass and so adorable of how much she loves Tom. *Sigh* I'm reading Predator's Gold, and I feel so sorry for her, she thought that Tom no longer cared about her and she ended up sending Arkangel on the path of Anchorage.
I've only read the first book and I think it would be a great computer game if you played as a city! Like chasing towns around to eat them, a bit like in cosmic crush.
HELLO. Please listen. Too all those that loved Mortal engines. For those that dont know and are new too this book, and the old ones .
philip reeve is going to produce several more books in the series. For those that have not read it.... "Fever crumb is the newest book in the mortal engine series to have been produced.
Also another book shall be out soon
Its called "The web of air and is going to be on the market in 19 days
I loved this series so much, I made mini cities out of Lego, constructed a Shrike out of Bionicle parts (RIP 2001-2010), and made about 5 airships, with Hester, Tom, Valentine and (my favourite) Nimrod Beauregard Pennyroyal.
But you're not alone. I knew someone from London, and he was all like "Nooooooo!" (Think Darth Vader from end of Star Wars Episode III) when London blew up at the end of the first book.
I didn't know there was going to be movies - the books are VERY cinematic and play in your mind like films I thought. Wonderful, superb stories - I like 'Predator's Gold' best, and hope they keep to the books, and not mess it up like they did with 'Northern Lights'
When the Movie comes out they will most probably have a game based on it come out as well. Games based on movies usually have negative reviews, but if it's Mortal Engines then count me in!
I've read Predator's Gold five times, Infernal Devices six times, A Darkling Plain seven times and the first book, Mortal Engines, 25 times. I'm reading Mortal Engines for the 26:th time now.
I'm having great hope for the movie, if and when it comes out. The only problem is that when they make a movie out of a book they usually end up changing the story a bit. I'm hoping for it to be exactly as the books. Hopefully Jackson will do this good!
Although I love the books I think if they were gonna make a good film out of it they'd have to change some parts of the book for practical reasons and to keep and adrenalin flow. That's one of the problems I have with the Harry Potter film (a fair comparison I feel), they're too much like the books and the books don't read like films.
Please name the three most needed changes and I might change my mind. However, even htought I myself don't like Harry Potter, it got good critique by newspapers and such.
@TheFhux - Cor just think of all the other books you could have read as well.... D'ya think Hester Shaw might not get her face hacked off if you kept reading it?
Peter Jackson is working on Mortal Engines now, and for what I've heard, their working on the first book; so hopefully no combining.
There was no reason to combine them whatsoever. The stories were already complete by themselves, and "A Darkling Plain" was 550 pages long.
Deborah Forte and the Scholastic Media Foundation planned to make it a family movie, even though Mortal Engines isn't a family book. I hope they're not involved anymore.
Peter Jackson and WETA doing Mortal Engines! Good!
These are probably the best books I've read. I always find it a shame that I can't read them again because I only ever seem to be able to read a book one.
And you're right - they should make a film, and if it was good, I'd watch it over and over again!
This is my favortite Steampunk series and the film would be epic! They should recruit George Lucas for his experience with models that must be used for the cities, and have Herr Reeve there as a consultent.
Just finished reading A Darkling Plain and loved every page of it. The ending was awesome! I wish there were more fanart or fanfiction about the Mortal Engines quartet...
@tomb1272 Naaw, the setup with Shrike telling the story of the traction age to the group of villagers who think that it's only a fairy tale helps the story come full circle.
a question - at 1:14 what is that weird floating thing just above the 'A'. It looks like a freaky floating african mask - but that can't be right. CAN IT?
can i just say i am totally in love with tom and will die if they screw up this film. i don't want it to be a film but i do. does that make sense?
the guys who did golden compass did a bad job - its supposed to be a dark book but in the film its all happy i mean what? but i guess it was well filmed and good acting...
p.s how the hell will they do Hester? they're gonna need really good make up artists for that!
They should make four! They screwed up Eragon (which is less pages than 2 traction books), so how r they going to make a movie with MORE pages in the books?
I have nearly finished reading the first book to this. And I have to say, I am really enjoying it! I'm looking forward to the other three. They are brilliant! I love the characters too.
WHAT!? DAMNIT! stupid americans, how are ya meant to fit that much stuff into one film without mutilating the entire plot like they did in golden compass. grrrr

If I could talk any good I would talk about these books all day.
