  • Oh hey! Have you heard the talk about - fast abs magic (should be on google have a look)? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate got really defined 6 pack abs and lost a truck load of of weight with it.

  • Thanks so much Steve, you're really helpful..

  • @xxxnicolxxx You're welcome!

  • @BodyPerformanceTV I hope i'm not bombarding you too many questions on one go Steve, just few simple questions with a yes/no reply will do! 1. Can you out work your diet once you reach your desired weight? 2. Do you always drink a high sugar drink after an intensive workout? or just once per week to replace glycogen for the week? (Sorry for asking this again!) Thanks in advance!!

  • @xxxnicolxxx Once you reach your weight if your continue to workout you can be much more flexible with your eating. I usually have a small glass of Gatorade after my workouts BUT I workout VERY hard and 5 days in a row plus I'm not trying to lose weight.

  • Hi Steve! I got your site from ju-jitsu 101. I'm 51 years old and i do mostly olympic style lifting. Could you give me an example of intensity type of workout. Thanks

  • @superfootdan I answered your question on my 4-26-10 BlogTalkRadio show. Go to BlogTalkRadio and search Steve Turano. The show can also be downloaded from iTunes. The most recent shows can also be heard on my website home page (at the bottom) once it uploads. Tell a friend!

  • Steve, what do you mean with intensity, does it mean more weight when doing weight lifting??

  • @checkmatte Or more reps, set, or exercises. Just putting out more effort!

  • steve i have a question,, about 7 months ago i was in the best shape of my life 6ft tall 190lbs and benching 315 and repping 225 12 times for sets of 3,, I was eating clean and running 5 miles every other day,,i took 6 months off because i got busy with work and school, i just recently started training again and im not even close to as strong as i was, I have taken long breaks off from weight training before in the past and didn't have this problem of coming back so weak? any suggestions

  • I'm lifting my beer with intensity.

  • LOL !

  • No.

  • Btw, I commented on your other video, but I forgot to ask, when you work on a certain part of the body, say dumbbell lifts on your arms, does that wear down the fat on the arms? And thanks for helping all us viewers!!!

  • Thank you and you're welcome!

  • this was so very clear! thanks so much for posting this video

  • This is to kaseyakira. What he is talking about is reversing the effects of aging. As you get older if you don,t exercise your muscles learn that they don,t need much fat or calories because they have no reason to use fat or calories. But when you exercise your muscles re learn that they need calories and fat for energy so the muscles basically reprogram. So yes the biochemistry of your body does change with exercise.

  • The guys diesel as hell, and he ain't here to sell anything, he's giving advice...he's not Dr. Steve, and you shouldn't look at him as such...he's a guy who oboviously cares about his body, and cares about yours enough to want to help you accomplish whatever weight loss/weight gain goal you may have...

accept it be grateful, or don't listen

  • but how, do u workout with intensity??

  • heavy weights

  • LIAR!! you ARE trying to turn me into a muscle bound beach guy!! Mwahahahahahaha!!

  • Have you even studied human biology? No i'm not talking about biology you learnt when you was 12 years old!! How do you think people can lift heavier weights or run faster and longer! You feel dumbER after hearing it? So i guess we agree that you must have been dumb in the first place.. You REALLY need to get your facts right

  • Ok.. 1 video where he mentions older folks and suddenly that means he refers to everybody as if they were over "fourty"? Get a life you douchebag. Oh and learn how to spell "forty".

  • lololololol

  • Ok...the whole thing about a muscular guy may/may not burn as many calories as an average Joe is absolutely bogus. The speaker in the video is very knowledgeable when it comes to exercising, but please don't pay attn to all the biochemical stuff he's saying. Any 2nd yr med student will attest to the fallacy in the above mentioned statement.

  • Are you saying that working out with intensity does not have the body burn fat instead of carbohydrate? Or are you just commenting on the first part regarding calories burned at rest?

  • this guy didn't explain the positives of intensity differences while working out. you could have replaced the word 'intensity' with the word 'frequently' throughout the entire video and it would have made more sense.

  • no - no it wouldnt. working out frequently without intensity will serve little purpose other than burning a small amount of calories.

  • dude ur fat urself...haha...

  • idiot he got muscles not fat stupid people

  • ok fineeeeeeeeeee....god.

  • Dont look fat to me - you fucking retard.

  • Does it matter what time of day you exercise? I.e best in the morning, or after a meal, or before a meal?

  • Hey, i've heard of men who have uhmm.. its a little hard to explain, man breasts (not because there fat) but because of woman hormones or something when they were young and they grew actual woman breasts (i seen it on a show) and they said if you exercise such as going to the gym it could make them grow (which is bad) is this true?

  • its called gynecomastia and is a result of excess female hormone (estrogen), working out enlarges them because when you workout you dont only produce testosterone but also estrogen the female hormone. some men are more prone to getting it then others, but a low body fat usually makes them go away, sub 10% BF if you suffer from it.

  • sub 10% BF? what does that mean? and i don't know if i suffer from it.. im 16 and yeah im thin and kinda have em, just a little worried.. :P

  • yeah youd need to go get a good weighing scale and see your body mass index (BMI), from your height, age and weight, if your underweight and have gyno then various treatments are out there(test booster, estrogen blockers, radio therapy), last one is liposuction. if you dont have any gut/lower back fat it usually means your at your peak/border of underweight and the gyno wont dissapear if you decide to do weight loss program. ovweight people can sometimes lose gyno with weight loss though.

  • Uhmm well i weigh 9 stone exacally, i'm aged 16 and my height is 5.6

    Can you judge by that?

  • go on weightloss (exercise, clean diet) you should lose it, youd probably got fat on your midsection at that height and weight aswell.

  • yeah lol not ALOT but quite a bit if you know what i mean, So yes ima exercise.

  • Are you familiar with the concept of speed weights? We used this some in the off-season of football. The idea is to put a small amount of weight (perhaps 50-60%) and do it as fast as you can for 25 seconds. Then go to the next station and do the same. Would this type of workout be effective for burning fat?

  • Kind of. It will NOT burn fat while you're doung it becasue it's anaerobic. But it will burn calories (glycogen-muscle sugar)which will then have to be replaced AFTER your workout by breaking down fat to then be converted into gylcogen.

  • Thanks for clearing that up.

  • Thanks Steve, your videos rock! You should put a book together with all this great knowledge, I would buy a copy for myself and few for my friends!

  • what if your already between 20 and 25, lol intense is my middle name

  • Damn your video's are awesome.

  • Thanks!

  • I've got to get off my ass more first.

  • I wish the women that worked out at my gym would watch this clip. It's painful to watch them pay $50 for a 30 minute session and never even strain themselves.

  • I agree. I just had that same discussion with an orthopaedic surgeon.

  • Steve, this is a great message. I beleive that intensity has been one of the keys my success with my workouts and the results I get. I see other people working with their trainers and they really never even breath hard. Of coursee, my trainer always says that if I don't curse him out after a workout, he has not done his job. (just joking, but we need to have trainers that work us hard, or have the ability to work ourselves hard)

  • As usual, great info, Steve! In addition to what you stated, I also *feel* a whole lot better the day afte a more intense workout. A bit sore but, a *good* kind of sore!

  • With intensity, do you mean that I should be out of breath? Should my heart rate be elevated to the right level? Does this burn more fat than an average workout?

  • When lifting weights intensity means the last 2 or 3 reps should be difficult to complete regardless of the total reps completed. With cardio, intensity means pushing yourself those last 30 seconds when you're really breathing deeply. Depending on your condition this may be achieved with sprinting, jogging, or even just a faster walk. The idea is to make your body work, then recover and adapt to a new higher fitness level.

  • By intensity do you mean "lift heavy" or do you mean "lift with high repetitions." Are you telling us to lift so we also get a cardio workout too?

  • i was wondering how intense because i am a 14 y/o and i heard that intense exercise and weight lifting stops your growth, plz help "word on the street is chicks dig abs"

  • dude you should proberly wait for lea to respond... although when i was 14 i got into alot of heavy weights... i also havnt grown since then. Could be genetics or a coincidence thou... as i said wait for lea =]

  • I can't speak for all chicks because everyone isn't attracted to the same thing, but I can tell you nice abs won't get you very far with this chick if you're not a nice guy too! Remember if a girl only likes you for your abs, she'll be the same girl who only cares about what kind of car you drive when you turn 16.

    Lea

  • So you're saying the someone who doesn't exercise with intensity doesn't burn fat..they only burn what they recently ate?

  • No. Casual exercise burns fat as well. When lifting weights intensity means the last 2 or 3 reps should be difficult to complete regardless of the total reps completed. • That explains it! Thanks so much!

  • YEAH, PUMP IT UP AGHHEN
