  • Love the Ford Anglia

  • Damn those plaid trouser are jost OUTRAGEOUS!

  • @zapkvr I had a pair like that once, and I wore them when I took my driving test...!

  • Anthony Sharp, the gentleman who runs the Training Centre in this sketch, played the "Minister of the Interior" in 'Stanley Kubrick's Clockwork Orange' - one of my favourite actors in my favourite film. RIP, Mr Sharp.

  • This was shot outside the old Swimming pool at Staines

  • 4 people don't like this? Must be stockbrokers. Or Democrats. Or radical Muslims.

  • My sis had one of them cars

  • tv shite today

  • only loony left, PC nutters are offended by this.

  • @duckgeezer It's only right wing nutters who use the term PC.

  • the skinhead character supported the mighty spurs btw

  • I deliberately choose not to be offended by this, more please

  • Politically correct types dont like anything, wankers they are

  • I totally agree he was before I was born (I am 29) and it's humour that unlike most of the stuff around isn't mean spirited or at the expense of anybody's dignity, The Fast Show obviously had this as an influence and they prob wouldn't deny it either

  • this is great,honkytonks.

  • @mackinl Did anyone know that Dick Emery was the president of the Airfix Modellers Club in the seventies? I was a member as a kid and you got a monthly letter from the man himself.

    Happy days!!

  • good old tv we had the best years to day all theat talen shows crap

  • Havent seen any Dick Emery in 25 years. good memories..

  • Brilliant! Can anyone find, and put up the sketch where Dick Emery is an undertaker on his way to a funeral and is harassed by a Hell's Angel (Roy Kinnear) who by constantly overtaking the hearse, forces it to go faster and faster. At first, all the floral tributes get blown off the hearse, then the coffin comes loose and bangs against the tailgate. Eventually, whilst careering round a bend the coffin shoots out and lands in a duck pond. Hilarious!

  • brings back lots of memories . Thank you for posting........

  • Moira Foot @ 2:45...yummy!

  • I suddenly remembered the 'Miss' character yesterday at hospital, when the male physiotherapist was treating me and burst out laughing - he was probably too young to remember Dick Emery. He was a genius in his field and very perceptive of human behaviour. Thank goodness he lives on at You Tube! Brilliant

  • Breasts and homosexuals together in one joke. How terribly amusing.

  • Ooh you are awful - but I like you!

    Sadly missed.

  • LMAO i love this!! i just passed my driving test, this is so funny XD

  • i agree he was before his time god rest him xx

  • Sorry.....I can't help but notice all the comments from you people talking about how things have changed from the non-chalant , caution to the wind style of 70's humor to the ridiculous politically correct hypocritical style of today. This seems to be a problem everywhere , but in Britain it's looks as if it's gone overboard.Don't you people still give a damn about YOUR country anymore? In a few more years you will be damn close to living in Sharia fucking Law! Fight Back!!!

  • Love it

  • he didnt get his own show untill he was 48

  • Everyone a classic!

The 'PC brigade' would have a field day saying he wouldn't be allowed on TV these days with all of those characters!

  • the last character is the funniest.

  • Ere, I fink i'll 'ave this one.

Classic clip. My stomache hurts with laughter.

  • looking back Monty Python were not funny, just a load of middle class pratts larking around thanks to Mummy & Daddy. Dick put more thought and effort into his shows then they ever did. plus he was more in touch with ordinary people.

  • @kew4612 I agree 100%

  • Thanks so much for posting this. I rarely saw Mr. Emery back in the 60's. Don't know why, but every clip I ever did see was a screamer. Fantastic to see such a set of sketches. Monty Python's team had a hard act to follow - if follow they did.

  • Dick Emery really was "the tops". This is hilarious!

    Thanks for sharing.

  • This is great. I've never seen it before.

Best bit has to be the 'camp' driving instructor.

'You wouldn't have had any trouble, honkeytonks.'

  • Thanks.. I loved that.. I remembered watching Dick Emery as a young child, and just sat there amazed lol.

  • He was up against benny hill I kind of think they where on par Bloody great stuff from simpler times

  • pure genius. comedy at its best. no swearing or offensive material. then again when your this funny you don't need to! most comedy now really scrapes the barrel. RIP Dick. you were up there with the best.

  • will someone please post, Detective O'Thick

  • It's odd how the classic comedians (Dick, Benny, Spike, Ronnie & Ronnie...) were so politically incorrect, and yet by today's standards they were naïve - they didn't use profanity, they weren't vulgar or malicious... they poked fun at stereotypes and everything was just good, clean fun. And they still make me laugh after all these years. R.I.P. Dick. We miss you.

  • @galinneall Back then, this politically-correct nonsense didn't exist, so humour was based on the differences between us. None of it was done with the slightest bit of malice. It done purely for laughs. Nowadays, it's considered, 'offensive', to say anything to point out people's differences, so the humour relies solely on smut, vulgarity and plain piss-taking.in order to get laughs. And, doesn't it suffer for it!

  • Ol' Dick was one of the very best!

  • This guy was HILARIOUS!!! =)

  • Ooh you are awful.

  • @75amoeba

    but ah laik you !

  • Magical stuff!!!

  • It didn't fly just like Harry Potter's Ford Anglia

  • Oh you are awful, but I like you .... lol

  • That's funny. Why do I keep thinking of Kenny Everett?

  • Excellent! The only people who could be offended by this are those who deliberately choose to be offended.

  • all the wonderful stereotypes! god bless old dick!

  • dick emery forever

  • I never heard that Dick Emery was "much maligned"- he was extremely popular here in Australia. I have his DVDs and get a great giggle from them, 30 years later.

  • i never thought Dick Emery was 'maligned' either ; maybe the poster of the comment confused the meaning of the word

  • Absolute class ! Dick is a legend sadly missed - much better than most stuff on today - i used to watch this every Saturday night as a teenager - one of the BIG shows of the time for years ! You could see the driving test nervous man punchline coming couldnt you ? ha ha. Didnt Dick look like Freddie Mercury ? most noticable as big tooth vicar !

  • awsome brings all the memorys back!

  • when you look t the crap we get now on tv

  • hahaha another comedy great sadly missed!!

  • brilliant video thanks for sending

  • I say stuff the PC brigade! I grew up with comedies such as this. We were far better for it. We weren't expected to walk on eggshells then, not that I do it now!

  • you are awful - but I like you

  • I remember him from the telly when I was growing up. You can see his humour and characters writ large in today's Little Britain. These comedians have always kept us laughing whatever the weather.

  • This made me laugh with tears, I never heard of him before honostly. I was born in 1981. Too bad, his scenes are hilarious. "Honky tonks" :d

  • That Anglia certainly moved!!

  • That's Staines Swimming Pool. I used to go there when I was a kid.

  • Can't beat a bit of Dick. My wife really loves it.

  • Yes, she does;-)

  • The Harry Enfield / Paul Whitehouse of his era.

(Pity their latest series has gone the wrong way somewhat)

  • The nicely apended young girl in this episode also starred in an episode of 'Are you being served' as an assistant to young Mister Grace.

  • "No you point him out to me and I'll have him" Haha this is hilarious

  • He died in 1983 he was 67(Heart attack) a great man.

  • god bless dick emery he give lots of laughter ,he is very muched missed

  • Good old dick and still funny god bless him

  • I live in Brighton, gay capital of Europe, and I can't really think that any of them would be offended by the gay character. Heavens, that, Larry Greyson and John Innman could be the reason they came out today! Each to their own.

  • Havent seen this for years, its still really funny.

  • you drove like a man, apart from your two big boobs! Dick was the true character classic!

  • Honky Tonks! xD

  • Meant to give this 5 stars and gave it one by accident! Could someone put this right......?.......and of course give it 5 stars!

  • Absolutely fantastic...Especially Gaylord the intellectually challenged bovver boy, ("I fink I got it wrong again dad"!!).And Hettie the frustrated spinster, and of course Mandy the raver amongst a host of un PC but very funny characters....you have got to get more Dick Emery on here....please.

  • Dear Dick Emery - truly one of a kind. Thanks for uploading this video. Got any more Dick Emery?

  • Absolute classic - especially Clarence bursting the bubble of the generously-endowed blonde!
