@morman29 Broadly it's just because Coldplay's music appeals to a wider range of people. After all, popularity and talent are rarely parallel. To your taste, this is the better music, and I agree, but really it's subjective. Bon Iver (for me) is one of the most talented musicians in history, but at the same time as a lover of music I appreciate the talents bands like Coldplay possess, even though I'd be more likely to enjoy Bon Iver.

@mcquick22 Redneck packer fans dont listen to brilliant musicians such as Bon Iver. How dare you attempt to make a connection between the two... shame shame on you.
@lieinmygrave That's a horrific thing to say. Nick Drake was dead by 26 and hadn't recorded in last three years. He was a depressed, bedroom bound wreck and his records sold a pittance in his lifetime. Justin is already 29 and his career is going from strength to strrength. Let's just enjoy his beautiful music.
@goldfishwars that is not at all what I meant, I'm sorry you misunderstood. Nick Drake was a great songwriter who wasn't really appreciated for what he did till much later. Fortunately Bon Iver is nothing of the sort, but I see the two as similar song writers who will be appreciated 20 years from now. I clearly did not wish death upon Bon Iver, that would be senseless and stupid
@lieinmygrave Fair enough - apologies for that. I wrongly assumed it was the type of werid fan-driven fatalist fantasy you see from time to time.
I have a feeling Bon Iver will be appreciated just fine in his lifetime. For one thing, he's a very confident and competent peformer and can tour his material. Nick developed a phobia of performing live and didn't have the benefit of the internet as an avenue to promote his genius.
Check out a cover of Flume by searching Ramble and Wake. Check out the originals titled Pills and Coulda been bad as well. Pease comment and let us know what you think. Any feedback is good feedback. Thanks.
CON-GRA-TU-LA-TIONS! One of those songs that you wanna have forever. I have some in my life from Beirut, Radiohead, Coldplay, Kings of Convenience, and José González, among a few others, that I need. You are definitely among them too. Thank you, guys. It's clear it was absolutely not easy to develop such curve. Please don't stop and best luck ever! You got us.
That guy is Matt McCaughan who has been in several bands like Portatastic and Rosebuds and who is the brother of Mac McCaughan of Superchunk (who also happened to found Merge Records, home to Arcade Fire and Neutral Milk Hotel among others). A real good drummer if you heard him over the years.

so much better than coldplay why aren't they more famous, someone pls tell me why?
