  • @need2speed94 I traded for the car and it had been neglected on oil changes evidently because I put some ported LS6 heads and a cam in the original motor and while we were tuning it one of the rod bearings let go doing a WOT pull. So I pulled it and sold the knocking shortblock for what I paid for a junkyard 6.0L. Swapped in a g5x3 cam and put a set of 5.3L heads I had laying around with LS1 intake valves installed and started over. I was very very suprised for the parts it has in it.

  • @LSxPwrdZ Gotcha... I figured it failed in some aspect. Usually people only swap them for the LQ4 if the LS1 pooped out, or they are crazy for boost hah. Sounds like a nice setup you got, and it looks like it runs great!

  • @need2speed94 Thanks for the props. I actually don't have this car anymore. I sold it not long after this video actually. I now have a 2002 Formula in it's place that makes more power NA and is a stalled auto. Trying to get to that 10.99 mark stock bottom end and stock weight! Check out some of my other video's. The Black Camaro that I have alot of video's of is also mine.

  • Which torque arm are you using and have you had any problems with it. I have the Spohn with driveshaft loop and the bottom snap like a stick. No NOS 408 6-speed 12-bolt 4.11s. But Spohn replaced it with no questions asked. Good vendor.

  • @ninety9ws6ta I was running a UMI Chassis mount with the safety loop. This same torque arm and suspension setup is under my Camaro that runs mid 9's in my other video's. I've never had a bit of trouble out of it.

  • Can I get the wheel specs? Want to get some prostars for mine and like the way yours fit.

  • Yeah this car wasn't flexing at all. It had a 9" with some suspension as well.

  • Did you have to fly cut the pistons?Im planing on running this same setup in my truck that weighs 3400lbs when it had an all cast iron 350 in it.By chance you know what your car weighed?

  • @hy35f2t I did not have to flycut my pistons. My 5.3 heads were stock and I had my head porter install stock LS1 valves and do a valve job on them so that probably gave me a little more clearance with the valve job. The curb weight on this car at race weight was ~3700lbs. It was pretty durn heavy.

    It has a 9" rear, iron block LQ4 just to name a few things of signigicant weight increase. Iron block vs aluminum alone is 100lbs!

  • how strong is the stock bottom end in these LQ4s and LQ9s? how much power will they handle before something gives out?

  • @vans1107 The bottom end's are pretty strong pending the tune is correct. I've seen stock bottom LQ4/9's being pushed well into the 600whp range on stock internals. I installed ARP rod bolt's in this engine because I knew it'd see 7K rpm a few times and didn't want to take the chance on the stockers.

  • The 393/381 was NA. This pass was on a 150 shot which would put power closer to 540hp or so. His dyno is pretty stingy. To give an idea the stock injectors were running 100%. It ran 11.59@121 NA. Trap speed NA compares to other cars that make 430-440 across the web.

  • What are your other mods? 393 rwhp with a 11.59 e/t @ 121 is really good though.

  • @xZZxTakedown It had normal supporting mods. It was full weight with functioning A/C. It had a FAST90 Intake, 85mm MTI Lid, Pacesetter LT's and Y-pipe into a stock exhaust with a magnaflow muffler. The nitrous setup was a basic NX Shark Nozzle kit with 150 jets. The dyno I used was a known low reading dyno. To give an idea the stock 28# injector's were maxxed out.
